LoGH BGM: Oberstein's Theme #1

- This BGM is, to my knowledge, twice closely associated with Paul von Oberstein, both times in the first season. The first time this BGM occurs is in episode #8 when Oberstein offers himself in service to Reinhard von Lohengramm after he escaped from Iserlohn, particularly when he confronts Kircheis with his "light and shadows" analogy. The second time this BGM occurs is in episode #23 when Oberstein advises Reinhard to allow a nuclear attack against Westerland to succeed in order to show the people of the Empire the brutality of the Lippstadt nobility. It's a combination of excerpts from the first movement of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 9 and sounds appropriately dark and sinister. :)
Oberstein didn't mind being shunned or hated, and probably preferred it. Evidently, he got all of the companionship he wanted from the dalmatian he took in from the streets.
Reinhard is ambition, Yang Wenli is wisdom, and Oberstein is efficiency.
The best comment i have ever read .......so thoughtful
Gale wolf is humanity
@@billsykes2977 chivalrous spirit i think,
Oberstein is pragmatism. Yes, the honor of the Imperial Fleet is important - until it interferes with the strategic interests of the Empire.
@Blaevy I disagree with the change in Yang. Yes he is most certainly intellegent. But I would not say that he is substantially more so than Reinhard however. Wisdom fits much better,
Such a cunning, shrewd, emotionally distant, snake in the grass. This show has amazing characters.
the mastermind behind the empire's success. the real unsung hero.
That's unfair, the empire's success was due to having highly competent and progressive people in almost all areas.
*cough cough* murders 2 million innocent people *cough cough*
@@jack__6206 cough cough 100.000 imperial royal army ships. A lot more than 2million would have die
This dude firmly stood by his Machiavellian principles for the benefit of the empire.. I can't forget his selfless act when he threw his body in front of Reinhard's during the assassination attempt in season 1. He's a tragic character who's shunned by all, all for the sake of the empire. He is, dare i say, a tragic, galactic hero.. :(
my fav character of all times.
ortzog in the book he never did that.
Oberstein was a powerful ally and a ruthless opponent. If not for him, the era of turmoil within the galaxy may never had ended. He wrapped up his legacy by removing all threats to peace, be they friends or foes, or even himself. He deserves the same amount of respect as Yang, Reinhard, Ruental, and all the others. RIP.
Oberstein is the true representative of a realpolitik statesman.
Oberstein, the ultimate utilitarian
Oberchads rise up
Benedict Cumberbatch could be great for this role if a live movie is ever made.
They shouldn't ever try to make LotGH live action movies. Series, maybe, but not movies.
Series remake coming 2017 by Production I.G. We'll see how it goes.
As long as it's not an animation of the manga adaptation drawn by the guy who made Houshin Engi, it has potential. If it is, then it'll be yet another terrible remake.
Wasn't this nearly perfect? They just need to use detailed ship models, better shading, and more detailed and high resolution animation. They can keep voice acting, and just look at ax combat to animate it more accurately.
Jesuschrist, yes
Obertstein, the embodiment of pragmatism
Amazing
Husbando's theme
This man would fit right into Ayn Rand's novels as a main character.
ew
ayn rand was a hack fraud. don't sully oberstein's good name like that.
