This is the best summation of the 500e on you tube. The only thing I would add is how pissed people get when you kick the crap out of them at a light because they are insulted by the fact that they were beaten by a Fiat. I put 17X7 light Sparcos with Michelin Pilot Sports and the car handles like a beast. Biggest critique is range.
Same! I’m saving $500 in gas a month from driving my Fiat 500e over my full size truck for the last 4 years. It’s so reliable and hasn’t had anything replaced except tires. So damn practical!
I purchased a '16 with a sunroof. I resent my trip odometer every day on my Accord and realized I could let it go. Drove 60 miles a day to work and few miles afterward. Worked for me in the winter here in Chicago. I charge with 120v at my condo parking space and electric is included in my assessment..Best Car Ever!
Mine was $8K in 2018, the price has gone up from that, in S. California. Freeway range is more like 50-55 mi. I agree hills really eat energy & you don't recover much on the downhill. Custom wheels cut your range. I wouldn't lower it, the front lip scrapes at stock height. It can fit an 8-ft board. The trunk organizer that holds the charger can be removed, 4 bolts, gives you more cargo space.
Our first EV car. It's a great car, looks great, fun to drive. It's good for taking kids to/from schools, grocery shopping/errands. We finally let it go a few weeks ago as it was a lease. Unfortunately this model is no longer available here. The 2022 model looks even better imo, with a lot more range and features. Would have bought one if they brought them here.

I have no idea why the dealership down here was selling them so cheaply, but it has been an amazing car and a wonderful bargain. I can’t recommend them enough if they can still be picked up for these super cheap prices.

Hey! I recently reviewed the 2022 Fiat 500e in my channel! I must say that whilst its true EVs are mainly for the city, its also a question of price! A brand new Fiat 500e is like 30k here in Belgium, which is too much if you compare to models competing in that price (like a VW Golf)! But amazing video! I am surprised you have a taste for the Fiat 500e! I always thought in North America is was all about massive engines, cruising and innovative techs! Greetings from Belgium!
Great Review! Just bought one in Portugal imported from the US and it has been amazing! I just subbed the taillights to the newer 500 and abarth wheels. Which lowering springs did you install?
Considering one of these for a city commuter. Prices now are up, found a 2015 with 34k miles for $11.5k, and that seems to be the best 'deal'. At what point do these become not as great a deal considering our current situation across the country?
Hey Ryan, the point for me is around $8k where it isn't worth it because of alternative budget gas options. It is annoying that the price went up on these cars.
You're right. It's more for city and commuting that the EV cars come into their own. No need for all the unnecessary power and such. When they sort out battery range etc then longer traveling will be great. But at the moment city driving is the main use of the EV.
Nice review! Today I bought my 500e 2018 here in the Netherlands. I really like the car. The car is pretty ‘high’, how did you lowered it and how many mm? Cheers
I too would like to know how to lower it. I wonder if the Abarth gas model has sportier springs/coilovers that can be installed. I want to buy a 500e and add Abarth parts for some different styling
@@goostador look at some forums to get some ideas. From what I’ve read abarth suspension is not good for the 500e due to the weight. Doesn’t ride good from what I read
Question- I have a friend who lives 92 miles away from me. So I would get 90% of the way to her house and then have to stop and charge my car for two hours when I’m 15 minutes away??😭
92 Miles is pretty far. The 500e could easily do 92 miles… at 35 to 50mph but not at highway speeds. The 500e is not the right choice if you need to drive that far regularly. For an occasional thing the extra hour of charging is no big deal
You should be able to find a newer 500e with options. I picked up a 2017/ 26k miles, sunroof, tint etc. for 7100 plus tax and license in Anaheim late last year. I looked around and the best models were the ones coming off dealer leases after 3 years. They'll also deal with you since they have so many to get rid of with expired reg.
I’m building a new home myself, and the commute is 39 miles from my current house. It’s all highway, and I can plug in using a normal outlet while working on the house say for 6-8 hours. Would that commute be possible with one of these? Also, if I’m charging all day, and then would have to charge at night. Is that really bad for it?
Hi from Norway. just bought a 2015 model for around 2500usd here they are selling for scraps. will all coilovers fit this electric model? lots of coils for ice 500 here but none branded 500e. do you know? Thanks
Have they changed the incentives in Ca. are they giving 3K back for a purchase of a used car? And if they do is it done when you pay taxes or do they mail you a check? If saw one going for 7,500 .
KBB raised prices and dealers are price gouging with glee. Its harder to justify the price because you need to drive it a lot more to offset your investment.
What rims and tires are you using? Did you need to do anything fancy to get the rims to fit? If I remember correctly, the bolt pattern on these cars is 4x98 so putting on 4x100 rims takes a bit more effort. I forget what the normal offset is though. Thanks
I just bought a 2017 Fiat 500e. It is in California, but I am in Pennsylvania waiting a week for delivery. My question is about the size of the roof. I thought of getting a flexible BougeRV CIGS 100W solar panel that lays flat on the roof to recharge an EcoFlow Delta 2 1000wHr solar generator and then schedule to recharge my 500e early in the morning. I don't drive much and can't plug in at home. Would a 44" x 35" panel fit on the roof? I guess only one 100W could fit. The wires would enter at the back hatch and the J 1772 charger would come out of the passenger side window. Does my idea seem plausible? It might offset preheating the car battery in cold weather.
I'd be able to drive that for just over a month back and forth to work 6 days a week since I'm round try just under 3 miles. I put a tank of gas in my truck once every two month, 4 months for my BMW Z3M and 3-4 month on my Honda motorcycle. I would drive that since 1 day a week is my long drive days leaving town. Need to take my Z3M for a drive...
This neighborhood looks familiar. Is this in Orange? I bought a 2016 500e for 6k in 2020 when car prices were super low. Im part of a fiat 500e group and one guy bought one for 14k... damn im glad I bought mine when I did
So what is the range? Can you gain ground clearance by using taller wheels/tires? What year is this car? Most importantly where do you get it for $5000.?? Can it work with a solar roof charger?
So I had a question you said in your video that you got to rebate for this electric car even if it's used you still get a rebate? And do you still get the stickers to put on your vehicle to drive on the freeway carpool lane still for a used vehicle? And did yours come with the TomTom GPS and if so did you like using it?
The utility company puts you on a cheaper rate plan here when you own an EV. The bill only increased about $50 per month. It’s less expensive to operate this car than it is to take public transport
I am in AZ and have a 2017 500e. Had it over 2 years now. I have a level II charger. Other than that infrastructure expense, I have honestly not noticed any real increase in my electric bill. I’m not in Commiefornia though with crap electric rates.
I really want to get one of these, but then rip out any unnecessary weight, stuff a few super capacitors in it and see if I can beat sports cars at the traffic light.
I plan to use solar panels to charge an Ecoflow Delta 2 solar generator. Charge it during the day and charge the car in the morning. I'll leave it plugged in, so the scheduler can do it everyday. I expect 4 miles a day per kilowatt.
I considered one of these about 5 years ago. The deal breaker is range. 50, 55 miles (then about 20 reserve miles) and you are out of fuel. Wish they would have built this with something a bit over 100 mile range and it would have worked for our situation. The '24 model has a claimed 165 mile range. That'll be much more practical... now if you could buy one for under $30k. Ain't happenin'.
ium very interested in thsi car! i live in an apartment with on street parking BUT 60 miles of range would hold me for 4 days before i need to figure it out and go charge somewhere
I have a 2016 and it has level 2 fast charging capabilities. I live in Z Loss Angeles so I don’t have a charger at home. I only use a public level 2 ChargePoint charger. From the factory, mine has an 87 mile range on a full charge. Driving with a lead-foot, using the a/c or heater, and driving up steep hills will lower that amount. If you buy a used EV, just make sure there is not much battery degradation. Mine probably only gets 75 miles or so on a full charge because the battery doesn’t seem to have full capacity anymore. But I still love it. I love love love not paying for gas and it’s really fun to drive!!
Dumb question. What about tire rotations? Don't you still need to rotate tires every 5000 miles? As someone that needs a vehicle for a 100 mile round trip commute, (and can only charge at work ideally), is this a vehicle that makes sense? I've been looking at a miata, but as I'll need to do 2000 miles A MONTH, fuel is still expensive for it (out of my monthly budget).
Hey! I'm looking to pickup a 500e as well, but I was curious, did you change the suspension on yours in addition to the wheels/tire? If so, what did you get?
@@ZentRose I have to assume the rims are 4 x 100 bolt pattern? So 'wobble nuts' were used and a centering ring? The stance looks great! We have a 2016 500e and love it, but I really would like to fix the gap!! Thanks, keep up the great work!
Hey man! So i see a 2015 Fiat E for 11k with 36k mile in my area, I drive a 2019 Kia Forte but payments are around 400 a month with insurance. This Fiat is cheaper payments and seems cheaper all together, would it be worth it?

It really hums pretty loud. Wheel bearings going out? Or do they all hum really loud?
I considered one of these about 5 years ago. The deal breaker is range. 50, 55 miles (then about 20 reserve miles) and you are out of fuel. Wish they would have built this with something a bit over 100 mile range and it would have worked for our situation. The '24 model has a claimed 165 mile range. That'll be much more practical... now if you could buy one for under $30k. Ain't happenin'.
ium very interested in thsi car! i live in an apartment with on street parking BUT 60 miles of range would hold me for 4 days before i need to figure it out and go charge somewhere
My commute is 50 miles everyday I currently drive a Corolla you think this car would be a good trade
I would prefer the corolla over this car
Will there be a upgrade for longer miles battery? So that you have to charge it everyday and longer driving.
Maybe never
I’m just 17 trying to get an inexpensive car that isn’t to big cuz I get nervous and I’m convinced 😄
If you want a small inexpensive car check out scion it's a discontinued brand by Toyota that Toyota still has support for
Since the brand is discontinued the prices are lower than normal Toyotas and they are extremely reliable
But if you don't want a scion try looking for a chevy spark or a mitsubishi mirage both can be found dirt cheap
Volkswagen beetles are also a good choice
@@thegodhoward8037 wow thank you I just looked into a Chevy spark and a scion they both seem like a good option
What bulbs did you end up using for better headlight?
I got some led bulbs off of amazon
You never mentioned what the range was when fully charged. And does it have fast charging capabilities?
You can’t rotate the tires on a 500e due to the front and rear having different offsets .
Hey! I'm looking to pickup a 500e as well, but I was curious, did you change the suspension on yours in addition to the wheels/tire? If so, what did you get?
Yes I lowered it with coil-overs and put Advanti storm 15x8 wheels on it.
@@ZentRose Any issues fitting those wheels? The fiat bolt pattern is a little different than a miata isn’t it?
@@longshanks23 yes you need variable pcd lug bolts and a hub centric ring
@@ZentRose what suspension did you put on it?
@@ZentRose I have to assume the rims are 4 x 100 bolt pattern? So 'wobble nuts' were used and a centering ring? The stance looks great! We have a 2016 500e and love it, but I really would like to fix the gap!! Thanks, keep up the great work!
I want that but what year is it__? I'm seeing $13-$15K for 2017-18s in Orange County CA. Where should I be looking for $6K __??
Whats the realistic range?
Hi doggo! The range anxiety keeps me from getting one. I exclusively almost drive my Abarth in LA because traffic and parking.
The Abarth is a ton of fun. Enjoy!
Looking for one now 😃
What LED are you using? Any issues?
I just got the cheapest one on amazon. No issues. Lasted longer than the halogen bulbs
Hey man! So i see a 2015 Fiat E for 11k with 36k mile in my area, I drive a 2019 Kia Forte but payments are around 400 a month with insurance. This Fiat is cheaper payments and seems cheaper all together, would it be worth it?
I would keep the kia personally
@@ZentRose Yahhhhhh your totally right
Here in Texas the gas price is low and there is no rebate for ev cars...
Lucky lol they come in clutch tho
where do you find a 500e for $5G?
In heaven
