I think your Chinese Guide is not smart and experienced.
I watched videos of another group who are also traveling to London, they are happy and have not faced any problem and security issues. They also crossed china through Khargosh boarder.
Their guide is very smart and efficient and tackle everything.

Sir ji apse pehle 7 cars aur 4 bikes crossed border and even they were stopped at various places in china and everywhere their guide was interacting with police
Woh log din bhar sadken naapte hain...aur shaam ya raat hote-hote kisi hotel pahunch jate hain...subah ek, dedh ya 2-2 ghante late hotel se nikalte hain aur sham ya raat tak next hotel pahunchne ke liye sadken napte rahte hain....udhar yahii chal raha hai...
Delhi ke ek traveller jo land cruiser se aaya hua tha..Vikas Dayal..un ke father ki death hone se woh gadi Kazakhastan me chor kar Delhi chale gaye hain.
Hamare TTT ( #TheTurbanTraveller ) wale Veerjee gadi chalate waqt aas-paas ke pahadon, jheelon, jheel ke rangon, ice-capped mountains and their different colors, green meadows, sand dunes wagairah par aise baten karte chalte hain, aur unka camera zooming work itna shandar hota hai ki lagta hai ki woh apne aaspaas ki cheezon ke baare me bata hee naheen rahe, balki un se baaten kar rahe hain, nature ki khoobsoorti ki tareef aise karte hain jaise woh nature ya qudrat ki khoobsoorti par koi geet na nazm gunguna rahe hon....shayri kar rahe hon... Maine unke last teen char episode dekhe hain, aur baqi saare episodes sunday 15th Sept ko dekhoonga..He is an awesome gentleman. Malik un par aur unke sathiyon par apni mehar banaye raakhe!!! Aameen !!

There is a network of cameras spread across China. They keep an eye on your every activity. Photography or videography of army, government institutions or government employees of any country should not be done. You make mistakes due to carelessness, but you cannot escape their cameras.
