One of the most magnificient , magical ,rejuvenating ,evergreen pieces of music ever .....coming from the genius mind of a divinely gifted artist ...quintessentially capturing the whole spectrum of the most humane emotions and encompassing them in this immersive art to youthfully eternalize the human soul .....forever:)
Woah woah woah. It's a good song, but, most magnificent and evergreen pieces of music ever? I mean, I just slow down there. Pull up on those reins a bit.
Growing up in Illinois (and even a city he dedicated a song too shout out Prairie Fire That Wanders About), Sufjan looks like that midwestern uncle who only shows up to holidays every other year because he’s usually busy deer and/or duck hunting. But then he starts singing and you’re like 🥺🥺 you’re not a midwestern uncle who hunts every weekend and drinks bud light by the case you’re the love of my life (aside from my husband of course)
Saw Sufjan at Boston Calling a few years ago… this song and his set was stunning. Never heard him before that - it made the show and I’m since a huge fan.
though i do love the powerful chorus of the original song, i think i love this version much better. it’s so peaceful, steven’s strumming is so calm and beautiful, and the woman’s vocals reminds me of the strings from Bittersweet Symphony
The respect of the audience always stands out at a Sufjan concert in the silence while he plays and speaks. It’s beautiful.
It's one like to sufjan and always one like for the audience.
People don’t do that anymore. I’m so glad you pointed that out. Like they’re just musicians. We need to wait for them to make magic.
i was there man. that "true story" bit will stay with me forever
"Prince is God, right? There's purple lights in heaven." Beautiful.
Prince is god! Sufjan is close behind, still so far, but close
Purple rain came from the 1970’s song Ventura Highway
How is his voice the voice of an angel even when he has a cold. So blessed to have heard him in this life
I fell in love again
All things go, all things go
Drove to Chicago
All things know, all things know
We sold our clothes to the state
I don't mind, I don't mind
I made a lot of mistakes
In my mind, in my mind
You came to take us
All things go, all things go
To recreate us
All things grow, all things grow
We had our mindset
All things know, all things know
You had to find it
All things go, all things go
I drove to New York
In a van, with my friend
We slept in parking lots
I don't mind, I don't mind
I was in love with the place
In my mind, in my mind
I made a lot of mistakes
In my mind, in my mind
You came to take us
All things go, all things go
To recreate us
All things grow, all things grow
We had our mindset
All things know, all things know
You had to find it
All things go, all things go
If I was crying
In the van, with my friend
It was for freedom
From myself and from the land
I made a lot of mistakes
I made a lot of mistakes
I made a lot of mistakes
I made a lot of mistakes
You came to take us
All things go, all things go
To recreate us
All things grow, all things grow
We had our mindset
All things know, all things know
You had to find it
All things go, all things go
You came to take us
All things go, all things go
To recreate us
All things grow, all things grow
We had our mindset (I made a lot of mistakes)
All things know, all things know (I made a lot of mistakes)
You had to find it (I made a lot of mistakes)
All things go, all things go (I made a lot of mistakes
This is clearly an angel come to earth, pay close attention to him, he is shockingly and uncannily beautiful and musically gifted
The second he started playing I died, true story
Rest is peace
@@iidevilsspawnii6506 rest is indeed peace
Cavailer!
I caught you, true story

I agree ardit. Perennial even!
I love this song too but you’re kind of meatriding right now

That guitar breakdown is heavenly. This is freaking devine.
Sufjan talking: deep-voiced stand-up comic
Sufjan singing: WE ARE NOT WORTHY
Saw Sufjan at Boston Calling a few years ago… this song and his set was stunning. Never heard him before that - it made the show and I’m since a huge fan.
God damn it, there's just not a bad version of this. Genius
He is so handsome, and his voice oh my godness im melting, I'M IN HEAVEN
Only got invested in his music 2 years ago, a shame I wasn't able to see him in Manchester, who knows if he'll tour again :(
He has such a gentle speaking voice, too. I loved this so much.
How could anyone not love this man?
I fell in love with Sufjan Stevens!
Me too..
Absolutely beautiful. I love this stripped down version. It just flows through me like a sweet memory. Truly special.
excellent
2:32 what the hell how did he even go back to his angelic voice lol

What's this?

Oh, thanks.
beautiful beautiful beautiful
His music reminds me of fallen rose petals ... ephemeral .. haunting .. sweet . Fragile and exposed
just a perfect version of a truly great song of a brilliant album
Still, after almost 2 decades,I have not seen such art live. All I want in my life, music wise,is to Sufjan live.
Such a beautiful song.
MCR: One Love
What a beautiful version
such a beautiful version of this song. I feel like this might be the version you'd hear if it was released on carrie and Lowell. phenomenal
though i do love the powerful chorus of the original song, i think i love this version much better. it’s so peaceful, steven’s strumming is so calm and beautiful, and the woman’s vocals reminds me of the strings from Bittersweet Symphony
I have only just come across him. How wonderful! Paul Simon echoes for sure. Special.
I love watching him sing...beautiful
This is very precious I cried ..

Oh the Lady made the song more beautiful with her harmony
Beautiful ❤️
He reminds me so much of Paul Simon
I heard that, too. Pass the torch.

Sufjan why are you so beautiful... in every f*%#ing way. 😭
Heard a cover of this by The Staves... That was beautiful... This is hauntingly so.
Dat boy good!
Keep the dream alive.
0:15 This was filmed a few months before Prince died. Pretty prescient of him.
Prince died April 2016, so this was a bit more than a few months before he passed.
Thanks for posting this
Thanks for sharing this

Sufjan does acoustic Chameleons. Perfect.
Whos here after watching The Politician
Knew him way before The Politician. I'm glad he's getting exposure! He deserves all the love.
:/
nymersic Exactly
you.
Kai Chiba exactly. I loved him since 2006 from hearing Chicago on Little Miss Sunshine. So glad he’s getting the recognition he deserves
This song should get re recorded.. acoustic only.
There are acoustic versions of this song released on Sufjan's album "The Avalanche"'. Check it out.
The fucking slide guitar man
Is this how Ángels sing?
oh my college years
Shout out to Robert Sapolsky on the organ back there. You'll either get that or you won't.
Explain.
@michaelgreene4816 there's a neurobiologist called Robert Sapolsky, great guy, and he looks like him.
