I cant defeat skeletron on mastermode lol. im too lazy to farm for accessories like the different double jumps or fishing in the sky for sky crates. I just want to play the mastermode for the bosses and gameplay, not the grind.
@@yellowpancake7968 you can just fish for balloon pufferfish and shimmer them to shiny red balloon. it's easy to fish pufferfish since theyre not that rare
I used to struggle so much on WoF back in the day. Yesterday I beat him on legendary after the 3rd attempt on my true melee playthrough and went "Huh. Neat." I have put so many hours into this game and only gotten better and angrier at the bosses
I was actually surprised seeing the hammush dealing 500+ damage per second while true melee-ing with the titanium armor. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that DPS is higher than most actual weapons. It's situational, sure, but it's not the dumpster fire I thought it would be.
Most of the dps comes from titanium armor. The hammer itself deals negligible damage.
I think it deals more damage than ARMORLESS with Shadowflame knife
you could achieve the same effect with baghnakhs or pearlwood sword, most dps just comes from getting reliable damage which procs titanium armor setbonus, the titanium shards deal majority of the dps

I feel like switching off of ichor flasks and using flasks of cursed flame during queen slime's second phase would have been the optimal choice. Ichor only really matters when you're actually able to hit things while it's active. Meanwhile, the damage over time from cursed flame would have been useful in getting a little bit of chip in between actual hits.

That mid-empress wyvern spawn is precisely why I think enemy repellents should be implemented into the game, especially wyvern repellents in particular.
Actually its super funny how gungnir recorded this before the patch where enemies basically dont spawn during the empress fight

That was one of the most interesting and intense challenges I've watched for this game.
Prime, EoL and Moon Lord were really interesting here.
I also liked the phrase "Go go Gung!" sounds like a budget power ranger.

i did this challenge some time ago before 1.4.3 and it has actually been my favorite challenge run ive done. nowadays we have Lucy, but a bit of a Titanium Armor nerf where it used to be absolutely bonkers with Hammush. Butcher's Chainsaw is some good stuff though, and got buffed in i-frames. welcome to the club of people who can say they've beaten Moon Lord with a chainsaw
I was so stressed about the Empress of Light through my whole first playthrough that I didn't fight her until I already had a Zenith, now I think back on that and laugh at my caution for a fun fight.
I managed to beat Expert mode with all those OP items like Night's Edge, Drippler Crippler and Discord Rod, and it still was a nightmare. I really don't understand how the hell Master Mode is supposed to be passable.
And this guy beats Master Mode with freakin TOOLS.
I’m not up to this level of a challenge but for master mode I’d say I chug my potions like an addict and every buff matters. The preparation phase is the most tedious but that’s how you level the field.

Melee makes Master Mode comically easy now.
@@chaoton I did master mode basically buffless once. It wasn't too bad, I just had to focus on dodging.

I don't mean to throw shade at some of the other Terraria Tubers who do challenge videos too, but you are one of the few that go through all of the effort each and every time you start a new series which I appreciate and find enjoyable. The paladin counter really made me realize this as it is something that anyone who plays this game regularly can relate and feel the weight of, especially with your commentary.
There's a 2% chance of taking 30 paladins to finally get the shield. That's horribly unlucky
Tbh that’s almost normal for me but also ridiculous
the real number is 1.5331250459% for a span of 30 paladins that don't drop the shield, so closer to 0 than one might think
I will always remember these streams fondly because it was the first time I watched the streams live. I remember a lot of chat and Gung theorizing that the drills would be better for destroyer, and I went and tested it and found out that it only does 1 damage to destroyer so after telling Gung this he pivoted to using the war axe.
Jesus Christ, this looked painful, but Great job beating it Gungnir, I can't wait for the Terraria but only accesories deal damage.

I think the hardest part about this was balancing range, damage, and health/defense. You need to be able to hit the boss, while doing enough damage to not run out of time, and be able to survive the inevitable contact damage of being a true melee build

The funny part is the paladin farming I was doing a run throwable like weapons only and kept getting the shield and ribs never the hammer

The paladin farming reminded me of one time I was farming titan glove and I had to kill 33 mimics before I got the glove at about a 1/6 chance each time

Used Titanium Chainsaw on Destroyer, did a lot better than the Waraxe. You can facetank him even on Master with it, but it gets close.

I don't believe the dropchances from the paladin... I've always gotten at least the hammer once or twice before getting the shield. One playthrough i got the hammer 6 times before i got the shield. I feel ya man

your paladin shield grind reminds me of how long it took me to get a frozen turtle shell.
a 1 in 50 drop rate, it took 225 turtles until one dropped. it’s ACTUALLY a statistical anomaly

I've done this in journey mode to ease grinding (with some rules like no godmode or no disabling enemy spawns), made it to the lunar events but couldnt beat moon lord with a chainsaw and ice rod

Frost armor with ichor debuff works pretty well i think
The farming session reminds me of farming golem for sun stone the other day, fought him 30+ times, got 7 trophys, but no sun stone, I just gave up and played the rest of the game without it
you were so real for playing pokemon during the farming segments
I like to create artificial "rain" with a giant flooded arena basin and a bunch of pumps running straight up with 1/4 second timers. Then you can just fly back and forth through the waterfalls to get a splash to boost the shrimpy truffle.
imagine being a mechanical skull created for the purpose of reviving a god to power, then some guy comes and goes, "haha mushroom hammer go brrrrrrrrrrr"
I once got both the paladins hammer and shield from the same Paladin. I don't know how rare that is, but it's pretty cool.
the moonlord fight in the video reminds me when you was fighting moonlord in the randomized weapon every minute series

I did this challenge before, last summer specifically. I made it through the whole game but couldn’t beat the moonlord. It’s awesome to see it’s possible though!!! ❤🎉

I'm surprised you didn't use any of the chlorophyt tools. Last I saw the jackhammer was doing like 60 plus damage and with a proper melee loadout I've gotten it to 80 plus damaged
"Melee mode" on Skeletron Prime takes some balls. Just seeing you be that close made me nervous.
Boi is missing the most op things he has. BONE GLOVE IS A ACCESSORY THAT MAKES EVERYTHING SHOOT A DECENT FOR TOOLS PROJECTILE. My man’s could’ve saved so much time and suffering lol.

the paladin part reminded me of my traumatic experience with broken hero sword on one of my worlds with my only sword and friends just melee char i got 9 EoC yoyos and only 1 broken hero sword from 16 mothrons

Butchers Chainsaw do have a range attack from normal true melee
So if you're dedicated enough then you could place dummies to have some range
