Once Upon a Time Wonderland was originally written as a short season to fill in between the fall and spring runs on the original because it did poorly in reruns, but the network liked the show and made them extend it to a full season at the last minute so they rushed to add more scripts and drag out the story. It would have been good if they had left it as originally intended.

Here I have to defend one - Once Upon A Time In Wonderland. It was cut short, it was weird, the graphics were so odd, and it was strange; but I loved it. I actually stopped watching the regular Once Upon A Time by that point and when that came out I watched it with heavy skepticism at first, then gave first ep a rewatch and was hooked. Giving it a thorough watch again now, I am sure it still is interesting enough - to me anyway.

Seriously, the show suffered an identity crises. After failing as a Cali-Magnum PI show, it then attempted to go the X Files route. The problem was that it again could not decide how it wanted to proceed. At times it wanted to be sarcastically "tongue in cheek" like an old show my parents watched called "The Nightstalker". It then would switch atmosphere to try to go for the dark, foreboding, X Files, Millennium aesthetic. In addition, Hasselhoff is not the most believable actor to carry a dramatic show.

So he pitched a show called 'Santa Monica NIghts' with him and Gregalan Alan Williams as private eyes with a lethal weapon style dynamic. But what emerged from that was Baywatch nights. When Mr. T and Tina was cancelled mid-season, Morita reprised the Arnold character later that same season. But not on Happy Days but on a spin-off called Blansky's Beauties.
