Finally got around to watching this. Good stuff man! So many Medals I never used in my first playthrough. Gotta say, it was satisfying seeing them get some decent use. Even EXP Booster. Shame that Chompy can't get past the final boss, but she went a lot further than I expected, especially considering all the airborne enemies/bosses there are along the way. Looking forward to Part 2!
EXP Booster was funny to see how it didn't affect Chompy's damage output. But Frostbite was the real sleeper hit this challenge. Part 2 I think will show to the fullest extent how strong the medal can be. And yeah after so many bosses Chompy struggled with just because she couldn't reach, it's kinda fitting that the final boss would be what did her in.
Does, doesn't it. Maybe if you really needed your inventory space for other items and Vi just gives you a move to restore HP for TP? Kinda like Ms. Mowz' Smooch
Secret Stash is useful in cases where you can't easily refill your items, like the Cave of Trials or in some of the no-exit levels. Also Astotheles. It also lets you convert TP regained by TP core or Meditation into healing that can apply to any team member, instead of being locked to just one like Prayer/HP core.
So close! I wonder how helpful the other ribbons would have been, although the bonus point of damage from the pink one is hard to pass up. Personally only found a good use for it and the blue one. Not that they would be helpful against an enemy you can't even hit to begin with...
I did try to find uses for the other 3 ribbons, but there's really nothing there I was able to find... yet. Pink just ended up being always better because of the extra damage. All numb would do is make Ultimax Tank require Leif to damage for example, and Wasp King goes down fast enough just relying on Status Mirror. Though only time will tell how the bounties will go.
okay I need to make the comment SOMEWHERE and I feel like it's on brand for a chompy only run I got the game recently and focused mostly on story progress before going for side quests, but only simple fetch quests and simple things I got to the Chompy one and thought "neat, extra damage per turn" CHOMPY HAS LITERALLY BEEN THE LAST HIT ON ALL OF THE OPTIONAL BOSSES I'VE FOUGHT BY COMPLETE ACCIDENT AND I HAVE CLIPS TO PROVE IT
Y'know, with the new update adding the "We Owe Ya" and "Helper Boost" medals, it might be theoretically possible to be ELK at least without attacking with Team Snakemouth, although probably only if you got somebody like Celia who could hit airborne enemies. Unfortunately (I believe, haven't tested for myself yet) help from Maki only unlocks after beating his post-game quest. This might be worth another look for a "Helpers only" challenge or something, is what I'm saying.
Vi's healing moves are really good in an itemless run. They probably gave that move to Vi cuz all 3 characters can fill 2 different "roles". Kabbu is a heavy hitter or a tank. Leif is a buffer or a mage. Vi is a multi hit DPS or a healer.
Something I learned since this run is also that she pairs extremely well with Hard Charge and Heal Plus since she can boost to +3 and restore the HP she just lost which makes her an extremely good at passing charge status.
Vi’s secret stash is designed to be good for chapter 1 the chapter of poison (btw I noticed that the first 4 chapters are themed around an status effect which is cool) But it is really useful for when as replacement for healing items. Both secret stash and sharing stash work with heal plus so having an 5-6 healing move or an 3-4 to the party then 2 hp for two turn is really good. It also works really well with hp cast. (Even tho tp doesn’t lower)
Interesting. I guess it makes sense though that it would be better early on than later. And it also serves a good purpose if your other items are being flooded with other items and you need a renewable source of extra HP.
Chapter 1 has a fair amount of poison, Chapter 2... Lifesteal? I can't think of anything else Chapter 3 has a bunch of paralysis Chapter 4 has... Freeze? I don't think I've seen any status effects being thrown around in 4 to be honest I'd say chapter 7 is the true status chapter. At that point, nearly every attack in the game causes some sort of status or another.
@@terraria_ranger4887 chapter 2 has sleep (two of three bosses has Venus buds which can put you to sleep and also numbnail who put you to sleep) And chapter 4 the whole thing with the sand castle was more a combination of ice and paralazy. But since it would fit into my idea I just went with ice.
My question is, how to get chompy early at chapter 4? I assume we aren't at high exploration rank (or strong enough) to fight the boss at the cave in golden path
I probably should have shown the Mother Chomper fight in some capacity. But she's actually got a huge weakness in that all of her and her Chompers only can target a single bug so I had Kabbu in the back redirecting with Taunt w/ Back Support since Mother Chomper can only use her healing bite on the front bug with Vi supporting with items and Leif spamming Frigid Coffin. So you can win at a pretty low rank.
I ended up using Heavy Sleeper shenanigans and Kabbu as the Team Favorite after 7 game overs and not wanting to go back to my previous save point. Kabbu took the sleep darts and and the pain to charge his fellow bugs to be as aggressive as possible.
Even if he isn't immune to freeze, he doesn't have a single attack to attack directly which is necessary for frostbite to have any effect beyond reducing damage.
@@megarotom1590 Oh you mean the flower. That won't work for the same reason Frostbite doesn't work against The Watcher's cyclone. Besides, that would require knocking him down first which Chompy can't do.

The everlasting king only heals while grounded btw. But he summons artifacts while airborne so both situations are pretty bad. But without attacking him we have no way to control where he is
Yeah only while grounded, he restores HP. And with his defense, he's able to do so faster than Chompy can hurt him. Especially if he steals HP from another bug.
@@PhantomAarantulaI can come up with a way that chompy could barely out dps the everlasting king’s healing, if you were somehow able to ground him. First, stack up as many turns of poison as possible using the poison ribbon, then switch to the pretty ribbon and wear him down dealing 5 damage/turn opposed to 3-4 healing per turn. @@ianjohnson218 You'd probably be better off letting Status Mirror reduce his HP if going the route of poisoning. Wouldn't help either that it'd cost a turn just to equip a different ribbon and status ailments can only be cast so many times before an enemy stops being susceptible to it. I wouldn't fret over bringing me back to an old video, though. It's a wonderful sign if anything that people are still finding the channel.

If you mean the one just after Chapter 4, it won't work. That attack is considered indirect so at best, the damage would be reduced to half.
