  • I have spent 1 wonderful year and a half in Galway, Ireland, training in anesthesia and ICU. I am really grateful for Prof. Pat Nelligan and Ann Gatley having accepted my invitation for this interview. I have learned a lot during my time there and it wouldn't have been possible without the help of these people.
I have worked as an anesthetic and ICU trainee in 2 different medical systems so far: the Romanian and the Irish. Firstly, what impressed me the most, in the Irish one, was having 1 on 1 care (one nurse for each patient in the ICU), which made things easier for everyone and increased the quality of care dramatically. Secondly, we had DNAR (Do Not Attempt Resuscitation) in place for certain patients that met the criteria, end of life care and palliative care. We do not have this in the Romanian medical system.
In this video we cover everything from end of life care, how decisions are made by consultants (experienced ICU doctors), DNARs and palliative care. We get insights from what people that regularly work in these environments think, and above all, feel.
Thanks for taking your time to watch this video! All the best.
