Gregory Kadonsky Makes perfect sense. ILC Dover was the company in charge of America's space suits from Mercury program all the way up to today. ILC (International Latex Corporation) made women's undergarments from rubber that was very durable but comfortable. It took them quite awhile to perfect the suit for mainly Apollo but they beat out several companies, including the Navy for the space suit contracts. It's only natural for someone who dealt in men and women's comfortable clothing that knows a thing or two about materials; past, present and future.

You'd actually be really surprised in some of the companies that played their part in both military and space design (and not just by giving them money) . Cereal companies, clothing companies, and the obvious one, computer/electronic companies.

Spacesuits are the ultimate clothing. Everything that can keep you alive & well from the microgravity vacuum workplace of an EVA to walking on a Planet with un-breathable air! Ultimately in the future, spacesuits will be as common as mattresses or camping equipment?

Fascinating, Gentleman. As a person who has had a great interest in space and manned space travel, and as one who is an artist, I am very inspired by both of you, combining the disciplines of artistic design and engineering. I, too, loved science prophesy (science fiction), as a boy, and when I drew astronauts, I attempted to consider logical issues pertaining to the suits I drew. In particular, I never liked conduits for water, air, CO2 and cables on the outside--despite the ease of maintenanc

A depressing thing about space, is that even if we master space-travel technology, finding a way to propel vessels at light- or near-light speed, it would still take over 4 years to get to the nearest star (besides our own sun of course), and that's a bit of a stretch, just to get a tan...
A little over 22 years, to get to anywhere near a possible Earth-like planet, in the Gliese 581 system.
None the less, it's still amazingly cool to see continuing development EVA suit and such.

The fact that a Russian and an American are working together to pave the way for humanity's future in the galaxy makes me happy. The fact that a few people from a few different nations are cooperating on the ISS brings joy to my heart. Slowly...very slowly, we're uniting as one race, it seems. Humanity. Now, if only what you see happen in this video could be done on a much larger scale. Hopefully it will happen soon, and that will be Man's greatest day.

I just checked that out, thanks. -As well other related videos.
Indeed it's pretty cool, but most of it theoretical.
However it seems a bit incomprehensible at the time, since we don't really harness the full control over that kind of amount of energy required.
I saw Dr. Michio Kaku was on the case and I always like hearing how he explains the theories through simpler, understandable terms and analogies.

Have you fellows ever thought about a fluid filled suit rather than air filled. The one layer design lends itself to the concept. You do know about liquid oxygen suits for diving, right? They use Oxygenated Fluorocarbon Emulsion... Such as space suit would definitely extend the period of time the suit can operate immensely.

No you are absolutely right.Russia or before it fell,The Soviet Union, picked the "spherical" or round shape in their spacecraft, subs and jets. Now a jet or sub is not round but they designed the center of mass to be spherical like their spacecraft. They knew a object that was round would be able to withstand more pressure from all points. The only bad thing is the extra bulkiness that you have to have or it will come apart.I guess thats why other countries always worked around that problem.

It depends. There was an article recently about scioentists saying that star trek style warp travel might be possible in the future. The problem now isn't that it's impossible, just that the current model requires about as much energy as the total US energy usage, though they have gotten that down from the previous estimate (all the power in the universe), with any luck we'll crack warp travel one day and distance will no longer be an issue!

I've seen a video with a woman working for nasa on the next gen space suit. it looked way more awesome and normal than any space suit i've seen including this video you should check her out and add it to this video.
her technology had something to do with tight lines running over the suit giving more compression to negate the pressure you need to build up by a noticeable amount.
