We do everything else at my shop besides this. I have a good machine shop guy who presses our cranks back together when we can't get a complete crank. I would really like to be able to check runout though just in case!
@restoroosterohv I appreciate it. I will subscribe! I really needed a truing stand to check out the runout on a crank 3 weeks ago. We sold a brand new Gasgas MC65 and it was vibrating bad. KTM asked me to check runout but I had to send it back to them. The end of the crankshaft ended up being milled with too much clearance between the bearing. I've heard other 65s around the US have been vibrating lately as well
I was doing the same thing this winter. The trueing is what made me decide it was not worth my time. Local shop will replace the rod for $100. I am a big DIY guy so it is a skill I want to learn. To help get close i 3D printed a big sleeve that fits around the crank webs to hold them in alignment when pressing. Just to help get closer for trueing. But I never finished so not sure how well it would have worked
Nice 👍 but you'll need thinner press plate if going to do Twostrokes. 1/4" and 5/16" . Takes little practice and learning but pretty easy. Ktm cranks I have the hardest time with lol tight tight
@@restoroosterohv hard tool steel or will bend. I went thru that ended up buying a 1/4" and 5/16" from LAD industries. For Yamaha cart cranks but work on all cranks just have to cut the U out a little bit on 5/16" one for 250+ cranks.
hey man, i have an 08 crf450 and i cant get it running. ive literally tried everything, bike has compression, valves are in spec, has spark and fuel. ive tried just about everything and dont know what to do. any ideas?
I’ll see if I can help. It’s an 08 so it’s carbureted. The only thing you didn’t mention was the whether or not your camshaft timing was correct. Double check all of your timing marks. Did you do a compression reading and what number did you get?
@@Kolbyproduced during the leak down test, was there any air coming out of the intake, exhaust or cooling system? What is the condition of your air filter, I’m assuming you checked that and make sure it wasn’t dirty and clogged. Have you tried to score a little fuel mixed with two-stroke oil directly into the back of the carburetor? Does it try to start or absolutely nothing?
You tha man!!! 👍
Haha, thanks
Another great video!!!
Thank you, I appreciate your continued support

As soon as I get another crank job, I will do a detailed video on truing them.

Wow, that’s a great deal on the crank rebuild. Good idea for holding the webs in place too.

Appreciate the advice. I wasn’t sure how thin to go on the plate for strength. I will make a few more with those dimensions. Yet to do a crank though.

@@thetwostrokerebuilder good tips, thank you.
How strong is your press?

@@restoroosterohv timing is perfect ive done it lik 5 times lol, also made sure flywheel was good and the key wasnt missing
thankyou btw
did not do compression test due to decomp, but i did do leak down and had less than 20% leakage aka the green section on my gauge
