...quick hack...use discarded polystyrene packing blocks for a sanding block..they conform to all shapes better than a wooden block...works fine for me...
Great video. This was a lot more helpful than some of the other modification videos I have seen. I have some good plans for my Cold Steel War Hammer now.
What a transformation! you have turned a nice axe into a great axe great work buddy, nice job with the cold blue, i tried to cold blue an old air rifle 20 odd years ago & made a pig ear of it ! atb idris.
cracking vid, loved were it ended up, looked well, and definatly better than when it 1st arrived, cracking vids mate, keep em coming, all the best, john
Thanks for the inspiration, I want to do similar to my warhammer but use the alumnium black stuff for the hammer head and rub wd40 to prevent rust. The handle Ill do what you did but I'm using a dark teak stain and beeswax to finish. Love the hawk tho, I just can't decide what one to get eventually. I have my warhammer to get on with anyway. Thanks.
Lovely work mate. I love my 'hawk and I must get some pimping done to her. I leave the screw out of my hawk head as it makes it easier to break down and keep in my tool kit in the van. Love your cat, by the way, he looks about the same size as my dogs lol ;)
Looks brilliant bud . Might have to look into the gun blue , I like that finish . Any plans to improve the edge ? Mine was piss poor from stock . Awesome bud
I tried the same with my trail hawk, used the same walnut stain, but it turns more grey then brown. What did I do wrong? Did I use the wrong grid sand paper? Did I not sand it enough?
looks good! i just recently got one of these myself and am looking to do pretty much these same mods. have you found that after stripping the black paint from the hawk that it's any more prone to rusting? that's pretty much my only concern.
i did back it up a little before i blued it going to hit it again to give it a nice polish and maybe fill that hole as i have some jb weld hanging around from making stoves. glad you liked it bud Argo
I like this straight to the point, no bollox, just this is what i'm going to do and you do it you don't take 5 minutes to explain everything.
Thank you, lucky I don't like talking on camera a great lot ha ha!
All the best Argo.
Nice job. Ready and waiting (in a conspicuous place) to be admired or to deal with unwanted guests. Love your tats, too.

putting the stripper on that wooden handle... dunno man, heh. ..
They come with wax shit all over them you could waste time with some sand paper 3 years on and it's going strong.
