  • Join Stone Site Investigator Mike Luoma for a quick look at some curious stonework in Holliston, Massachusetts. Mike took part in a Field Trip as part of the NEARA (New England Antiquities Research Association) 2023 Fall Conference.
The Field Trip was led by local preservationist Joanne Hulbert, who set a brisk pace. With no time for shooting videos, Mike relied on still photos for this short presentation. You can see two stone rows with curiously shaped stones, a possibly perched boulder, and a potential rockshelter.
A short-length share of some curious-looking stonework, which may whet your appetite for more. It did Mike's, who plans to return to linger longer in the future.
As always, this is all DIY by Mike Luoma except for the music used, which was composed and performed by Kevin MacLeod. Official Music Credits follow.

I live in a town founded in 1634 and have explored the woods next to my house. I have found many stone formations, stone cellar holes and even stone lined wells. History here is unbelievable, just wish there was more freedom.

Was this video shot anywhere near the rail trail by the arch bridge?

I'm not sure, it was a guided hike and I didn't see the rail trail or arch bridge, that I know of.

Alot of history in Mass, to start with the rocks are generally there from retreating glaciers 100,000 years ago or so. Some of those rocks definitly look placed by man but why and when!
