- Worried about the Japan nuclear meltdown (Fukushima) I purchased a Geiger counter for my smartphone (smartgeiger) but she got a clean bill of health! amzn.to/2FR6wFP
Then on to the tachometer, it's a GlowShift 3 cylinder compatible RPM tachometer w adjustable shift light, super easy to install. I would say under an hour easily. amzn.to/2Wbcvew
Blade has 2 accidents in an hour...
WIRING:
On the coil plug, it is the lowest wire on connector (Red with silver)
light dimmer is the (Green with white dot) on the first connector of the instrument cluster.
Power is (Red with White) on the molex connector

Climber Mini-truck, this one is a 1992, 7th Gen, S83P, 660cc Minitruck. The “climber” means it has rear axle lock. Amir has about 60 units in stock, he was very helpful.
Researching online I did find l lot of information, but Amir explains a LOT more than I knew, he has been in the business for 15 years. Plus if Bubbles in Trailer Park Boys has one, it HAS to be cool!
Don't forget you're buying a used vehicle, check it all out, they're over 25 years old! Some are in much better shape than others. Check for leaks, CV boots ripped, Loose suspension, Clutch slippage, clunks etc. Just like any used vehicle
S83p specs:
660cc 4 vavle 3 cyl engine 48-53hp carburated
weight: 1500 lbs
length 10'8" (128"). width 4'6" (54") w/o mirrors. Height 5'10" (70")
Load capacity 800 lbs
Max Speed 55-60mph
I purchased mine at Boeki USA, www.boekiusa.com has their updated inventory. Ask for Amir and tell them MOTOCHEEZ sent you! They also have a west coast shop!
I know there may be other videos of this.. but this is my Cheezy style!
More info (Wikipedia):
The Daihatsu Hijet (Japanese: ダイハツハイゼット) is a cabover microvan and pickup truck produced and sold by the Japanese automaker Daihatsu since 1960. Despite the similarities between the Hijet name and Toyota's naming scheme for its trucks and vans (Hiace and Hilux), the name "Hijet" has been in use for Daihatsu's Kei trucks and Microvans since 1960, over two decades before Toyota took control. "Hijet", when transliterated into Japanese, is very similar to "Midget", one of Daihatsu's other mini-trucks. The Hijet competes in Japan with the Honda Acty, Subaru Sambar, Mitsubishi Minicab, Suzuki Carry and the Nissan Clipper.
Due to changing products, links, etc, If you want the most recent product links (if these are no good), go to www.motocheez.com and click the section you're looking for (upper right) and scroll down the page for the item.
This keeps the links for all the parts more accurate. These I use and install on ALL my videos. I do not sell any of the items listed. (except T-shirts and key tags.. so you buy now!)

Youll be happy to hear that even if that truck had been exposed to the Fukushima, your risk would be about the same as sitting in your local hospital waiting room (or being within 100ft of an X-Ray machine.)
Long story short Fukushima released a lot of Alph and Beta radiation. This is relatively harmless as it can be stopped by cloths and your skin. The real danger comes for Inhalation and ingestion. On top of all that, most of the material that was released had short "Half-lives" meaning: by the time it got to you there is little to no danger as long as you not licking the exterior.
Awesome to know. I was hoping someone with knowledge of this. I wondered how steel would hold radiation anyway.
@@MotoCheez I'm no master! But I got a major hard-on for LFTR (Liquid Florid Thorium Reactor) Nuclear Reactor, you want your mind blown to smithereens, look into this. I did several projects about this back in school and got a much better understanding of radiation and the dangers it poses.
Simply put radiation is made out to be this big bad scary and DEADLY monster, but it's less than this.

OMG yes. I know about the Thorium reactors! Going to check all the links you sent, TY😁🔥🔥
Beta is worse than alpha emitters.
Alpha is basically "Do not lick" while beta will actually require you to do something.
👍ahh ok
Found it!!! Peace! Don't be mad, a tachometer in a three cylinder... I can't stop laughing. You are the best.
That pull and jerk was a job for the mini truck
I like your project and your editing...
Thank you!😁
Pretty sure the harness you tapped into is for the power windows and locks on the "Atrai" minivan version of the Hijet truck ,,same chassis, engine, drivetrain with a van body and upgraded interior . Usually loaded and some had a turbo . Cool vids .Miss my old Hijet
Thank you 😁
LOL gotta love when friends come to you for your jeep! I have the same problem! Keep up the great work! Cant wait to see some 4x4ing in the mini truck!
Ha, yes! Next video has some good 4x4 action.
Even if it were to say have come from Daichi, here's the kicker, every port into US has remote radiation sensors and checks (there's a few stories about stuff they found, can't link UA-cam will autospam me). Also, if you pressure wash it, it should be ok, it's the dirt that's the problem.
That being said, i wouldn't trust any equipment that's plugged into the 3.5 mm jack(as in fear of gimmick), and buying an actual geiger counter these days is cheapo. And you can link via Amazon as well. Basically, any geiger counter you see in someone's hands during a trip video to Fukushima or Chernobyl, it's ok to recommend or buy. Cheers.
Please advise when Blade is on the road so I can get off the road. :) Great video as usual.
LMAO!👍👍👍👍👍😄😄😄
once again, thanks for the instruction. I think I'll eventually add a tach to my climber as well. I'll probably skip the geiger counter....maybe I can get some Bruce Banner action.
Now Mini-Truck can rippp.... Nothing is going to stop it LOL
Hell yeah! Next video proves that!!
AWSOME !!! I can't believe Connecticut , has hillbillies !! if you ever make it to Ohio you and WHAT UP MINI TRUCK , are more than welcome to ride on my land !!!

🔥🔥🔥👍🏻👍🏻 hell yeah. Or should I say YEEHAW
@@MotoCheez we started a drinking game while watching mini truck . every time you say mini truck you have to down a beer every time mini truck honks you have to do a shot !!!
That's funny!! Down a 🍺 beer right at the info.. gonna be a tough game on my next video, plan on having friends sleep over!!!
god damn I wish I could buy that mini truck!!!

Boy i do love me some Canadian content on the Tube of You
😁😁👍
What’s the worst that could have happened, radiologically speaking? You’d be visible from satellite driving that backwoods glowing at night?! Still a win lol... but speaking of glowing, are you putting some monster floods on that bumper or haven’t I gotten that far watching yet? I know some say it’s ridonkulas having a tach on a blender motor, but I think it’s cool🤪 I say go for it and add a sound system too for a challenge, but I’m funny like that.
😁😁 the tach helped me with mph. Sine bigger tires and kph
Oh no, 44 vids, there goes the rest of the day and some of tomorrow. God bless
😂😂😂🔥🔥🔥👍
I watched all your video I like your humor memer style😂 and also i have my mini truck dont know how to modified it..😂
Thanks! My videos only show some of my sillyness 😁
PROPER JOB! on Tacho dimmer :-)
TY!
Have to check my Subaru for radiation! Just wired my factory supercharged tachometer and oh boy they didn’t wire the negative tach signal wire to the dash on the kei trucks just the van. Had to run it all the way from the coil Subaru motor is all the way back. Tapped into the harness and found the main harness grommet to bring it in the cab video soon. Wish they just put the wire in the cab.
Geesh
Microwaves are non-ionizing radiation (radio waves), which is completely different from ionizing radiation from nuclear reactors. I suspect the little radiation detector that plugs into your cell phone microphone jack was simply measuring the noise of the microwave oven.
This was supposed to detect different types of radiation, I just picked up a GQ GMC-320+ Geiger counter
@@MotoCheez - I had a "real" Geiger counter in my Amazon saved-for-later cart, pending more research. The GMC-320+ looks a lot better for almost no more cost. I'm mostly interested in detecting beta particles from radioactive iodine, but the ability to detect all forms of ionizing radiation and maybe discriminate against very short range alpha particles and the more energetic and penetrating particles that are more of a health risk. I'd be very interested if you make a video on the GMC-320+.
Still waiting for my Daihatsu Hijet to ship from Japan. That madness is all on you, pal.
hey motocheez the amount of wireing you do you should get some liquid black tape you can get it from and auto parts of e-bay amazon and it works great i use it on all my wiring i hope this helps you out brother, again thanks for sharing motocheez
I've never tried it... I'll pick some up! Ty
not only that, most of these were "write offs" due to flooding. Drying them up and selling them off ! :D
😄😄
Hey did you know that Arctic Cat used this engine in this micro truck in a snowmobile for a chunk of the 2000s? They made a turbocharged version that pumped out 110 hp. 16 lbs of boost and fuel injection.
I saw they were 2 strokes, never knew was article cat! Cool
@@MotoCheez ohhno,i can see where this is going ,, you're going to be going to all the winter toys junkyard looking for a crashed cat snow mobile,,,,
😄😄😄👍
I would guess that connector you found was for the driver card recorder that is mandatory in Japan for all work vehicles.
Whoa, I never knew that! Interesting. Maybe it is
@@MotoCheez Really hard to find anything about them in English, but I did find an old auction with some pictures of the thing: yahoo.aleado.com/lot?auctionID=j428559182
That looks like the plug too! Whoa
What is all that creaking that the mini truck makes when you're riding it through the woods is that the four-wheel-drive creaking or is that like the the body mounts and do you know if you can register them and drive them on the road in Maine
It’s the body I believe. I don’t think it’s suspension. It’s classic jdm. Maine should register them. 25 plus year old import
Hmm. There’s an app for that? Not sure the reactor vented to the atmosphere. I thought the damage was contained. More likely to find water damage, no? Cheesy, I think you should wear a lead lined diaper, just in case.
Probably.. I already have enough leas in my ass!!
Na-if it was radioactive it would turn green and yell at you. It would be pals with Thor'n shit LOL
It's missing the screw from the instrument cluster from when they rolled the odometer back. Why anyone would think a 25-year-old truck would be low mileage. I just bought one with 56k verified. Will see when it gets here. I call BS on it all.
Yeah, I feel the same way, no way to know. And that screw! I did find it in the video, was wedged on bottom of cluster... Vibration? Tamper. Who knows lol. Only way is check all wearable parts, seats, pedals, engine, driveline leaks...what did you buy?
The unused connector is for the optional engine start button and immobilizer module. You also forgot to code in the tach into the ECU, might start throwing error codes after a while and go into limp mode.
I believe this truck would be OBD1, surprised there would be an immobilizer in a 92 vehicle...
@@MotoCheez That was a joke, chief. Kei cars didn't get luxurious until the late 2000s. Even today, kei trucks and vans are still a little bare on equipment compared to passenger car versions. Still love em though, and loving your videos. Went through them all in 1 sitting.
Haha, I was wondering if it was a joke! Never know lol. Thanks!
Did you combine the red and yellow both to switched positive instead of the yellow to unswitched positive
No. I wired it properly
@@MotoCheez Thanks i just got one and did not want to hook it up direct if possible but i will
This track is from Mie Prefecture where I live from the number plate. (三重)
Awesome 👍
Was I the only one who was nervously expecting a high radiation readout?
I was...
MotoCheez it would have been SO DAMN COOL to see you riding around in that thing all pissed off in a radiation suit.
LMFAO! I should have done that just for as a joke!
@@MotoCheez Did you check the radiation level of your other vehicles for comparison?
No, but it was at the lowest reading, so mini had nothing.
@4:58 The connector must go to whatever that blank on the dash front is covering.
Hmm. Yeah wonder what it is?
Mine has a wiper delay switch right there.
My brother was a nuclear engineer in the navy on the USS Enterprise. They were always required to wear a Geiger counter. One time that I know of he needed to be treated for radiation.
Scary stuff! When I was a kid I had one of the real yellow geiger counters. Took it apart... Wish I still had it today
@@MotoCheez yeah, after he got out in 98 he vowed to never be in the nuclear field ever again, said "he didn't want to glow" for a living haha. Neat!
Damn, I don't blame him. Haha, GLOW
@@MotoCheez Haha, dude is super smart, haven't talked to him in years but I learned a lot from him while hanging out with him when I was younger.
👍👍👍
dam I was hoping the mini truck came from Nuke Town Fallout 3
😄😄🔥🔥 I really should have suited up for the testing. Haha. Another guy said I should have driven it with a radiation suit on.
find some tig welding rods to test the Geiger meter :)
I have some. I'll try that
I'm installing the same tach on my 96 Hijet which has coil packs. I can't seem to find the signal wire for tach input. Any thoughts? Thanks
Im not sure. Maybe the pulse on one of the coil packs? Then you'd probably have to set to single cylinder
Microwaves use radio waves, not radiation.
It's electromagnetic radiation, no, it's not gamma or x-ray So it does not make food radioactive.
MotoCheez I missed the what’s up mini truck.
😁 I forgot
What? you can still eat the food after using it. LOL
In top gear 3000 rpm, what's your speed?
With 24" tires I'm getting 10mph every 1000 RPM. So 30 MPH.
That a cool tach and your friend should not go out in the snow It looks like he have no luck
Thanks. Yeah, right. 2 within an hour!
If it is an S83p EF type engine, 7000rpm is red zone.
Ok. TY
Well if Godzilla make an aperients Mini will make a beeline back to Japan to defend it home land'
Were he will pack up with his brothers and Godzilla is doomed ; )
Haha! That's right!!👍👍
Search T660 Turbo Arctic Cat. 110 hp in one of these midgets would be entertaining.
🖒🖒🖒🖒
🔥🔥🔥😁
Different front end,
That "Smartgeiger" is a scam. Look up some test videos.
Yes Mie!! Mie's mechanic ua-cam.com/video/_NHzNxNbTE4/v-deo.html
