- The misty cool weather and the breathtaking mountainsides carpeted by tea gardens are no indicator of the political climate of these hills. As the heat and election fervour rise across India, the politics in Darjeeling is no different. This man, a young Gorkha was given the ticket pretty late as there was confusion over whether the BJP would field him or former foreign secretary Harshvardhan Shringla from this seat. Eventually, his margin of four lakh votes last time and his grip over regional satraps in the area worked for him. He now has the support of major parties in the hills like the Bimal Gurung-led Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha and GNLF or Gorkha National Liberation Front, parties that propagate the idea of a separate state of Gorkhaland.

Why Darjeeeling election so important? When people get nothing in the end even they promised to make separate state from bengal. Nothing is new only polticans get richer, and the public still has to suffer racist abuse and for their rights travelling any parts of the country.

These are the faces of so called Big parties but there is another face that you didn't show either intentionally or out of ignorance. That face is Ms Bandana Rai an independent candidate, an advocate by profession and a Social Activist. She has done so many things to help the poor, oppressed and voiceless people of Darjeeling hills. She has done more work than the sitting MP named Raju Bista a Big Talker and a Liar who only talked and talked and did nothing in 5 precious years. So all the Educated ,Conscious and self respecting Gorkhas will vote for Bandana Rai, a worthy daughter of Darjeeling soil.
Whoever comes to power, nobody would deliver Gorkhaland cause at the end votes matter and nobody wants to lose the rest of the Lok Sabha seats from Bengal

Gorkhaland is a movement of migrant Nepalese who immigrated to Sikkim And Darjeeling during modern history. Their Nepali identity is an off product of Nepali nationalism and identity that overspilled to Bhutan and Northeast area after they came to Mughlan. All Nepali people pahadka population ka identity formation Nepal se huwa hae. Nepal ka sahitya aur Nepal ka culture bahut follow kartey hain aur sabhi ko pata hain Nepalese identity Gorkha identity Gorkha rajawo se suruhuwa jo Nepal ka hi itihashik tathya hain. Nepali pravasi Assam Mizoram Meghalaya Nagaland Bhutan Sikkim me adhunik itihas me rehne lagey apna Nepali homeland chorke Northeast praves kiya. Bhutan aur northeastke pradesh me nepali identity rights demand karne se bahut political turmoil aur disturbance ki wajah se nepaliyo ko wahase dusri jaga palayan karna para. Gorkhaland ka sapna nahi ho sakta he kyu ki Nepali identity India me form nahi huwa hai aur is ka maang legitimate nahi he.

Darjeeling Hill and Tarai Dooars of North Bengal was the part of Nepal and later Sikkim before Anglo- Nepalease War. Later, it was considered as part of Bihar governed from Bhagalpur in colonial era. Post independence same is absorbed in West Bengal under Absorb Act. It is true that some people migrated from Nepal during colonial Era and in transition period but some people are indigenous habitat of Darjeeling ( came with land ). Since land is originated people follows Neaplease Culture.
When Land is absorbed their Culture also need to be absorbed.

Gorkhaland issue was diluted and ultimately forgotton by the public themselves who have to take responsibility . During the Bimal Gurung days it was almost everyone who exchanged it for masu bhat and dances and fun filled julus and naari morcha programmes etc after they evicted the original leader of the hills the one who raised the slogan of Gorkhaland in 1986.
ALL the rest are just pretenders who just want to make a quick buck.
As for the TMC unfortunately their actions in 2017 towards the Gorkhas will never be forgotton so its not that the BJP is popular. Its just that people vote for the BJP because they happen to be the bitterest rivals of the TMC.
Everyone is aware that No one (meaning not a single leader or representative of any party whether its BJP or TMC or Congress) actually cares about the issue of Gorkhaland. Its a pipe dream long forgotton. Sad but true.

Acche se dekhe toh Nepalese aur Nepali me koyi phark nahi he. Nepali abadi India me paharo me he aur kayi dusro northeast states me bhi milenge.
