- Messing about with an old Bacharach & David tune: The Look of Love
Nothing to do with Cosmosis - but what the heck... :)
A bit of a struggle to play chords on that little toy keyboard! But it's all I have to hand right now.
I'm currently exploring how to create music with more space. I've identified it as a particular weakness in my own music composition - I feel compelled to fill every semi-quaver of every bar with sound for some reason.
I suppose it's not surprising really given I've spent the last quarter of a century producing high energy, high tempo dance records. Anyway, I'm learning to dial it right back and allow sounds to breathe and occupy their own space unimpeded...
The tune is the classic The Look of Love (Bacharach & David) I lifted Dusty's melodic phrasing from her superb 1967 Dusty Springfield version.

Tasty! You need dusty Springfield on your boat
Cosmosis ? More like osmosis. This seeped into every pore. So good.
:) Pleased you enjoyed it!
@@BillyCosmosis This made me think. Cosmic Osmosis??? Anyway, Billy, you've heared this a million times I'm sure, but why the name Cosmosis?
@@andrewbates8076 Cosmosis = osmotically becoming cosmic. The dissolving of the subject/object relationship into oneness, being absorbed back into the universe as opposed to being apart from it.
Is that Dusty Springfield?!I LOVE all your music,You are the Best :)!
Yep, Dusty Springfield sang on the original
wow haha
You the best brother...god bless you 🙏
Thanks!
My daughter said its wonderful...She's 3 year's old...thanks brother for that 🙏meeting in Goa 😂
Your daughter obviously has good taste :)
❤✌
:)
Smooth Billy.
Cheers Based !
I’ve listened to your Goa albums a lot, now considering saving for a guitar, to start learning. :P.
Haha! It's never a bad idea to learn to play a musical instrument.
Whilst I certainly won't argue with Billy's opinion here , I would say best to get a DAW and write some Goa first, before trying to add guitar, especially as a beginner. That said, learning guitar is it's own reward anyway. But, learn to walk before you run.
P.S. My apologies if you already produce Goa, I just presumed you didn't.
It has only just dawned on me that you sir, are quite culpable for my lack of results when I was in university. If you had not released such great music, I probably would have taken less acid and concentrated more on my physics lectures. That would mean I would likely have solved cold fusion by now... Therefore, It is without doubt, your fault that humanity is suffering an energy crisis leading to global climate change... Sleep well tonight.
Oh, and keep up the cool tunes :)
Clearly I've been a malign influence :)
That was so smooth I slipped right past Thursday into Friday, sweet.✌️👍❤️
haha!
Thanks Billy for being a part of my life, your music has inspired me stince the begining. From a fellow psy producer, never change :) All the best
You're most welcome mate!
Burt & Hal who? - loved it, COVID blues killer.
Ha! You know it! Burt &Hal = legends 👍
Bacharach stuff is surprisingly tricky to play at all - never mind improv with feel. Kudos!
Thank you :)
Some Hammond organ rising and falling, weaving in and around, I'd love to hear that. Sweet work champ.
Thanks 😊
Thanks, man! Good stuff, good vibes, very relaxing...
You're most welcome!

Yeah all is good 👍 and you're very welcome!
@@BillyCosmosis could you do a video about living on a longboat? Maintenance etc because the whole idea to me is very intriguing
dude, you look just like the president in space balls movie :-D
I'm sure that's funny. I'll look out for him if I ever watch the movie
@@BillyCosmosis Yep, appreciate your music, was not meant as an insult (just to underline) :-)
@@jarkkojs No insult or offence taken!
@@BillyCosmosis good, phew :-)
Hello again! Now I have a guitar and learning... :P. May I ask if you use same DAW for recording guitar and Psytrance production? If not, which DAW's do you use for each purposes?
Thanks
Same one. DAW's are just recording tools. The music style makes zero difference. I'm familiar with both Cubase or Ableton so I use either one. I tend to use Ableton more these days.
Mylogify: My tip for learning guitar: If you haven't got one, (1) get a guitar stand. (2) Figure out where you sit at home most of the time (sofa, computer chair etc) and put the guitar on a stand *within arm's reach* . Never store a guitar in it's case. Guitars are for playing, cases are for transporting or storing guitars - if you put in it's case you'll never play it! Make a habit of picking it up and playing it *everyday* even if it's only for 15 mins to work on your chord changes or whatever. Put it *down* when you've had enough! Guitar stands are cheap. For example this is a good one: www.thomann.de/gb/millenium_gs2001e.htm (if you got an acoustic get the acoustic version of the stand) Keep at it! Good luck
@@BillyCosmosis Thank you a lot! I've got the exact same style of stand, just different brand :). It's so fun! I am also using Yousician app. it also has been very helpful.
@@mylogify You're welcome!
Great taste mate; try the guitar chords, you'll love 'em!
Thank you! Yes, I can play the chords on guitar, it was figuring out the voicings on the keyboard that was the problem!
What key and scale are you playing?Sounds so good!
Thanks! It's in Dmin. It is actually quite tricky because the tempo is slow and there's one or two surprise out of key chords that linger (particularly the Bbmin6) which can catch you out! So I'm mainly changing arpeggios/pentatonics with the chord changes trying to keep it melodic by keeping to the chord tones. If it was a faster tempo and the chords changed quicker, I would just be able to get away with rocking Dmin penta/blues right through except for making a special feature (using chord tones) for that 2 bars of Bbmin6
@@BillyCosmosis Thank you!The out key stuff is what I like, gave it a jazz feel and I love that stuff!Love your guitar playing!Your jams remind me of some Pink Floyd and the Orb album that came out 10 years ago and you don't find much of that.I have heard your Goa stuff I love it but damn you can play a guitar! Thanks again!
You got your songs on band camp?
@@MyBichSustained :) Bandcamp yes but oddly enough not much with guitar - except for maybe this album: A melange of trippy chill, psy with guitar: cosmosis.bandcamp.com/album/ibiza-jams
@MySixStringBichSustain And this: soundcloud.com/cosmosis-official/sets/alien-jams-ajja-cosmosis which I made with Ajja - another producer/guitarist in a similar kind of style mash
@@BillyCosmosis Hell yea!Thank You!
🔥Amazing set Billy! Have you heard of Sessions? I think you will kill it there!
