As we already saw Tony's video on your snafu, it was just as funny seeing your version. Makes us feel better that four seasoned travellers, two being travel agents, can still screw up.
Funny, and I believe we all knew better, but we couldn’t find any wording from the tour that was specific about what happens if the ship changes schedules. Now we know!! :P
the hilarious thing about the missed bus is that the four of you are REALLY seasoned travelers when it comes to cruise ship arrivals and excursions. I'm loving this series! as usual.
Funny, and I believe we all knew better, but we couldn’t find any wording from the tour that was specific about what happens if the ship changes schedules. Now we know!! :P
@@parodeejay
Was there no way to call the excursion to verify the time?
@cruisegal4991 We don’t carry international calling and data, but we were activating international day passes along the way, which would have given us that option, I’m sure.
Tall Jay getting through the castle...made me crack up😂😅
Make sure next time you explore the gardens and see the Blarney house. My friends great grandfather helped build the steeple on that church in Cobh. Ireland is a feast for the eyes.
Oh wow, that’s awesome! We would definitely skip the stone and explore the grounds next time, though we’re glad we tackled that climb!! :P
When Jay was ducking under the doorway he sounded a little like Marcel The Shell With Shoes On.😂
😂😂😂murder hole...no thank you. We laughed so hard. You two are truly so fun. One day, we hope to sail with you both. 😊 loved the tour and all you share. Thank you❤
The cab ride had me cracking up.
Fun to see you retrace my steps from my 2015 cruise. Brought back such good memories. Loved beautiful, green Ireland.
Ireland was awesome! We loved getting our and seeing some rolling green hills!! :D
I love that you avoid Starbucks and support the little guys for your coffee. Great video as always
Thank you always for working so hard on your vlogs. You two are amazing. So informative and detailed. ❤
So glad that you were able to catch up with your bus. Tony's version was interesting too.🤣 I wouldn't want to do the castle stairs, but would love exploring the grounds. Loved this video and how you captured so much at your stops. 👍💚
Our timing worked out really well despite the morning mishaps, ha ha… oops!! :P
My daughter just got back from a 10 day trip to the UK with her English class. I can't TELL you how excited she is with this current series. From London to her FAVE city Cobh! She's so excited to see the same things you saw....except she didn't see Blarney Castle.
Love how you number the videos. Great job with the vids. Keep it up!
I have been waiting for this review as we are soon to be on that cruise. Thank you for sharing. :)
Ireland was my 2nd home for many years and has lots of fond memories from your travel videos. we used train/bus many times to various places with coach tours in between. looking forward to your british isles cruise based tours.
regards, englishman now living in Canada.
Good morning. This was so fun. I have kissed the Blarney Stone, it was many year's ago. It was not easy getting up those stairs. When I went there we were visiting family. So no real line's to get up. Did it once, no need to do it again. 😅 However the views from up top are amazing on a clear, sunny day. Thank you for all the memories.
That’s awesome! The line is what sucked up most of our time, and if we’d been fifteen minutes later, we would have never pulled it off. Wow!! :D
Great to see you in my country!!!.
Amazing guys! This was so special! Those sunglasses Jay😂😂😂.
Those sites were awesome guys! I’m so ready to go now! Can’t wait for the next episode ❤❤
Enjoyed following your adventure! The climb to kiss the stone was hilarious. We couldn't make it up there. We used Paddywagon tours when we were in Ireland a few years ago- from Dublin to the cliffs of moher including a stop in Galway and some other places. They were great !Our tour guide gave us so much information and told great stories. Following the arrows game you played brought you to some interesting places!
Paddywagon is the best! My clients love them in Ireland. Yes, you can set your base in Dublin or Cork and take the train to Cobh and other places in Ireland. You can also stay in Dublin and self-drive the country.
We went on a similar cruise and loved Kinsale! It was so colorful. We didn’t go to the Blarney Stone, so it was nice to see your experience.
As a 6'6" guy, that taxi must have felt like a clown car.
Having been on Royal, Regal and for the last 2 weeks I can relate to your feedback on Princess Live. Assuming why they made the changes to that Venue design that you experienced on Sky, Enchanted and Discovery. But all of our favorite evening activities get scheduled there. So for our recent 2-week Majestic cruise (6/24-7/8) we enjoyed the sofas right outside Princess Live which you can hear and see the screens pretty well. Plus we made friends with the bartenders there and had great service and played along with the activities for our own enjoyment without actually being in the venue itself.
Those crowds are INSANE!!! We went to Blarney Castle before Covid, and got there shortly before closing. There were zero crowds anywhere; just a straight shot up to the top. We had no desire to kiss the stone, but I think there were maybe two people in that line.
Happy to watch your Blarney Stone adventure. We can no longer climb those stairs and st 6'6 I can identify with your climb in short places. Enjoyingyour trip
That was a squeeeeeeze, I tell ya!! :P ~Jay
I really enjoyed Ireland but I cannot believe that you both missed the tour bus that too 😂 funny.
Funny, and I believe we all knew better, but we couldn’t find any wording from the tour company that was specific about what happens if the ship changes schedules. Now we know!! :P
You have completely cured me of any desire to kiss that stone! LOL
Thank you Dee & Jay fantabulous video enjoyed the trip lived in Cork fir 10 years but never visited Blarney castle which is just as well given the stairs and low ceilings I must say the menu on Princess looks pretty good apart from the Irish stew or should that read Irish soup. 😉
I laughed so hard as you were going up the steps of the Barney stone lol but it was good you had odne it because no way I sit that one out.
Once you do those stairs you’ll never forget! Thanks for the memories! Unfortunately you did not have time to go to the Blarney Woolen Mills. I’m not a big shopper but the textiles are gorgeous.
We definitely would have loved another hour at the Blarney property and surrounding area!! :D
Great job! You really hung in there at the Blarney Castle. I’ve been there, but don’t remember the stairs or passages being that narrow. I’ve probably just blocked that from my memory! 😂
What a riot you narrating the trip up and down the stairs. We were just there last week on an island bus tour. By the way, you looked a little squished in the cab, good training for the stairs.
Wanted to say something clever re your Latin slogan, but instead THANK YOU for giving the young man who went overboard some compassion and dignity in your coverage of his tragedy. Of all the “overboard” stories, I can’t recall anyone else who used the moment to encourage people suffering a crisis to ask for help. 😢
I don't know that this comment applies to our video or our channel, as we don't deal in news and haven't made any sort of content similar to what you mentioned.
We were on a cruise a number of years ago and it was just as crowded. My husband was able to.
That’s awesome! If we had been fifteen minutes later, we probably wouldn’t have made it to the top. That was fun though!! :P
So sorry that happened, but you worked it out!
Wow!! I had a slight panic attack just watching you guys! I will NOT be climbing to the top when we visit!! 😂
I remember those stairs they were not for the faint of heart !
That is quite the adventure; I`m with you Jay, no 100 plus steps and leaning backwards over the side of the castle for me! I`ll sit in the pub having a Guinness, thanks! As for the `Irish stew`....when I saw the shot of it I was shocked, as my Mother would say "that hasn`t seen the sun that shines on irish stew!!😂😂
Heck yeah, ha ha… and yes, that poor “stew” was a bit sad!! :P ~Jay
Penny’s is the original name and Dublin is the original location of the shop and due to JCpennys wanting to expand at the time they changed it outside of Ireland! 😊
Oh wow, that’s funny to see the story of the two different names. Gotcha!! :D
So fun to watch. Lol
Are you telling me Jay, you stood in line all that time and did not kiss the Blarney Stone?
Heck yeah! I was just there for moral support, ha ha… glad for the experience though!! :P ~Jay
Good call Jay. You do not need more of the gift of gab. In fact, the stone should kiss you. Ha ha😊
We’ve gotten a smattering of “Ireland is not part of the British Isles” comments, so I had to look it up. Color me surprised to find that Ireland IS considered to be part of the British Isles! It’s not part of Great Britain or the United Kingdom obviously, but British Isles confirmed!! :P ~Jay
www.britannica.com/place/British-Isles#:~:text=British%20Isles%2C%20group%20of%20islands,and%20the%20Isle%20of%20Man.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Isles
You’re correct from an (antiquated) geographical perspective, that’s true. 🇮🇪
Our frustration comes from the general lack of awareness in America that Ireland is NOT part of Britain. We are a former colony (like the eastern US) but fought for much longer for our freedom (800+ years) and it was gained in living memory (just over 100 years ago). So we get a little bit defensive about it and are one of the proudest nations in the world (especially in UA-cam comments 😂😂).
Hope you had a great day and please come back to the Emerald isle!!!! ☘️ We love your videos and that tiny spiral staircase footage was gold!! 😂😂
Yeeeah, everyone who tries to just lump Ireland in with the United Kingdom, Great Britain, or just “Britain” in general… or not realizing that Northern Ireland is something different… meh… that’s gotta be frustrating. We can’t wait to get back and explore some more!! :P
@@parodeejay Thanks for understanding. ☺️
Please do!! Donegal, Galway and Killarney are calling your name!
@@parodeejay Geography is not the storng point of most of my fellow Americans.
We were on a private tour while there and we also felt like we needed more time at the main attractions and less time with fillers/bus time.
Cork is my home town and I am soooo happy ye enjoyed your visit! And the weather was amazing for ye which makes it even better!!! I have to talk about THAT stew though 😮 That is Not what an Irish stew is supposed to be, the broth should be soupy not watery 😊
❤ we are in Cork for 2 days in September
Love it!!! Great video! Dee, what kind of sneakers you wearing, are they comfy for walking??? Great weather too!
Merrells! We’ve had them foreeeeever and they’ve always treated us well!! :D
I did it and it was no easy feat, I have the pics to prove it lol. Colin said no way 😂
That was a tough climb, even without having big feet and whatnot I’d imagine, ha ha!! :P #arduous
One of my good friends is from Ireland, I REALLY want to go.
I took the train in Cobh to Cork last summer. It was a very reasonable 7 pounds r/t. 😊
Very nice! We did some nice train options in some of the ports, but we really wanted to be sure to hit Blarney on this first visit. The train sounds like something we’d definitely do next time though!! :D
@@parodeejay I went to Blarney in 2007 and was kind of grossed out by the unsanitary process. What did I expect? LOL I thought the British Isles cruise I did last August was a "one and done" but I really want to go back, even if it's the same ports.
NOOOO! 😂 when I was in Ireland I was told do not kiss the Blarney Stone!!! The locals said they sneak up there at night and they pee on it!!!!!
We’ve heard that’s an urban legend, hah. Supposedly the castle crew sanitizes it every day, multiple times, but ya never know!! :P
I was on the Regal the cruise right before yours. We found the food “less than”. Very bland. Very definitely the worst food of any cruise I’ve been on. Not up to Princess’s normal standard.
And that is why we believe in ship excursions. I know, “to each his own.”
For us, it wasn’t ship tour versus independent. The issue was that we couldn’t find any wording from the tour company that was specific about what happens if the ship changes schedules. If our ship tour had the same instructions about meeting at a certain time with no other instructions, we would have missed it too!! :P
FYI, There are 2 men at the Blarney Stone area to help you position yourself so you can try to kiss the stone.
They do spray and wipe the stone with alcohol after each person. I was not able to kiss the stone because I was unable to lean back far enough, but I did it far enough for them to snap my picture.
Be prepared to leave a pound or two for the men as a tip.
Also, if you are more than 250 pounds you may not fit through some of the passage ways on your way up to the roof top area.
Stairs are steep, and slippery. Make sure you grab the rope as a stair rail.
Jay you needed not kiss the stone cause you already have the gift of gab
We are going on a British Isles cruise in a month on the Carnival Pride, and was curious how the passport situation worked. They are suppose to collect all the Passports but they said they would not be available until noon the day of our first port in Ireland. I would love to know how that was handled for you guys.
We discuss it over the course of this series. If memory serves, they collected them from us pretty much as soon as we boarded the ship, and we got them back as soon as we left our last Ireland port.
@parodeejay Thank you, I was thinking we needed the passport in hand since Ireland seemed to be insistent we had the stamp. I assumed we might need to have it on our person while in country.
What about Bermuda in the Carribbean is that the last one in the British Isles
Never considered Bermuda, ha ha… but we went there on a completely separate ship that wasn’t part of our “British Isles” loop!! :P
Love the videos! Did you ever use cash (euros) or just credit card while in Ireland and the UK? Im going on a British Isles trip In may 24. Just curious.
Also how much was the taxi?
We used mostly credit card, but did withdraw some cash from a London ATM for tipping, etc. That taxi ride was about $60 USD plus tip, which we split four ways, so still a costly lesson!! :P
“It’s a boy” didn’t make the cut, booooo 😂
I know! I really thought the camera was on one of the two times I made that joke during the climb, ha ha... :P ~Jay
You are very kind in your restaurant reviews. The dinner, except the dessert, didn’t look too appealing! A rare dud?
You haven't reserved dinner time each day on the app?
No, just forgot this time around, but we found that the dining room midship on deck 5 was hardly ever busy!! :D
Great video. Did you have a contact number for excursion company to confirm departure time? 😮
I already replied to your other comment, but I’ll put it here too since you’d asked again!! :P
“We don’t carry international calling and data, but we were activating international day passes along the way, which would have given us that option, I’m sure.”
@parodeejay
In that case, obviously none of the four of you thought to confirm time. Sorry it happened to you but sometimes these events can make the most memorable memories. Your adventures are always awesome, hiccups and all. Thank you so much for your content. You two are incredible to watch. 👍😀
BUT WHAT WAS THE SECRET MESSAGE!?
All we got was HAPPYS. Quite the unfulfilling ending, ha ha!! :P
sounds like two reviews over each other
my bad had another of your videos playing in the background sorry
Did this happen to you before or was it somebody else because I know I just saw this happened to someone on a vlog?
If you watched Tony or Don's content, I believe they already covered the "missing the bus" story, as we were together on this tour!! :D
Tony...I'm glad I'm not losing my mind! 😂
Have you ever been in jeopardy of getting back late from a privately booked excursion? I feel like you've had a lot of good luck.
Do the local Irish mind that they are part of the BRITISH isles tour?
We’d have to ask France the same thing, as we ended the cruise with Le Havre, ha ha… but I doubt they mind the tourism income!! :P
EDIT to add: Apparently Ireland is part of the British Isles. Color us surprised!!
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Isles
Nothing that us and France can do about it haha
Hi guys, might be worth reading all of the Wikipedia article about the British Isles and Ireland
First
Whoop whoop!! :D
Pity you didn't spend the day in Cobh
That’s on the plan for next time!! :P
Ireland is not part of British Isles
Surprisingly, according to Wikipedia, it is! Not Great Britain obviously, but British Isles!!
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Isles
my bad
That is the worst looking Irish ‘stew’ I have ever seen.
It was not great, ha ha… would not order again!! :P
