I rather stupidly took my Honda CRF250 Rally on an Enduro track!
This was on the Somerset TRF Scramble Charity Day

Changing a CFR250 clutch takes a home mechanic about an hour - I had exactly the same experience with mine when I took it on an enduro training day. The Lightweight Adventurer UA-cam video is useful to show you how (though there are loads) and the whole thing cost me maybe £120 for parts (clutch plates, gasket, oil/filter). Then I sold it and bought a KTM. Edited to add: you really, REALLY don't need to take it to a dealer or a mechanic. If I can do it in an hour in my hallway (no garage) then frankly anyone can!
Thanks mate, I completely agree and will be doing it myself. Watched a few vids looks pretty straightforward.
I was looking at getting something more Enduro, but the CRF is so versatile, not sure how well a 2 stroke 300 would cope on a daily commute
Looks like a cracking day evan with a broken rally 😢😂
Most certainly was
Looks like you had a good day! The biggest difference from a proper enduro bike to that CRF (other than weight) will be the suspension and chassis i.e geometry - makes literally a world of difference! Also a bit of speed is your friend, you see when the speed increases the mud flies off the tyres, clearing the tread and then you have more grip as the tyres can dig into the dirt as they are supposed too.
Hard to see on camera but doesn't look like you move around much on the seat. Get your knackers right up on the tank cap in the bends and standing up and leaning towards the rear mudguard will give rear grip when on a straight. I remember my first couple of goes and it was mega!
Sounds like you may have got the bug
Nah not moving enough and not experienced enough. I may have the bug, but not the funds
@@tomstc I thought that but we all start somewhere. You could probably slowly upgrade the CRF into a very handy offroad weapon for not too much outlay - fork and rar shock upgrade would do it wonders
Sorry your bike broke, should be an easy fix.
Nice to have been loaned the enduro bikes, 2T bikes are a lot of fun. I've not ridden on a track in years, is totally different riding style to trail riding, you need to be much more aggressive to get the bike to turn, you really need to push it down and get the edge of the tyre to do its thing. That looked super sticky though, clay is horrid hahaha 😀
I contemplated the Beta X-Trainer which has a detuned 300cc engine from the RR, but ended up with my Beta 390RR as 4T makes more sense for trail riding.
Being loaned the bikes was awesome, it enabled me to see the real differences.
@@tomstc yup... I am so glad I decided to keep my enduro bike, they are so much fun to ride even at my slow and wobbly pace! 😃
Brilliant, now you need to sell your soul to buy a KTM🤣🤣
Haha
