This video is 5 years old and is still more helpful than the newer videos of the same model.
Thank you
This guy is an absolute legend!! Why couldn't I find this video 2 years ago! Best tutorial ever!
I just bought one from Korean and doesn't have any English manual instruction! Thanks for the step by step instructions which were so straight forward. I managed to do the set up.
Thanks for the video, if anyone is on the fence about getting this network expansion it works like it says, and if you plug it into the Ethernet port it’s speed is increased better than using just the WiFi
Bought one for $15 to my door. It really works! No box or instructions thanks for user name and password and which screen to skip. No more dead zone.
thank you so much! this was really helpful. Google chrome doesn't work with this for some reason, had to use Firefox
this video was the most useful video i found so far in 2016. thank you
+Balal Basharat (Balalb7)
thanks
sir does this thing can connect to ps4? I want to play online with this cute mini wifi :)
Xavier Pawa yessss it does.
Very helpful, am going for it. Thank you...............
Thank you, i had set up my extender easily!

Excellent and clear review. Thank you very much! :)
mictho100 thank you
I hate user manuals. Your video was very helpful. Thank you!
you are welcome
Still an awesome tutorial for this item in 2020. Getting one this weekend.
Thanks.
How good is it?
very nice review.. thanks for covering all aspects of the device
Thank you
Will this extender be good for extending more wifi power from my apartments living room to the bed room? I'm thinking of buying this model and installing it in between the bedroom and living room.
Awesome information and guidance on setup for this model.
thank you
Thanks for this video!
you're welcome
Good review... thank you.!!
+rohan de silva
Thanks for the feedback
Gracias!!!! Very helpful.
Sweet
I chose this extender because it have dual band, so i get bouths ranges. I notice if i put vertical it works, if horizontal it starts go red, so device knowns how you treat it. For my main router i get archer c 60 tp link, so coverage matters. RE 220 is great but some fix larger network it still get not enough straith so keep it closer range and it extends. But really i wanted use two of it but settings wont allow that that sad.
great job on the video thanks!
Eric Victoria
thank you
thank you!
Hey nice job on video. I enjoyed it. I have a question , IN my room I have a signal but its not very strong. I want to move my ps4 into the room and my question is will the signal be strong enough to handle me online playing with friends? Also if it wont work any suggestions and my home wifi is wireless
Hi, I just enjoyed your clear review of the product. But i have a little bit technical question to ask, does Tp-Link range extenders work in bridge mode so that the connected devices can get ip from the main router with their mac adresses so it wont mess with port forwarding settings i have previously done or the range extender has a DHCP server itself that creates a lower levelled network inside your network and gives the connected devices an ip regarding the main router. Any help about this topic will be much appriciated.
I don't recall seeing an option for bridge mode. Often, bridge mode is software and hardware based. My main router is a different brand then the range extender.
I just got 2 Netgear Nighthawk routers today that can work on bridge mode. D-Link also has routers that can support bridge mode.
+AwkwardHamster Thank you for your kind answer sir. I used to have a another brand range extender which is a different brand from my Asus AC68U router, but eventhough there was no settings either it was working on bridge mode on default settings. I guess I should try and see the answer myself.
Thanks, it worked!
Nice
Thank you👍
It works but the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz on the extender aren’t lighting up
you're supposed to set it up close to the router, then you can move it to any part of the house or apartment. it keeps your setup in memory so you only have setup once. if your equipment doesn't support 5g you'll have to connect at 2.4g and select 5g for the ones that do.
can you explain that better?
if you are using the 1st method, plug it into an outlet as close to your main router as possible, press the button at the back of the router and it will read the router's info and set itself up as per the instructions on the manual. Otherwise you may get interference between the two and it will not work.
Sorry, but you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about.
Yeah that's how I setup mine too. Using WPS to auto connect it.
Excuse me sir? what button should i press? Button of the TP link or my main router?
thanks, very helpful
You’re welcome
Do have any suggestions on why it keeps disconnecting?
thanks alot ☺☺
Thank you Sir
is this a method of setting it up without being next to the router? if it is u just saved my life
thank you so much!🖒
you're welcome
Do you know if you can use 2 range extenders on the same Wifi? For example, router on main floor, 1st extender on the 2nd floor and the 2nd extender in the garden.
Steven Brink
Each range extender would broadcast it's own SSID. Let's say you're on the 2nd floor and walk into the garden. The 2nd floor signal will be in the garden but weak so your phone won't automatically switch to the garden SSID. It's very likely you'll have to manually switch the wifi on your computer or smartphone from 2nd floor to SSID.
very helpful thanks
You’re welcome
nice review and test run. Great idea to use the speedtest.net and compare before and after. I would have been interested in a dual-band demo of it.
thank you so much!!
You’re welcome
I get good wifi in my room laptop gets 51mbps down and 12mbps up, my PS4 gets around bounces from 20mbps down and 4mbps up to 8mbps down and 2mbps ups my PS4 signal strength shows its hovering around 80%, also when I test connection for share play on ps4 one second its saying good the next test it shows "too low" the next test shows good so obviously the PS4 is not getting the best signal would one of these with the PS4 plugged into the ethernet improve that 80% signal strength?
Hi- Great Video!
just a quick question - the extenders usually gives only a 50% bandwidth. Does it happen with this too? Or would you recommend going with a wireless access point?
Lalit Philip Speed's very good. I demonstrated it at 3:50 in this video. I got more then 50%.
Thanks for your reply!
excellent real world review.
+MIke White
Thank you.
I want to use it to form mesh wifi network by connecting it to Tplink Archer A6 router. Will it produce same strength of wifi signals in mesh network as that of secondary router? Router is in first floor, RE200 will be in 2nd floor.
Hi there, thanks for the review. Just wondering if you've had any problems with this WiFi extender since the review? Has it been dropping your wifi, or constantly prompting you for password? Has there been any times of non-connectivity? Thanks.
AzureSteel I haven't had noticeable problems. It's primarily used with my NAS that's running 24/7. When I encounter an issue with the NAS, I attribute it to rebooting the computer or NAS. Haven't suspected it to be an issue with the extender.
Hello! Are you able to test out the "high speed mode" setting? I'm trying to figure out if I need this so that the DVR downstairs (router is upstairs) can receiver higher data speeds than what it is currently getting from the main router
+Jozef Del Mundo
Hi. I don't remember seeing a "high speed mode" setting.
+AwkwardHamster here's a link www.tp-link.us/faq-707.html just scroll down to "Application Scenario 4" and "Application Scenario 5" I'm just reading about it... and it talks about it on the product page on the TP link website
Can I use this product to catch wifi signals from my phone hot-spot and take the output through RJ45 ethernet port to connect to my android tv box ethernet port. Please let me know. Thanks in advance
thanks for the instruction vid... I just ordered mine & with "prime" delivery in should be here in a couple of days. Your unbox/ setup was clear & concise... again, *THANKS*
+V rod
You are welcome
+AwkwardHamster works great! I unboxed, laid it all out on my desk, scanned the quick start guide, laid it down & followed your tips.
+now I've an Ethernet in my back room.

I have a ps4 upstairs and my router downstairs working wirelessly , where would you recommend placing the extender. In my room were the ps4 is , or downstairs were my router is?
did you figure out the answer to this question? because i am watching this for the EXACT same reason
place it near your ps4 seemed to work best for me
place it in the middle so you get the highest wireless connection if you place it by ps4 make sure your connection is full bars to get the highest speed
do you have to connect to that when you go in the back room or does it automatically connect when you walk from room to room? I need one for my tp link touch p5 for my back room but don't want to be having to switch back and forth everytime I go back there.
just try forgetting your original router on your device. because most wifi extenders have a much higher range then routers. but it's not always the case. hope this helps you.
MINE IS STUCK AT 100% FOREVER, WHEN I LEAVE THE SCREEN TO TRY IT OUT I IMMEDIATELY GET REDIRECTED BACK TO THE ORIGINAL PAGE!! I REPEATED THIS SO MANY TIMES AND ITS THE SAME RESULT EACH TIME!! HELP WITH THIS PLEASE!!!
Have you tested the TP-Link RE210 model? It seems similar to this RE200 model, but it has external antennae and a few more features.
+mote99 It's almost twice the cost. Not worth it when he's already maxing out his ISP connection with this one.
+A55tech Yeah, you're probably right about that one. I asked because I was thinking of buying the RE210 myself. But then I found the RE200 on sale for a good price, so I went with it instead. They work pretty good, but getting a stronger WiFi router solves the problem at its core. That's what I went with in the end: a new modem/WiFi router from my ISP.
You can also use the TP-Link RE200 to connect a wired device (i.e. a Blu-Ray player, game station, etc.) to a WiFi router, so I hung on to the RE200. There's more than one use for it, actually.
mote99 But the extender is cheaper than a new router. Unless if you needed to buy many extenders. Or did your ISP upgrade your modem+router for free?
+A55tech Yeah, these range extenders are definitely cheaper than upgrading to a new router. I upgraded my internet package, which required a modem/router upgrade via my ISP. It wasn't free but it was a necessary move regardless.
But yeah, if you don't want to upgrade to a stronger (and more expensive) WiFi router, these TP-Link range extenders are a pretty good deal. Like I said, I kept mine because you can use them for more than one use. They're handy little devices.
You should not use an extension chord to plug it in. This might reduce the speed which was not bad but you might have better speed if you plug it in directly to the wall outlet.
+huatuo1668
This is a wifi range extender. What you're describing is for powerline. I reviewed those too in this video. ua-cam.com/video/c3UkTJS3CSo/v-deo.html
Hi, thanks for the great review video. I have a question, can you make 2.4gz+ 5ghz out of 2.4ghz original router signal? My main home router only operates in 2.4gz but I was wondering if this range extender can turn that into 5ghz. Thanks in advance
JinGu Lee Hi. You can't turn a 2.4ghz to 5ghz. If you have a dual band 802.11ac router, it's likely set up to use both 2.4 and 5ghz bands. My router is only 802.11n so it's using just 2.4ghz.
got the same extender, but I can't select the region, the option doesn't show up. Can someone please help me?
Can't think of any way you could of done this review batter. So much better then there like cartoon type video showing it. Nice job thank you. Like it that you did not say Subscribe!

Can I wired my NVR camera head unit to the ethernet port of this extender and have it WIFI to my router from the other end of the house? is this Ethernet port can be use for hard wire to PC/laptop or it only for extender configuration? Please help before I making the purchase.
Yes to your first question. But if that's your setup, I would recommend using a powerline instead. I reviewed it in this video. ua-cam.com/video/c3UkTJS3CSo/v-deo.html
The network port on this device can be connected to a PC, laptop, camera, just about anything you want.
hey nice review. however i want to know if there is deference between using a wifi dongle connected to my desktop computer or is it better to use wifi extender and connect my computer to the wifi extender using cable? tnx in advance
+eugene falgui
Hi. Technically, using the cable will be faster. But, I use the cable for my NAS because it doesn't physically move. For my computer and smartphone I want it to be wireless so I connect using wifi.
Hi... Thanks for video but when i connected to extender ... The number of connected devices still zero in tether applications .. Why ?
O Wi-Fi do meu celular quando está fora fica meio ruim o sinal mais é só eu conectar a senha que funciona mais isso JÁ aconteceu várias vezes comigo é normal
My extender says it needs a password assuming I put in the right thing why is it taking so long to verify and connect in my computer?
Thank u
You’re welcome
whats the use of that CD inside
HI, why wouldn't you have the same ssid # on the extender. Why would there be an advantage of using two ssid #.
+Vahe Boyajian
Hi. Let's say I have a 2000 sqft home. The left half has the same SSID as the right half. If my MacBook first established connection with the right half standing 5 feet from the router, the signal strength is probably over 80%. If I walked to the left half, the signal strength drops to 40%. Some say the computer should automatically switch to the left half SSID since it has a stronger signal strength. That is not always the case with consumer grade wireless equipment. In the scenario I described, the MacBook will continue to use the right half SSID even though signal strength is only 40%. It will only switch to the stronger signal strength if there was a break in the connection with the right half SSID.
i setup my re200 when i got it and it worked for a while, then i stopped using it for a bit and the nor the 2.4g or the 5g leds light up. when i try to set it up again it works downstairs (where my router is) but when i try to plug it in upstairs (where i already tested it and used to work) the ghz leds won't light up so i'm stuck. any idea?
+skiing crocodile
I'm guessing the signal strength upstairs got weaker. If you have other devices that broadcast wireless signals since you first got the RE200, those could be the culprit.
Other then that, I'm not sure.
This little tid bit might help some of you, I could not reach the tplinkrepeater.net url in Chrome on my mac, I had to use safari. Hope this helps someone.
Hi, would you know if this extender supports WPA Enterprise security WiFi connections?
I don’t think it is supported because I don’t recall seeing that option during the set up
When I click on the finish button restarting stucks at 100%. Was waiting half an hour and nothing happened... If I remove the extender and bring it in another room, it is connecting to my phone but doesn't load any page. Why isn't it able to finish the reboot?
Using a mobile device with a range extender....if I'm constantly moving around my house from the room with my router to rooms with the extender, will have I have to manually select which network to connect to each time i walk from room to room or will it find the best signal strength and connect quickly and automatically as I move from room to room?
Hi. This item doesn't work like that. I think what you're looking for is a consumer edition adaptive roaming router like the D-Link DKT-891.
Thank you for your reply, it was helpful...however, i still have questions regarding the compatibility and helpfulness of a wifi router. I am currently using the Arris Surfboard SBG 6700AC, it has two ports on the back for pc internet LAN connection and built in wifi. Can I keep my desktop pc plugged in to the Arris modem and run the second port to the wifi router? Will my current modem continue to broadcast wifi along with a new wifi router and cause issues?
If i don't have a wifi card in my desktop PC, but only a network card (for wired connections), and i use this extender in my room with the ethernet cable plugged into my pc, i must have a good connection right? Please answer because i really need it.. .the usb stick isn't working that well;)
This will work if it's not too far from the main router. And after the setup, you can use the network cable to connect this unit to your computer.
Another option is to get a Powerline.
Finna buy 1. Hope that it do what it suppose to do because my Spectrum WiFi is terrible.
Can you hook up the TP Link AC 750 with a ethernet cable to the home router and then have the AC 750 disperse the wifi ?
No.
Thanks
you're welcome
can i setup wifi repeter with android
Tell me, which router can be used on 802.11AC and 802.11N , because I have one Dell vostro laptop which might not be working on new 802.11 AC technology.
If your laptop doesn't support 802.11ac, the laptop can connect to 802.11n network.
how many devices does it support before it starts to work like there was no re200?
+theazianinvasian
Depends on if any device is utilizing all the bandwidth. Else, it can support as many as you permit. If you start assigning devices from x.x.x101 then it will be 154 devices.
since the day u bought it, have their been any issue? and how do you like it?
+Tuan Bui
i like it, still use it. haven't had an issue.
Please, someone can tell me how to activate wps via web in this repeater, a question has arisen and access but I did not find this option. If anyone can help me thank you just for curiosity !!! Thank you
Another question. Are you able to return to the set up link after? Because when I tried, a TP LINK page appeared, it said that there is an issue with the repeater. Should I install it again?
+Mario Aguilar
Yes, or you can reset the unit if you can't log into the setup screen.
I paid £15 from Robert dyers, straight forward set up from the video, I used my mobile phone to do it, it seems to work ok, I've plugged it into various sockets around the house, the main test will be if it picks up my fire stick in back room.... I'll update later
You never updated
@@redlee4319 it seemed to work for a couple of weeks but I noticed its was getting slower as I think neighbours were trying to latch on, even though I had put a password on, I haven't really used it since, but it was cheap enough to give it a go, you can have my 1 if you want
@@gowmitch069but thanks anyways bro.
thanks mang thanks a lot.
I believe I have set this up by following the 'Quick setup method' and it appears to be working, in so much as I can identify additional WiFi source as :- 'TP-link-Extender5Ghz', but when prompted it rejects my Router's Access P/word, or any likely default password, so I can't access network signal produced by the Extender. TP-Link's apparent Config webpage doesn't let me access the manual config settings, as shown on this video. So where am I going wrong? I'm currently waiting for response from TP-Link Support on this issue. I can't be the only one finding this problem, can I....?
+evanofelipe
since this is a dual 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz range extender, it'll broadcast two wireless names (SSID). During the setup process it asked for a password for 2.4 Ghz and another for 5 Ghz. ua-cam.com/video/isn7XhYGLQQ/v-deo.htmlm23s
If you forgot it, it's OK. Enter the TP-Link setup menu and change it. Or, reset TP-Link and start the configuration from the beginning.
How long have you had this? I want to buy this today but many people Are complaining on reviews that it disconnects a lot
***** I've had it since last year. I still use it without issues. I use it for computer and it works with my Cisco VPN phone.
Is this using 110v only or i can used with 220v electric?
Giải Trí
Supports 100v-240v.
AwkwardHamster thank you for the reply. :)
Can we buy more than one to places in the house or is it best just to buy one?
+Jeffrey Aguilar
To answer your question, yes you can. But, if your house is big enough to warrant two of these, you might as well buy a dlink router with base stations. That way, you will have a single wifi SSID covering the whole house.
have you tried and compared this product to any other?
i wanna buy this but if there is something better ill look at it
MLGjake g
Only other one I tried was D-Link wifi range extender. It was also good. I use this TP-LINK model more because it has the network port.
Hi, is it possible to do the configurations on my smartphone? I dont have laptop that's why I'm wondering if it will work?
Configuration can be don’t on the smartphone.
Hi Man! Great review, i ordered this extender a few days ago, but i can't get it to work properly. I have a cheaper extender which works fine, but isn't really stable so i thought i'd buy this one. When i follow the steps and connect it with 2.4ghz, it completes the process but won't actually connect to the main router. If i look at the overview it says Connection Status: Disconnected. The router type i'm using: SpeedTouch 780. Any ideas?
+Bas Damming
Hi. I do not know what would cause it. I would just reset and try the setup process again.
+Bas Damming Hi. Did you find any solution on your problem - I've got the same problem?
+Bas Damming
Hi again - I solved my problem last night (late):-) - security settings should have to be the same i both Mainrouter and wifi-extender. I my case WPA2.
Could you do tutorial on Huawei extender plz adap
I don’t have that
Hello, thank you for the instructions. I hope you to see this comment... I bought TP-LINK AC1200 Wi-fi Range Extender. I took the same steps as you did. But the extender cannot connect the real wi-fi maybe because it is located upstairs? So what is the point of having an extender? I cannot find a way for it to work properly. Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong?
Büşra Şahin you have to place it in the middle
Thank you.
do you have to connect the link to router by computer or can you do it through a phone
through the phone, in this video i demonstrated it using my iphone
If I was looking to increase my wifi signal/strength in my college dorm, would this work?
+Steadyshotzz
Hi. Is the wifi signal provided by your school? Let's say wifi is provided by the school. Their antenna is 30 feet from your dorm. If you put the WIFI range extender in your room, it will not boost the signal because the signal in your room is already weak. You'll have to place the WIFI range extender somewhere between their antenna and your dorm room. But, that's not practical since such a location is probably in a hallway and the WIFI range extender will end up getting stolen.
I heard that this extender can extend both 2.4 and 5Gb at the same time. Is that true? BTW love the video.
Ucada yes, this supports both 2.4 and 5 Ghz, it's a range extender for 802.11b/g/n/ac
Does this range booster handle 60 meg or more? Does it handle a house that is 5000 sq feet?
+glitterglamscrapper
Yes, this can handle far more then 60 Mb because it supports 802.11ac. But, alone, it can not cover a 5000 sq ft house.
Hi..How far away should the router be from the repeater when I set it up initially?
Lets say your computer is at a spot that gets 1 bar out of 4. Move to a spot that is 2 bars out of 4. That’s the spot where I would use the range extender.
@@AwkwardHamster Cool..Thanks
Is it possible to rename the name of the SSID? Would be handy since I've ordered 4 of these :)
Yes you can rename the SSID for all 4 you purchased.
Does it reset when it's unplugged from power?
In other words, once you remove the EXTENDER from the outlet, do you have to WPS it again?
I want to be able to WPS to the locked router then be able to use it in an office in the back of the house. But if it's unplugged, will the WPS setting die?
*On my phone, a WPS connection is like a virtual password and can reconnect again when it's in range...but this extender, i dunno.
+Raylan Givens
Aside from being devilishly handsome, quick witted and have an ass that could bounce back 2 dimes and a nickel from a quarter thrown at it, I think you might be misunderstanding the WPS connection process.
It's a virtual handshake, a recognition of the inherent ID of the WPS'd device.
The router or "rodem" (router+modem) wil store the WPS'd devices ID so when the device attempts to connect again, it can do so easily without the need for another confirmation handshake (pin to pin acceptance).
+Raylan Givens
Settings are saved even after a power outage.
Hello , i love ur videos, i need a help from ur side as im planing to buy this router from tp link (WLAN rout 1900mb Touch P5) wil this router pass through 5 walls of my house from my bedroom to hall my house has 5 walls , wil it be able to give me a good range, i alredy have a router tl wr841n , im planing to use it as a repeater is it a good idea , ples xplain . Thanks
+lijo johnson
My current router doesn't do a good job covering the whole house, I use this range extender in areas that needs the additional wifi coverage.
Another thing you can do is get Netgear Nighthawk X4S Smart WiFi Router and have one be the primary router and the other be the bridge.
+AwkwardHamster thanks for the repli :)
THIS SHIT CHANGED MY LIFE
+Herbie Hancock
nice
did you mean it changes your gaming experience? please reply. i want to know if this is better using a cable to connect on your computer. compare to having a wifi dongle
eugene falgui I'm not sure if it's better than cable but I have always been on wireless and I went from a poor 2MB dl speed to 29MB when I bought the range extender =)
Oh i see. im also having a slight issue on my ping spikes while gaming. Thats why am asking if this will improve my ping if i connect my pc with cable
+Eugene falgui , you get fastest speeds from wired connections, followed by a wireless router and this is the slowest of the bunch. It doesn't increase the speed of the wifi, it just extends the range
is it ok to put the extender 20 feet far from the router but without any wall from the extender? thanks
francis lising I think that's fine but without a wall I also think you won't have wifi issues anyway.
my signal comes and go when i go about 20 feet from the router but the speed is 52mbps so i will try to put a wifi extender maybe it will do,thanks!
