After saving them from slavery, God cares for His people in the desert, revealing His abundant love for those He was going to make "His own". Through the event of the Covenant at Sinai we are called to appreciate the unconditional love of of God. The Covenant and the Ten Commandments are based on the decision of God to love His people and the decision of the people to acknowledge God's love.
