Been driving a semi 26 years now. Everyday my focus is not to die. I can't drive 60 mph without constant drama from the motoring public. These little road ragers never let up. My asshole detector is constantly going off. Males driving pickups like in this video are by far the worse drivers. The people in 4 wheelers can't do the most simplest driving maneuvers. Like merging. I slow down to let them onto the highway they won't signal won't speed up won't look in there mirror's then once they are satisfied they've screwed me around enough long enough they almost always signal to go into the left lane and there is NOBODY around. Then they swerve back over after they pass the next truck. They disrespect and harass truckers all day and night. The constant bullshit of these morons swerving in front of me at every exit is non-stop. And of course the swerving right before the construction barrels when a lane is closed. I've had so many close calls. They refuse to use a mile long exit ramp. For some reason swerving 1, 2, sometimes 3 lanes to exit is the way to go. I have a dash cam. It's a must!!! I can't wait for the robots ro take over. There will be alot of crashes til the 4 wheelers learn that computers are not going to give in like we do. I would tell anybody who is looking at a trucking career. NO. From the president on down this society gives your life and your contributions no value.

@@1234michele I'm not a truck driver, but in the process of studying for CDL exam. I would see if there any safe driving courses you can take either through your state or car insurance company, that can improve your automobile license, so far as points. For tickets, I think once you've paid them, there might not be much you can about that, but I would still ask about it. Also I had a friend who wasn't the best driver, so he took a safe driving course, and found too late , it wouldn't help him with his points, because so much time had passed since he got the tickets & he had paid some of them. But having the safe driver course helped him get a part time rental car driver job, where he would bring cars to the car wash & back to customer pickup lot .then he parlayed that into a food delivery gig, and then next job was package / route delivery job, finally after 2 years he was accepted into a training program for medium to large straight trucks with a local company . The whole time, he always took the safe driver course at the whatever driver job was working at the time, or he paid to take it on his own. He also studied for cdl & passed the CDL first time. I know this route would take longer than you might want to take, but maybe it can work for you too. Good Luck!

As a professional driver myself, I see this kind of stupidity everyday.
I was riding in another guys truck last week to deliver a rig to the repair shop and he was driving like an idiot, playing on his phone, even texting!
He was a menace on the road.. weaving into the other lanes and onto the shoulder and tailgating.
I managed to get video of him on my phone without him noticing and called 911 to report him while in the truck it was so bad!
I got out of my seat and went into the sleeper area to make the call so he would not hear me but he took an exit and did not get caught.
I took the video to show the cop and sent it to the company so they could see what a bad driver he is!
    I quit that day.
    Bought my own truck.

I'm an ex-truck driver, and I've seen situations like this over and over. We humans tend to be too emotional and let feelings get in the way of our daily routine. It's sad to think that situations like this are why automated driving vehicles will become our next phase for transportation. An algorithm and set of rules programmed into a computer will always choose to make the right decision in interchanges, lane merging and stops down the highways.
The only driver keeping it cool on this video is the one with the tour bus, the other two were to weak minded and let their personal problems and emotions affect a simple task as driving....only one good driver out of three is too much of a hazard.
Btw, I am not a retired driver because any problems or my age, I work on a different business now but I gotta say it; I love driving....just wanted to greet all those professional drivers out there, STAY SAFE....!

Had a VERY similar experience last week, though the roles were somewhat different. The truck in this case was in the right lane doing nothing wrong, and I was in the left lane behind a car going the same speed as the truck. People began tailgating me and I couldn't even change lanes because of the truck. I hate being tailgated, it flusters me, but I was stuck so I began to do the same to the guy in front of me. Instead of just getting ahead of the truck and changing lanes, he brake checks me and sticks his middle finger out the sunroof. Thankfully the trucker took notice and slowed down to give me (and several others) room to go around.

going significantly under the speed limit can cause just as much danger, chaos, and traffic on the road as going significantly over. especially on a two lane highway. the speed limit is there to keep the traffic flowing the way the engineers planned.

Taking into account weight of the load and the incline/decline of the road that truck could go a little above 65 or way below. That said, a driver with an empty trailer will easily pass a driver will a full load on a medium sized hill. Going down would be opposite, and on a flat surface they both go 65. Smarter drivers are able to pass faster/easier. But let’s be honest, the trucking industry isn’t filled with Elon Musk types.

I drive a semi. You definitely did the safest thing the entire time. The law says slower traffic keep right or keep right except to pass. The guy in the pick up was the bigger idiot of the 2. I myself am a cruise control junkie. I set it to anywhere from exactly whatever the speed limit is to 3-5mph over but never more than that. And I keep right except to pass then I get back over. If traffic is getting thick and I can't even do the speed limit, I obviously turn off the cruise and just try to keep a safe following distance. On a final note of my comment PSA... To all people driving regular cars and pick ups and SUV's and mini vans or whatever... our turn signal does not mean hurry up and go around on that side. It means we need to move over. So stop flooring it when we put our signal on and give us some god damn space!

The number of people who do not grasp the concept of driving at a consistent speed is astounding. I will tell you why there are so many bad truckers these day. The reason is simple. In North America they are desperately short of drivers, so they have dumbed down the trucking industry. In the old days when I started they had non-synchro manual transmissions, so only skilled drivers got to drive big rigs. Today they put auto- shift transmissions in most trucks. You can come from the old country where you did not drive a car, go to driving school, and be a truck driver. Some of these guys are scary. I am so ashamed that the industry has deteriorated this bad.

What's troubling about this is that the driver in the left lane obviously isn't driving governed. I'm a company driver. I can only move as fast as I'm allowed to. I have to deal with other trucks and cars that are moving slower in front of me in the right lane, which is where I stay untill I attempt to pass. I do my best to calculate when I should try to pass though. If I see traffic in the left lane advancing faster than I'll be able to pass, I stay and deal with it untill I can be as far out of the way as possible and still move as I intend to.

I'm a retired truck driver and saw that same thing daily. Most trucks I drove were governed at around 65. The driver is the one to know if his truck can maintain speed on a grade or not. Sadly some drive like my first two wives that thought the left lane was for only them at whatever speed they wanted to drive. The worst drivers are the ones that remind me of a dog chasing a car. They give it hell til they catch it then don't know what to do. I don't know what it's like now( probably the same), but Connecticut used to be a great place for truckers to learn what lane they were suppose to be in and what speed to drive that truck. Not that I agreed with it, but you would learn quick.

Thank you for your video. What a punk the guy in the white puck-up truck was.
Finally, just one small correction: There is no such thing as a "fast lane," since speeding is illegal. The law states that the left lane is a "passing lane."
Just thought I'd throw that reminder out there, since people think you're not allowed to pass someone in the left lane unless you're going extremely fast. Nope, one is actually driving correctly if they pass someone in the left lane GOING the speed limit.
    Have a good one.

easy solution to the above situation I've had to deal with as a truck driver. Call the cops, report the pickup driver as a "possible drunk driver" and give them his license number. Guarantee they will spend the rest of the day looking for his butt. You can also report the truck for traveling in the passing lane, which is illegal, but guarantee cops won't care about that. If it comes up why you called them. the simple answer "anyone that brake checks a larger vehicle like a semi truck, I assume has to be drunk or high" Cops will likely find the guy, and ask him to perform a sobriety check, which will crap all over his day.

My "shiny 290" was likely to slow down ant look at the scenery. The station wagon driver passed me. he was waiting for me at the top of the hill and went down the hill slowly causing my truck to do the same. this went on for a few more hills. I saw he had a CB antenna, and described the vehicle, asking if his radio was on. He replied it was. I said I had a question for him ( you can imagine what he was expecting, but I had a surprise for him) . I asked if he had been to college, he said yes. I asked of he took any science courses, again, yes. I asked if he had taken physics, his curiosity is up now, he asked why physics. I asked him if he studied aspect ratios in physics, again, yes. Then I nailed him. I told him the aspect ration between my 80K tractor trailer rig and his station wagon was identical to the aspect ratio between his station wagon and a pedestrian, and asked him how a pedestrian would fare against his car. His wife hit him so hard he went to the shoulder, sped up, and her finger was in his face until he was clear out of sight.

Funny how so many are complaining about being stuck behind a truck. Frustrating isnt it? Truckers feel the same way. Think how frustrating it must be to be stuck behind a vehicle that is crusing 3 mph slower than you and all you want to do is pass them. But your truck is limited by a governor or by all the small hills that cars dont even notice. When you finally get on a flat road or a slight decline and have a sizable gap in traffic to pass, but then as you start passing and are inching passed, the vehicle you're passing decides to give it a little more gas, or you hit a small hill that slows you down ever so slightly... can be kind of maddening sometimes. Not to mention, us truck drivers are on a timer and when times up, that truck cannot be on the road. If that truck isnt moving, we aren't getting paid. Paid by the mile.
Safety is always first when driving a truck, but everybody on the road wants to go the speed they want, and usually that's as fast as possible. The difference is if a car gets slowed down they can easily pass a slower vehicle and continue on at the speed they want or do 90 for a few seconds to pass, if a truck gets slowed down, they are much more limited in acceleration and speed.
I'm not sure if the truck in the video was slowing down by choice or not, but the next time you get a little held up by a truck, have a little empathy.
Also, pretty sure the truck wasn't intentionally squeezing the bus. In a truck, the unevenness of the road is magnified compared to a car and it can throw you off a little especially on a curve when you are trying to hug the outside line without being thrown over the line. and they were on a curve.

    C) Did not move over to allow traffic to merge (i.e was already in left lane before on-ramp)
    D) (Not applicable)
By definition, Trucker was in the wrong. He's perfectly fine in left lane as long as he sped up to pass slower traffic, or had to get over for merging traffic. He was literally just hanging in the left lane matching his speed with right lane traffic, which is obstruction of traffic and against the law.
Washington traffic law: (2) Upon all roadways having two or more lanes for traffic moving in the same direction, all vehicles shall be driven in the right-hand lane then available for traffic, except (a) when overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction, (b) when traveling at a speed greater than the traffic flow, (c) when moving left to allow traffic to merge, or (d) when preparing for a left turn at an intersection, exit, or into a private road or driveway when such left turn is legally permitted.  On any such roadway, a vehicle or combination over ten thousand pounds shall be driven only in the right-hand lane except under the conditions enumerated in (a) through (d) of this subsection.

I frickin' HATE people that ride the passing lane and don't pick up speed, especially if they aren't doing the speed limit! I understand the ones that like to drive slow and there is a left turn exit coming up, but 20 miles of straightaway with an idiot in that fast lane seriously grinds my gears.

A few years ago we bought a Class A motorhome, not huge, just 31 foot. After driving on interstates I've began to research secondary roads and travel them whenever possible even if it means more miles and travel time. I was driving I-81 northbound in Virginia a few months ago and twice got ran onto the shoulder by passing trucks. Kudos to you for handling this like a champ.
