- Chris Rock was born in South Carolina but grew up in Brooklyn, NY with four brothers, the oldest of which died of alcoholism. Rock was bused to poor white neighborhoods experiencing bullying and beatings eventually dropping out to get a GED. He started comedy in 1984, bacame friends with Eddie Murphy and got his first movie role in Beverly Hills Cop II. Joining SNL in 1990 he was part of the bad boys of SNL with Farley, Schneider, Spade and Sandler. 1991 was his first album Born Suspect at a time he gained noteriety for playing a crackhead in New Jack City.
Leaving SNL frustrated he joined In Living Color before it got cancelled. In Hollywood he recorded his first HBO special Big Ass Jokes 1994, the second special on HBO Bring the Pain was his big break noted for his take on racism in America. HBO specials in 1999 and 2004 were Bigger and Blacker and Never Scared, reviewers dubbed him as the funniest man in America. He also had a talk show on HBO The Chris Rock Show for five seasons, Louis CK was a writer for fyi. His last special was in 2008 Kill the Messenger. He made a documentary on ethnic hair care products called Good Hair everyone should check that out and his most recent project is called Credit is the Devil.

I love Chris, my wife who has passed and I saw him in Dayton, Ohio in 95. Dude was hysterical, embarrassed me, humbled me and we saw no color that night. He embarrassed white people right off the bat and two wonderful black ladies in front of us saw that I was embarrassed by what he said about "the mall" and turned around and gave us both big hugs. There were people all around us patting us on the back and laughing with us...it was unity at it's finest...such a great memory...❤

Honestly. I was always a fan and grew up watching Everybody hates Chris but it never hit me how legendary he is until now!
I somehow keep forgetting that Chris Rock is one of the greatest comedians of all time. Then, I see something like this and I'm like "Oh, right."
You're not the only one either. This is what so many people say. I think it's because he doesn't put out as much material, as his contemporaries. So they often forget, until they watch him on UA-cam and remember just how great he is.
There's no doubt, that between the mid 90s to the late 00s. He was easily in the top five comedians of the world. Bring the pain, Bigger and Blacker and Never Scared are certified classics. Also, Everybody hates Chris is a genius sitcom that deserves more praise.

Chris is a bad boy, but I think Dave edges him out, Those are my favorite 2, but Dave is 1, Chris said himself Dave is the only guy who puts a little fear in him, that's the guy who Chris mention, he doesn't fear any other comedian with good reason, he doesn't have to, because he's better than the rest of them.
