    "It's a little rough" = still better than every drawing most people have ever attempted. :(

    Jim Lee makes it look as easy as tying his shoes. I know he has put in years and years of work to get there.
    Someday I hope I reach his level.

      situation in my country
      teachers:if you want to be a comic artist you should learn fine arts and realistic drawing (charcoal with normal lead), it will teach you structure and shading.
      me:but i dont need shading, and i can use clip studio to use figure reference, perspective
      teacher:shut up you think you can draw comics better than me?(a fine art teacher,who teachs only realistic drawings)
      me: but i need emotion, story telling, cool bodys. i can learn other thing by myself faster.
      teacher:fuck off you disrespectfull shit.

    I love how fast he starts busting out the good one. Yeah I know, it’s takes years of work and determination. But it’s still mind blowing watching him whip that out like a piece of cake.

    I'm in awe at how much of an amazing artist Jim Lee is, I'd give an arm and a leg just for one of his drawings like this.

  • @PaladinsFury
    @PaladinsFury 8 років тому +8

    The one thing I've noticed about Jim's work is that he still has a very old school mentality when it comes to his drawing shade into the pencils and inks. These days a good colorist can get great shading affects but Jim still grades like all the colors are flat

    That's is interesting how he explains the drawing person with materials. I often see videos that they explain something with a ball. I wanna the Batman sketch XD

    Yeah, so something like that would probably take me hours to draw, and would still look peasant like in the end. I have like one great Batman drawing, which took me hours to complete, and I had to use a picture (if anyone would care to look at it, it's on my G+ page). I do wish I could draw without having to look at a reference image, though. Anyways, thanks for posting the video!

    • @huskytzu7709

      I just saw your drawing and it's not that bad for an amateur tbh. At first i used to draw like that and I've been practicing ever since. Now I'm to a level where i can actually show my work to people and they praise it. So i would say don't give up . if this is what you want then you can have it with loads of practice. Keep working on it. You'll get there is eventually.😊😊

    This never took off. They even spent money creation a motion book and everything... SadJack kirbys what?..couldn't make out what he said?Should I ever get the privilege to watch Mr. Lee do a live demonstration, I will make it my mission to patrol the audience with a stick; dispersing swift justice to those fools who unnecessarily shout out while he's speaking. "It's a little rough" = still better than every drawing most people have ever attempted. :(

    At 22:20 what did he write after Jim Lee? Was it ZOB? And what does it mean?

  • @standepain
    @standepain 8 років тому

    Want to throw Jim Lee for a loop? Ask him to draw someone's back! The guy can draw basically anything but go through any issue and count how many time you see the back without a cape. lol He's gotta have a few flaws!

    • @BrokenGodEnt
      @BrokenGodEnt 8 років тому

      +Dr. Dhoom I believe the person is referring to another video (I don't remember which) where a person asks his biggest weakness and Jim says "the backside" and he draws a backside and then he says "and that's why we have capes"

    • @standepain
      @standepain 8 років тому

      +Dr. Dhoom Nope! I've been a fan of his, collected and studied every issue up until the mid 2000's. Go back and look and you will see that if it's a pose from the back their is usually a cape covering the back. Once in a blue moon you will see a shot of the upper back but his anatomy is always off. It's had to see since he puts in so much detail unless you know anatomy you'll never see it. Again, that's is about his only real weakness. Lol joe Kubert pointed that out to me by the way and there aren't many better people at anatomy than him...maybe Neal Adams and Mobeius.

    • @standepain
      @standepain 8 років тому

      +Dr. Dhoom Yes. He was one of my instructors at his school.

    Love Jim Lee but he always draws 2 sets of ears on Batman. It doesn't make sense. The human ears are a big, black hole on the side of the head, always. Wish he'd stop doing that.
