- Four officials in the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure have been suspended in the wake of a R300 million cyber-theft investigation within the department.
In a statement, the department says in the latest episode, a further R24 million was stolen in May, which prompted a full forensic investigation by the Hawks, the SAPS, State security and experts in the ICT and cyber security industry.
Speaking on other matters, newly appointed Minister, Dean Macpherson provided a glimpse of what can be expected from the department over the next five years.

I fear the day we made the law for all but allow the president and his cronies to break the same law that was meant for all of us. If we make exception for the president then why must others follow it? We broke what held us together and if one of us break it it’s hard to make it work for everyone.
