The French are renowned for their brilliantly bizarre and visually visceral films. Without any dialogue, the film captures gluttony, one of the seven deadly sins, and the subsequent descent into Hell. Bravo!!!
Big Corps, Global Banks, the 1 %, taking and taking. All of the servants eager to serve, not understanding they're slaves to these entities, with the one exception of the man who seems to be giving instructions to the staff. He might represent the minority of average citizens who knows what's going on. In the end, he's the one who looks on with satisfaction as the rich finally seem to put an end to themselves. Those eating represent the “human race”, those serving and following from floor to floor are our innovations manifest. To me this represents how we are bringing about our own destruction. The gluttony represents mankind’s desire for more, eating of the exotic animals represents our need to dominate the “lesser” species. The woman who hesitated represents how at times as a society we get glimpses of what we are doing, feel bad for a short time and then someone comes up with the newest “MicRib” and then it’s back to our same old habits. The sounds they make while eating is a metaphors for the “sound of success”. The falling has many meanings, it is directly inversely proportionate to our “rise” as the human race showing us how even though we are “gaining” and “progressing” we are intact digging our own bottomless pit.

Weirdly fascinating and disturbing to the right amount (which means that the directors knew very well the thin line between horror uneasiness and simple disgust!) The whole cast did an excellent job almost without a single word. My guess is that the movie is a metaphor for our society, the average people working until death to satisfy the greed of some unknown, few elites. The last scene, with the emphasis on the eye, is a reference to the Illuminati maybe?
Really clever movie! I saw it as the people at the table being the elite (the richest in our society) constantly eating to symbolize their endless greed and the table falling through the floor is symbolizing how this is not sustainable. The woman at the table who initially refused to eat symbolizes someone who's born into this kind of richness but knows it's not right and so she abstains from gorging herself. But in the end when she realizes they are all going to fall anyway she finally gives in and becomes like the rest of them.
Consume, consume, consume.....everything. But it’s never enough! Everybody must “one up” their neighbors 💀 Even as the world crumbles around them. Greed & servitude
I've been trying to make sense out of it... I'd say the message is that those who endulge in gluttony and greed are just a few more bites away from eternal damnation.
This is brilliant and also very topical. On a technical level, this is perfect. I caught this one years ago and I'm glad to revisit it. Thanks Screamfest.
Would be awesome to do a cardinal sins series. Although I doubt many people know what the cardinal sins or the seven deadly sins are anymore as many people mentioned greediness in the comments. The sin of gluttony is exhibited in this film. The punishment for the gluttonous people is to not be able to stop eating even when served disgusting items... even to the point of force feeding for the diner who passed out. Excellent short film.
Wow!!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 One of the most fascinating & thought provoking short film I have come across!!! There’s so many layers of interpretation in this; I freakin love it!!!! I hope there’s an article or video of the writer discussing this piece 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Right someone said that it could be like corporate greed but it also could be like an addiction to drugs, gambling Etc and how it takes your family and loved ones down with them. And they're trying to make you happy but nothing is good enough and they keep using and family tails behind cleaning up their mess and enabling them... Until they hit rock bottom.
At first I thought one of the 7 deadly sins Greed and not being satisfied with anything and they have everything so they eat for control it’s like a high for them to push the limits to see how far they can go it’s a power trip for them and every time they fall they have a chance to stop and walk away but they continue to eat because they believe they are powerful . Good video 👍🏽
I like this idea than The Platform to be honest. I wonder how they'd make the plot longer to become that kind of a full length, and how many batches of people eating there will be. The different personalities in each batch would be very interesting to watch.
My Interpretation: We are the diners, we consume video after video. The filmmaker is serving us as much as we want. Each time we fall through the floor, it is on to another video. But we are never satisfied.
Holy shit, that's some high budget short and the concept is superb. You make the way they eat disturbing kudos to the director. Totally one of the best short film that I've seen in a while.
A pleasant divergence from the norm, in more ways than one. Above par production values. Outstanding makeup, costumes, props, and sets. The facial character of the actors cast is spot-on. Minimalist storyline done right. Evokes a slow-burning existential fear, not a cheap & easy "gotcha" scare or game of "wait for the twist". Maybe the best thing I've viewed on this channel. Kudos.
Love it! Absolutely loved it!! When they went to the next floor to wait for them to fall through it’s absolutely had me on the edge to know what would happen next!!
What I really like about those horror short films it's the fact that it's not scary without raison or purpose, it's a story, a metaphor behind all this and its showing us the ugly truth, greed, hate, murder, sometimes justice or punishment. I really enjoyed this one and right I will not eat meat for a will
3 and a half minutes in and this film is AMAZING already. That mans face is so intriguing. BRAVO BRAVO! I dont know what im about to watch, but Im in love with this wonderful production already. Great work on all fronts---the effects, music, acting, editing, lighting...you name it...all in such a short period. Im sure it wont disappoint.....Oh oh and the costumes, makeup and hair...fantastic. No i dont work for any of these people and no im no high lol. Just something new and awesome is a gem these days. Not quite horror but horrific visually and metaphorically in its own way. Also usually not a fan of those types films but loved this.
Awesome! I'll be honest: I was going to skip this one, because I don't like French films in general, but I'm so glad I stayed! (I know now that it's French-Canadian). This is a horror film I won't soon forget! Truly unique in every way, viscerally terrifying, stomach-churning, and thought-provoking. I believe this is about the sin of gluttony, and what it does to the body (notice all the meat and innards). I think they're all in Hell, or were at least on their way, before the reluctant woman eventually gave in to her desires and they finally got there. Truly excellent horror!
Different. Very different. But, that's usually the way with some foreign films. I also find that some of them involve a lot of eating of food. This was darkly humorous, but, also entertaining. I enjoyed it, in an odd way.

We humans are devouring this world, and everything in it. And one day it will be are downfall, if we don't learn to be more responsible. That's what I get from this film.

This is what my family reunion looks like LMAOOO. They're like my mf cousins and uncles eating eveything like an animal. And i'm just like: CAN I GET A SALAD? 💀💀💀
I think this was a show of how the stripping and killing of this planet would be ultimately lead to its destruction through the greed of the human race... Loved it ty
My Mom: Don't watch UA-cam videos while eating Me: Still watches UA-cam videos while eating Then the eating scene comes Me: I wish I have listened to my mom
What would have been a great ending if the man in charge and all the workers, We then go down to the last floor we're all the people were injured and they would clean them up ,cook them and then they would eat them. That would be some sort of justice .
I like to think that they're trapped in this building, and the only way out is to literally *eat their way* out my collapsing the floors. That's why everyone gets excited each time they reach the next floor - they're that much closer
You know, this could also be interpreted as the government providing for the bread and circuses for the masses......and the masses continuing to consume such provision upon their own lusts.....leading only to their ultimate demise.....one step (or floor) at at time.
I think this was about addiction , while you're indulging your addiction you feel amazing all the while you're plummeting to your death but you cannot stop and there are people feeding your problem no matter how far down you go.

And they're trying to make you happy but nothing is good enough and they keep using and family tails behind cleaning up their mess and enabling them... Until they hit rock bottom.
Lucifer: This oddly resembles a few places in the circle of gluttony.....
Maybe adding dialogue could make it longer
It is obvious that 'The Platform' was inspired by 'Next Floor'
I was just scrolling the comments waiting for someone to mention The Platform!
Sameeee
I just started watching the platform and realised it sounded very familiar.
@@ajh757why would you ever do something so pointless.
My Interpretation:
We are the diners, we consume video after video. The filmmaker is serving us as much as we want. Each time we fall through the floor, it is on to another video. But we are never satisfied.
Nice
Holy shit, that's some high budget short and the concept is superb. You make the way they eat disturbing kudos to the director. Totally one of the best short film that I've seen in a while.
The sounds of their chewing and silverware was awesome!! Great story!!♥️♥️👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼
My kind of horror.. I loved it! The story is about cannibalism, greed and obesity. Dang
I agree! Rossi! Not Ruth! U obviously don't get it!
Never in my life could l even have imagined such a movie. Congratulations on something new⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Glad you enjoyed the film. Thanks for watching!
Kudos.
This comment IS
My fave!!
Wow!
Thank you for that!
🌼😀🌼😀🌼😀🌼
This was actually funny. I loved it, especially the ending when the whole group was falling from floor to floor... NEXT!
Now I can tell screamfast is getting my heart. Excellent actings, editing, visual effects, script itself. Keep it up. Great job
Later on @tripadvisor: "the food was nice, the experience was good. But I give 6 stars because the service stopped after a certain time"
I watch so many shorts and this is the best one I have seen in awhile! The noises of the food being eaten... So gross but I loved it!
No one and nothing can satisfy the greed of the greedy rich educated people even if theres unlimited supply. Eventually its too much them to take in.
I really enjoyed this one and right I will not eat meat for a will
Great casting! Everybody in it is rightly suited for the motion of their character.
So glad you liked it! Thanks for watching and your insightful comment!
Dinner party eating there way to hell.

Gluttony
That's the thing about HELL The Repetition
I'm not hungry anymore
I laughed too hard when they fell.. I knew that was going to happen lol
LOVE THIS.
Purgatory.
Well that takes care of my appetite for the rest of the week
I like how they start eating like nothing happened 😂😂😂
Right! All covered in dust. The food dusty as hell. They keep on chewing!!!
Are those people there yet!? I think they're in the core of the earth..errr hell probably!?
This is brilliant!!!
A blood glutinous masterpiece of mayhem , greed and debauchery. Bravo
Une belle réalisation française, ça fait plaisir !
Different. Very different. But, that's usually the way with some foreign films. I also find that some of them involve a lot of eating of food. This was darkly humorous, but, also entertaining. I enjoyed it, in an odd way.
As the guy stares at me...
Me slowly putting down my cinnamon buns...
THE FOOD THEY EAT: The planet or the resources.
THOSE PEOPLE ON TABLE : humans who are racing to consume the resources, not thinking about future.
THE GIRL WHO EAT AT LAST: some people that knows the condition but can't resist and fall into the sin to survive. (she cry while eating because to survive she have to eat even if she don't want to and she can't change the world alone).
THE SICK PERSON: Powerless people who can't even take their shares but their shares were taken by other humans.
THE TABLE: The planet, the more we destroy the more it falls rapidly.
THE WAITERS : they are the nature which try there best to replenish the resources but can't help because the destruction by humans are very fast. At last he smile because humans got what they deserve and he don't like humans anymore.
At the end of the film the guy (nature) is watching at you as a warning.
It's so meaningfull film. Thanks a lot for your explained
This is not short movie!! This is detail explanation of world powerful peoples in short!!
Fantastic!!!!!!
I guess plaster makes everything taste better.
Oh that's so funny😂😂lol
Straight to the underworld .
This was so well shot. I’m amazed
We humans are devouring this world, and everything in it. And one day it will be are downfall, if we don't learn to be more responsible. That's what I get from this film.
When they started to break down floor to floor
My mind:👁️👄👁️ 🤭🤭🤭🤭😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Imagine how much this crew is getting paid
Superb acting on everyone's part. This is a dark representation of the over abundance and entitled nature of people in today's society. Well done!!
All I could do is keep picturing John cleese coming out and saying "IT'S ONLY WAFER THIN!!" Then feeding it to the guy saying" BON APPETIT & bones out running!!! 🗯️" BOOM" 🗯️🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤣😂🤣😂
This is what my family reunion looks like LMAOOO. They're like my mf cousins and uncles eating eveything like an animal. And i'm just like: CAN I GET A SALAD? 💀💀💀
You freaking genius!
Darn, corporate greed. Poor servers, they just kept serving. Anyways, great film. I enjoyed watching.❤
Some chef had fun creating these gnarly looking dishes 🤢🤮😂✌️
I think this was a show of how the stripping and killing of this planet would be ultimately lead to its destruction through the greed of the human race... Loved it ty
Human is not a race, it's a species. By your comment, it's very true that the school system has definitely dumbed us down.

It is difficult not wanting to gag whilst watching a parody of gluttony running rampant! This is a true horror!

My Mom: Don't watch UA-cam videos while eating
Me: Still watches UA-cam videos while eating
Then the eating scene comes
Me: I wish I have listened to my mom
Welll....
That was creepy 😲😲
Screamfest never fails🔥🔥💥✨🖤
What would have been a great ending if the man in charge and all the workers, We then go down to the last floor we're all the people were injured and they would clean them up ,cook them and then they would eat them. That would be some sort of justice .
FUCKING brilliant!! I want to know what the writers thoughts were when making this film
I like to think that they're trapped in this building, and the only way out is to literally *eat their way* out my collapsing the floors. That's why everyone gets excited each time they reach the next floor - they're that much closer
Thanks for the video! In the end we will all be memories...
Can't help mY self loughing each time that floor kept collapsing.. Haha
You know, this could also be interpreted as the government providing for the bread and circuses for the masses......and the masses continuing to consume such provision upon their own lusts.....leading only to their ultimate demise.....one step (or floor)
at at time.
oooo that last shot. perfection
Enough to turn me into a vegetarian! O.o
This is a horrifying, totally BRILLIANT film, about the Eternal Hell, of Unbridled Guttony. Thanks.
TAKE HEED: Vegetarians or Vegans avoid watching.

Dang! Im finished this short film around 2:30am, and it made me crave for a restaurant buffet.. Hehe nice one.
Surprised that they did not include humans on their menu.
Thank you Screamfest Always AWSOME ! That was one of a Kind

Haha yeah😄
I think this was about addiction , while you're indulging your addiction you feel amazing all the while you're plummeting to your death but you cannot stop and there are people feeding your problem no matter how far down you go.
