Thanks for your video! This is super helpful :). Question: I need to replace the motherboard, and its serial number is 686041-601, but I can't seem to find any replacements with that number. I can only find 686041-001. Do you know if that's a compatible replacement?
@@limitsofabstraction entirely possible, i haven't had this device for a few years so anything i say is based on this vid and a blurry memory, i believe i used a single PH tip, but i may be wrong
@@HDGamersArchive But that would then suggest that at least it's feasible even with just a PH 0 or a PH 1. I just want to make sure I'd get the right model.
@@limitsofabstraction for taking this apart, a single ph1 should be fine, might need a bit of finesse while doing the smaller screws. if possible you may look into getting a set with multiple tips so you can be sure you have what you need.
Hi there, I don't have the laptop anymore unfortunately, but from the video,. It's either the small round object just left of th chip set, (can be seen at around 13:21) or it is under the key board on the other side of the motherboard that's not shown here, hope this helps
Thanks, I've had this thing forever and it really helps the thing run without a pound of dust inside

on a clue sorry, i think you will have to go onto an HP group and ask them about it, good luck with it though !
Man, they made it too difficult.
yea, I am not a smart man.
What are the tools needed for all of this?
just a Philips screwdriver and a thin flat object if you feel like it
@@HDGamersArchive But official source suggested at least PH 0 and 1 screwdrivers. And there are more than two screw sizes I believe.
