      I'd need to gear mini up to hit that speed with stock motor. Would be 10,000 RPMs! I'd image it would be scary. My tires wouldn't take the speed either. Would have to go back to smaller road tires.

    @andreduplessis508 5 років тому +1

    Your truck is starting to look great.
    I used mine to commute (to work on Mondays and back on Fridays), 220km one way.
    Here in South Africa you really need to keep up with traffic in Gauteng Province where I worked otherwise you are asking for trouble. This means sometimes going as fast as 140km/h (you get used to the sensation - scary at first).
    Having a 1300cc 16 valve motor helps.
    The only problem I only noticed afterwards was hearing loss from the constant hum in the cab. (Please ensure that you use ear plugs when driving these cars long distance).
    My truck isn't used on a regular basis anymore. It is parked in my storage shed. Due to me now working in a more rural part I'm using my Land Rover Defender Puma purely for the bigger wheel diameter due to the bad road conditions. What I do not get is the excellent fuel consumption I had with my mini.

    If the 4wd engages electronicly, add a switch to disengage. If mechanical, add separate handle setup to engage front when needed.

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  5 років тому +2

      It's electronic over vacuum actuated, I'm going to have to track down that wire where it goes through the switch.

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  5 років тому +2

      Additional note, the high neutral low range selector is mechanical when you pull it up into low range it must hit a switch and actuate the 4 by 4 because when you put it in for high you have to push the button to actuate it so I have to find that wire

  • @thephotographicauditor6715
    @thephotographicauditor6715 5 років тому +4

    Some of the taller lift kits for 4WDs have an angled axle block to ease the driveshaft/axle angle towards the transfer case. Maybe, check into something like that when you address the air-shocks. Longer U-bolts may be required tho.

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  5 років тому +3

      that's a good idea although that angle doesn't look too far off if you see it in the video it's the actual angle off of the tails peace. Universal joints are only supposed to go 15 degrees Max

    • @thephotographicauditor6715
      @thephotographicauditor6715 5 років тому +3

      MotoCheez Yeah, The ones I've seen are made from aluminum or steel, similar to a larger wedge door-stop, with a pin/hole in the middle to keep them centered on the axle mounting blocks. I imagine a wood or phenolic piece would suffice for short term testing purposes, IF your U-Bolts are long enough.

      Makes me wonder too if there would be some way to lift the front end of the engine and tranny up a bit. Put the whole thing on an angle, but higher up so that it doesn't have to drop down to the floor ro maintain proper angle. Might need a custom length shaft to make that work though...

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  5 років тому +2

      front shaft would be on more of an agle .. raising the front may be a good idea I'll have to look. I test drove just now and noise it totally gone. 5 degrees is ideal according to what I researched 15 max

    27 x 8.50 x 14 Kumho Road venture MT should be your next set lol. I saw them on Japanese mini trucks of America FB page. You dropped the back of the drivetrain to ease the driveline angle...a little drop in the front should allow the 3" spacers above the coils 😉

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  5 років тому

      Yeah I saw you have to drop the driveline down so the axles aren't over flexed, I didn't really look much into it because I was worried about the steering shaft Etc maybe one of my next big upgrades at one point but I'm okay with what I have right now. I'd also would need a little more power if I start putting bigger wheels that's why I went with the 23s it's a good combination a lot of hills around here

    That is one short drive shaft. It also looked like the angles of the two joints were not equal. I think that's an issue with U-joints. Could CV joints be used to space them? Probably a lot of work. Like the tires and springs on her.

    • @MotoCheez

    Gearvenders industries use to offer a deal that went in the front part of the T case it was cable drawn that would disconnect the front drive train, it kinda looked like a planerty gear set and the sun gear would disconnect like a lockable hub, ive not looked to see if they still build them , but i am sure anyone that makes under/overdriver units would be able to help ya on that. We live in Pa. west of Reading, and at the end of October, and the end of April we have a Land Rover Event in Robesonia, Pa. All are welcomed no matter what you drive. Something like that mini-truck would turn alot of heads up this way. The hospital on the other side of the mountain has a couple, but not like yours with the lift and bigger tires. Check out 'Roversclub.org' if you would be interested in coming sometime.
