To be fair… in this situation he really can’t. This show would be KILLED if Matt voiced multiple women or people of Color.
@@Aquila009 late to the party but I recall Matt himself saying he wasn't super comfortable with doing voices of people of color in the 1st place even if he does it amazingly well
I like that David tennant has made a recent trend of being a voice actor in animated shows, he has such an iconic voice
It's funny you say that cause I feel almost the opposite, that his voice changes so much when he's doing some of these animated roles that I wouldn't have even recognized him.

I feel many of these castings they got because of how good and connected CR is as voice actors before even CR. This feels like they just asked their friends and they all said yes.

FUN FACT: Did you know that David Tennant was also the voice of Scrooge McDuck in the reboot series of DuckTales and Kelly Hu always been an amazing voice actress from Phineas and Ferb to Young Justice as Cheshire. When Greg Griffin do the villainous role she always aced it especially in Avatar:The Last Airbender when she was a Azulu!
More VA talent is yet to be revealed because of spoilers as well. What a amazing cast
While I'm curious about the decisions to alter Keeper Yennen and Archibald Desnay, I also love Gina Torres and Dominic Monaghan. But the 100% perfect casting choice was Grey Griffin as Delilah Briarwood.
My guess is maybe Matt (and maybe Taliesin) had plans or ideas for both that didn't come out in game. So the animated series is a chance to use those.
I didn't get so much of a vibe that Yennan was really altered, more that she may be playing a larger role this time around so we're just hearing about aspects of her that weren't as prominent the first time through.
As for Archibald, admittedly its been quite a while since I went through Campaign 1, but the name is only vaguely familiar. I don't even remember him well enough to have noticed he was changed if they didn't say so.
@@KaiserSoze679 The biggest change with Yennan was the gender swap. Keeper Yennan was male in the original game. Other than that, the character doesn't seem to have really been changed much, if at all.
Matt is so sweet and humble. His vast imagination and talent, and now he’s sharing the success of the show with everyone. I love him and all the cast, I’m ready to support them for a long time
They are also making room for more representation in the cast which has been one of the main thing missing from the main campaign. LOVE ALL THEIR CHOICES!!!
And all the choices feel natural, not like boxes of representation was checked because "reasons".
I wish more productions took the same level of care to balance representation with best for the job.
I honestly feel like that's why Matt isn't playing Gilmore. I never thought he'd pass up a chance to play thar character, until u saw that they cast an actor of a similar ethnicity to the character.
If they get Mark Hamill for the Whispered one... ohhhh man
The fact that they were able to get David Tenant is just wow. Great cast, I can't wait.

Watching this had me practicing my own upper crust villain voice and I kinda want to put more work into being a VA now lol getting into character without having to worry about your outward appearance is EXTREMELY liberating; for those interested, try it!
I love that everyone is getting to do this and that some of the best in the biz responded to this project; everyone seems PERFECTLY cast and I'm VERY excited for this to come out
Seems to me every aspect of the process of this series coming to fruition is overflowing with tangible magic. Can't wait!

I hope SO much that this goes well so that they can keep on going all the way of season 1 and then start up season 2 and 3... and also that they can make the search for Grog as a special episode/episodes and heck.. why not let they do the special Grog episode "Bunions & Flagons"
Don't feel overwhelmed, it's doable! I'm a newer Critter myself. I only started watching last March 2021. I finished watching the entire Campaign 1 by around September or October. I am now currently in episode 101 of Campaign 2. 🙂
I haven't stopped tearing up yet since they released the video. I'm so excited!
Honestly I am most excited to just hear the base cast do their thing to animated characters.
The one I am most surprised and happy about is Gina Torres. I just love Firefly so much and any chance I get to see any of that cast makes me super happy.

My hope for the series as a whole is:
1 season for the briarwoods arc (obviously)
2 seasons for the chroma conclave
2 - 3 seasons for Vecna
Overall 5 - 6 seasons is perfect, and I just want them to not rush through things, nor do I want them to really drag it out.
Then when that’s all done and dusted, The Legend of the Mighty Nein!
You need to have the Aramente in there somewhere, as well as Taryon and his arc
@@jw__11 I mean, that's all integrated, and will weave into the three main arcs. I imagine the steps of the Aramente will occur throughout the run of the show. And though the Taryon Darrington arc is in between the chroma conclave and vecna arcs, I imagine they'll end the chroma conclave arc with Scanlan leaving & meeting Tary. Then they'll begin the vecna arc with Taryon joining. He'll stick around for about half a season, and then Scanlan returns when Vecna really starts to become a problem.
It's all gonna be condensed together, so trimming the fat is necessary.
Honestly, Fans seem to me a little overhyped right now. It's understandable, because we're so close to the start, but let's see if the show gets enough views first. I have no doubt that people that watched CR will like it, but to be more than 2 seasons it has to draw in people that are new. And A LOT of them, animation is expensive. And I'm not so sure it will, because it is not easy to get new people to watch something that has so much inside jokes and backstory that they don't know. I do hope for more, I actually would love if the Mighty Nein get animated after that, because I think it would be even better. But I have my doubts, so I hope you're right with that optimism.

Episode 5: Percy's backstory (and buying all the mirrors in Emon ;) )
Episode 6: Journey to Whitestone (ending with the Sun Tree scene)
Episode 7: Making contacts
Episode 8: The Dukes' mansions
Episode 9: Open rebellion
Episode 10: The castle
Episode 11: The catacombs
Episode 12: The ziggurat
After that, you could almost break up seasons based on each time that they see Viktor Black Power merchant.
The mirrors were a Tiberius idea, so unfortunately that subplot more than likely won't be included.

To me the thing that stands out is the massive amount of love that comes into to it from everyone involved, and when people are this passionate, when they care this much, when they pour so much of themselves in to this project, it looks like it's overflowing with love, how can it fail? When people work on projects that they truly care about it shows

I love how you used the Marquesian greeting at the start Wendy! And I love how they've got their friends who have played guest roles to voice these roles. Felicia Day and then Kharyl as Uriel will be amazing and Darin de Paul (Sprigg!!!)!!!!! And needless to say that I think many of us reacted in similar ways to a number of these reveals.
I really hope that, at some point, Mary and Will F return at some point in a future series to reprise their roles as Zahra and Kash.
I've seen a lot of reactions by people who are not critters and it is very fun to watch them find Vox Machina, but watching some Critters react to this tugs at my heart just a little bit more ;)
So to follow up on my comment from the red band review....I shared this cast video with my wife (and we are big Dr Who and GoT fans), and her first question was "How much money did the kickstarter raise???" lol. But now I've got her hooked, no going back! She'll become a critter or I'll go looking for wife v2.0! just kidding...maybe
One episode needs gag credits where every NPC is listed as played by Matt
There is now greater joy for a creator to not only created something many people love with such passion as them but now share it with the world so the others can learn about and grow to love while fans can truly experience a masterful joyride. Also talk about voice cast they're stacked with quality powerhouses. Truly this will be a fun experience like no other before it
At Lease three to four of the voice actors are from the Overwatch game and are friends of Matt M.

I really didn't expect to see Gina Torres. I loved her in Firefly, Suits and Pearson. I checked her IMDB and realized she's been in other animated shows like a couple of Star Wars. Not being someone who watches much animation, it was a surprise to me.
It looked like Dustin was trying to remember where he knew Tracie Thoms from. She played Joanne in the RENT movie. I also loved her in Wonderfalls. She's actually done a lot of TV appearances, but those are the two I know her most from.
I predict in season 2 that we will in fact get a Mark Hamill Vecna!

About any of the characters
Give me your theory on who Ashley Burch is going to play in Season 2. She's in their creative writing team so surely her voice is easily available. So the fact that her voice isn't used, she is definitely being reserved for some character that will be introduced in season 2.
Raishan or Vanessa maybe? And Jennifer Hale for the other one?
Only character is the owner of the Slayer's Take in Vasselheim.
But regardless, I want to see how a certain blood-red tiefling comes in and slays a white dragon!
And of course, it goes without saying, seeing a certain cleric steal a kiss from our beloved druid, lol.
@Yik Long Tay Potentially. But maybe not. Mary herself isn't listed as part of the cast despite being the Director. You would think she would cast herself in, at least, one role. But if she's not going to be voicing any characters, I can see Ashley also opting out of going into the booth. However, we all know Mary and Will Friedle will be in the show at some point when their actual characters show up.

You said that you didn't watch season one of Vox Machina.
I would suggest watching it from the beginning. I know that it is a big investment but you can take it in little chunks.
You do need to survive Tiberius Stormwind but he goes away somewhere before episode 30 and the game really starts to jell.
There are sooo many little organic moments that mean so much to me even now.

I was going to suggest that you look at the comics, however, you have already beat me to it.
The best reaction to this particualr video on the internet. Paying attention to the video + awareness of Critical Role and its guest cast + knowledge of (voice) acting names = perfect reaction.
so I keep hearing the beep from discord in the background and it was driving crazy because I kept thinking I had messages on discord. Next time put your self in dnd so you are not disturbed, or we aren't lol (just one example so no one thinks I am crazy - during Felica Day's you hear it and I am sure I heard it prior to that too lol)
I have a hard time accepting anyone but Matt as Gilmore. But I will do my best. Freaking hyped about every other decision here.
For those unfamiliar, Stephan Root was the stapler guy from Office Space AND...and he played a few other animated voices like Bud Gleeful from Gravity Falls and Mayor Toadstool from Amphibia.
Speaking of, Darin is yet another Amphibia castmate; specifically the voice of Bog
Stephen Root has also played many voices on The Simpsons and Futurama as well.
The Allura reveal was the most amazing one.

I don't know if you can find the original-original VODs from the series but if you can they would be well worth watching. As an original backer of the show and G+S there was something so insanely intense about the 100s-1000s of us watching at once and interacting with the cast as they performed. Sadly they re-issued the original series mainly I believe due to the (admittedly naughty) copyright infringement of the opening artwork. But even when they made their first home-spun introduction the fan interaction was insane. Everyone seemed to know each other and all the artists were in chat responding to people admiring their art. Sigh. But I do mean it: Watch the original VODs if you can find them.
All 141 episodes are still on Geek & Sundry, the only thing that's missing is the unlicensed artwork, but even the intro is still there with the backstory, you just can't see the artwork. But you still can watch every single minute of campaign 1 if you like to.
