Lauren, I think you are doing a pretty fantastic job of running the shop from your end! There are bound to be lots of growing pains, but the main thing to remember is to keep the shop at the shop - live your lives together - the second you close the door for the night, it's family time and tomorrow is another day.
My wife was an office manager for years and she taught me a lot about organization. She said organization was paramount to getting things done and done right. It is harder without a mentor to show you the ropes. You'll make more mistakes but you will learn faster. I believe you will do fine because you already know what you need to learn. I'm glad Ray is getting some help. He needs it badly. He is burning himself out. I wish both of you great success. Keep having fun. That makes the day go so much better. 🙂
Most honest mechanic in the world, Ray has way to much work, because of his quality and honesty. I wish we were closer to ya'll, I would love for him to be our mechanic . God bless you both and your business.

I don't know if you know this or not, but we, your "fans" are emotionally invested in both you and Ra-Ray and how things are going at the new shop and in your lives. With all of the absolute GARBAGE that is on UA-cam these days, I look forward every day to your videos because they're clean, fun, emotionally uplifting and instructive, all at the same time. All the best wishes to you and Ra-Ray for continued success and keep doin' what you're doin'...
We watch a dude fixing cars. Not supercars/special cars. Just normal cars. For us to do that, the dude must be something worth watching - I totally agree... many of us would happy work with Ray and learn. The way he does videos, you kinda learn by osmosis. It's a big step from knowing theory to practical tho - but many folks that are talented with DIY repairs on cars will learn tricks from Ray !
@@duncanmcewan1049 I don't usually learn a whole lot because I've been in the repair business for almost 50 years, but I still enjoy watching because of his personality and the family stuff is great too. He definitely seems like someone that I would be good friends with if I knew him and Lauren. I just think they're good people.
It's amazing how much the business grew in just a few short months, but we have to be realistic. Ray, as talented and hard working as he is can't do a proper job if he needs to do the office, shop and possibly teaching (if at all) a new helping hand. And having you at his side running the office (even though you still are learning what it takes) is like taking the weight of the world off his shoulders. Very happy you decided to take such a leap of faith. Wishing you all the best. Kind regards.
Ray's definitely in good hands with you in the office. He may not say it in his videos, but the way he stays focused on the repair work means you're definitely keeping the office under control.
I’m so glad the business is expanding already. Ray doesn’t always seem 100% safe without ‘back-up’, and the last thing I want to hear is that he has hurt himself. He’s such a lucky guy having you on the Admin side. I’m sure you will do a wonderful job - even if you’re learning as you go! Hi Lauren. A great “good news” video. It’s awesome that the shop is expanding. From what I can see you are doing a fantastic job on the admin side. With the two of you teaching the new hire I am sure he will put as much care and attention into the business as you both do. Well done - onwards and upwards. Dave Birmingham England.
I used an on line payroll service, I believe it was Quickbooks payroll, but most any five star payroll service will work, when I "hired" a sitter for my mother in law in the nursing home at the time (2016-2020). The service took care of all reporting, including state, and tracks all the withholding and required deposit requirements with the government. I directly transferred the check to my "employee" and the service printed out a payroll advice to go with it. Worked perfectly. Right now I am using an on line church software which includes a payroll module, which takes care of the six employees in the church, prints the payroll checks, deposit reports, and quarterly 941 and all reporting. You don't need to pay for the service to do the reports on line and direct deposits, that is expensive. I just print the checks, sign and give them out, and print out reports to mail in. I could not exist as a treasurer of a small enterprise (church) without these kinds of helps. If you ever need any specific advice (for free and non-professional) you can contact my channel commercial email. I will pray for you. Blessings, Albert
I'm completely self-taught in my industry and now I train other people to do what I do. I learned this early on: Necessity is the mother of all invention. Your'e doing great.
Congrads on the new hire. Your an AWESOME WIFE. Supporting your husband's dreams, and the family business. I really wish my community could even get close to your success. My communities wmn are not supportive at all, they would rather take and destroy instead of building. I envy you and Ray!!!!!
You have my every sympathy Leanne! Learning to complete all the government paperwork, for a new employee, for the first time, is a mountain in any country! Good 🤞🤞 luck! (I remember my first time 50 years ago..) The good news is that you're going to prosper as a family and as a viable business! 🤔👌👍

I’m at this point make a suggestion and an observation and it concerns another channel that Ray watches I know Eric O of SMA. My suggestion is this why don’t you hook up with Mrs O who organises Eric’s office another Husband and Wife team, and see what help or advice that she can give you to help you get through things in Florida while they have New York State at its weather treasures to deal with. My observation is this, I believe that both Husbands have made the point that they have beautiful Wives! I simply want agree with them both 😊 God Bless you all a happily married man in 🇬🇧
It is GREAT to see the shop so busy and active. Hope the new guy lives up to expectations. One thing I do know is that between Ray and you the shop is only going to get better and better. I really wish you guys were within a reasonable distance from here. Finding a competent mechanic, as opposed to a technician, is bloody near impossible for even simple repairs. It was a close call after having a U Joint changed. That took 2 shops and a buddy to get right! You would think a Volvo 240 was something exotic or strange. Nobody wants to work on it. I had one nitwit tell me he couldn't look at the back axle because it was "too exotic". I laughed because he told me that while rebuilding the back axle out of a Jeep Wrangler. The reason I laughed is that the innards if the Jeep are Dana 30, the same as the back axle in my 1990 Volvo!

Congratulations Laurel & Ray! Small business owners are the main stay of employment & the economy. They are the biggest employer group and take big risks just to keep their doors open. I do hope the new employee is everything you both want in an employee, someone who is willing to do thing as you and Ray want done, and is willing to accept change where it is required. You & Ray are troopers!! Laurel, you are doing great. I do hope their are organisations you can go to for assistance. In Australia we have "small business" groups and people that advocate for them. I hope you have similar groups in America that you can contact to help you when needed. Having said that, you are clearly doing well teaching yourself. Keep doing what you are ding & I am sure you will succeed in everything you do.
Lauren, I am so Proud of You, and Ray, starting from scratch, and with your Adorable kids, that has to naturally be a little extra work to shuffle.. A new employee will add to the payroll, but hopefully end up giving you all a little extra time Together
Ray getting some help in the workshop is a major win - but not surprising :) Some things need 2 people to do - and that doesn't include how much more jobs can be brought in. Hopefully it is someone with Ray's ethics - as being a decent honest mechanic is so key to the business :) Also - learning to run the shop is tough but is as important as what happens in the workshop. Without organisation (as you mentioned), nothing works.
Well said about organisation, as organisation maintains order, and without order there is only disorder! Keep up the great work! It's great to see you and Ray are doing well, and that the business is slowing expanding.
Wanting to do it right and caring about doing it right means that you're already more than half way to doing it right. You'll win!

Hi Lauren. A great “good news” video. It’s awesome that the shop is expanding. From what I can see you are doing a fantastic job on the admin side. With the two of you teaching the new hire I am sure he will put as much care and attention into the business as you both do. Well done - onwards and upwards. Dave Birmingham England.
Great job Lauren and I’m sure, with you in charge, everything will turn out alright. Of times the best education is the one you teach yourself!
good deal. glad to see Ray is going to have some help ! And you Lauren are in there helping too, and learning along the way. Thanks for the update!
I missed the shop banter, especially Peter, glad to see Ray has a helper now! Best of luck to you all!
Hi John. Wife Unit's name is Lauren.
Thought you'd like to know. That's all.
That's why you outsource all of that to a specialist company... The best way to do it is to use a PEO which also handles HR issues.
@@ckm-mkc ...India's too far away for outsourcing...( I'm kidding off course ; just saying...India is used by many outsourcing companies . Coding 's an example...)
Hey Lauren this is WONDERFUL NEWS I’m really excited for you both!! It’s amazing to see Ray blossoming in the business and watching the two of you bringing home together!
I simply want agree with them both 😊
God Bless you all a happily married man in 🇬🇧
It is GREAT to see the shop so busy and active. The reason I laughed is that the innards if the Jeep are Dana 30, the same as the back axle in my 1990 Volvo!
well ray was busier than a 1 legged man at a butt kicking contest and a bricklayer with 1 arm combined... good move taking on a extra hand nice work ray and wife unit
Hey Lauren, great to see you have some help for Ray. And good on you for taking the office job doing the stuff us self employed guys don't like doing. You guys are such a nice loving family and it makes me feel good to see you growing your own business. Maybe the kids will be interested in getting involved. Cheers!
You'all have such a great family ... God Bless You all !!! My two kids are grown, graduated from college and working ... I 've been there where you two are !!!
Congrats Lauren and Ray on the new Employee, I hope he fits into your hardworking family. Treat him right and he will stay because he is treated like family. Like others have said I think we all knew this day would come as working as a one man operation can only go so far and as you said you can only do so much. Have fun and learning new stuff never stops.
You are awesome! And Ray finally has help with the shop. I know that both of you will be successful in your business!
One more thing I think you're doing a fantastic job on your channel Lauren, Ray is a very lucky man
Well done you 2 , company growth is good .I am so glad it appears to be working out amazingly well . Keep those vids coming .❤
🎉 y'all got this. Glad Ray got some help. But like the other comments say when you're done for the night leave it behind the doors and be a family 😊. Wishing y'all nothing but the best from California. Stay safe and God Bless. Thanks for sharing I sure do enjoy all the videos.
God bless you both. I’m very happy the business is doing well and growing. It’s great seeing things from your side of the operation.
I knew it! I just knew it! I knew when he left that last shop that you guys would be growing. Congratulations guys!
Your very brave for learning all about the office on your own. That would make me very nervous. Fantastic
I really enjoying watching your new adventure. You and Ray are a hoot.
Well said about organisation, as organisation maintains order, and without order there is only disorder!
Keep up the great work! It's great to see you and Ray are doing well, and that the business is slowing expanding.
Lauren, the fun is starting to be finance leader of the operation. We are rooting for you ❤❤❤❤😊😊
Organization is the best canvas to paint on. Keep on inspiring and thriving
