I wonder if it has a function where it sends the translation to an earbud where we can hear what people around us are saying in Tagalog without them knowing. ...😁
Thanks for this Gio! This came in very timely as my daughter and I are traveling to Japan in a couple of weeks. I was able to order the item and it comes next day via Amazon (here in the USA). I'll follow up with you after our trip and let you know how it goes! By the way, I didn't initially see your discount code, so I quickly cancelled the first order I made and then re-ordered using your discount Code. You saved me $45!! Thank you!
That device seems to work very well. Thanx for the review. If you are going all the way up to Hanoi I would highly recommend going the extra distance to Ha Long Bay. Doing an overnight cruise on a Chinese Junk style boat is a wonderful experience. The scenery and islands are unbelievably beautiful. You would definitely have the opportunity to do many more inspiring videos.
Hey Gio, and Maya, this is a very cool product per your demonstration and will obviously need a part two of cost and durability/functionality, etc. I would hope it would be like most products over time they would hear various comments and complaints to adjust software updates to accommodate features or add languages. Good presentation.
@@GiointhePhilippines Take it thru all the motions. My layover at LAX I set by an elder Chinese couple they used a translator we talk throughout the day. it was really cool to see the dictation on her phone as we both spoke while listening to it play back
That's very expressive.. Will wait for a android phone version using software.. Buying a whole new device doesn't seem practical. But thank for the video 😊
this is just one step below the StarTrek standard where its instant with there universal translator. Imagine if that was available...i wonder if it can ever be created the ST Version, but this is the next best thing til that unknown star date.
Does it have a feature to “tap text”? My father has ALS and this would be a great assistive device if a text feature is available instead of solely being voice activated. Thank you kindly!
Is Tagalog one of the offline languages? I haven't found Tagalog included in any device for offline translations, which is handy when you are out & about in rural areas without a wifi or cell signal. It's good to see it can connect using a cell signal as most can only connect via wifi for their offline languages. It would be great to select what offline languages you want (2, 3 or 4 languages) to download to the device so that no wifi or cell connection would be needed. How would you compare this to the ear buds you tried earlier for accuracy and ease of use since you'll need to carry this larger device around with you compared to the smaller ear buds but the ear buds couldn't use a cell connection for Tagalog (which is a useful feature of the larger device) and required wifi for the offline languages.
What they refer to as Filipino is actually Tagalog. Unfortunately, the most common language used in Negros Oriental, Bisayan (aka Cebuano), is not supported.
Google Translate app has the translate from camera function also, not sure how many languages it works with though. I think this would be a better product to have for me than the ear buds, since I'm always using my headphones to listen to music on my phone. I like the offline mode, everything requires an internet connection now-a-days, but you're not always in a place that you'll have one. Can you save the conversation that is on the display? Could be handy in helping to learn the language if you can.
Not to go astray but how likely is it I can find a 420 Filipina? Haven’t seen much on this topic. It wouldn’t be a dealbreaker for me if she didn’t partake, but many times it is a dealbreaker for her and I am not changing.
Wife and I (Filipina) plan on going to Dumaguete starting September for long term. She speaks tagalog only and we knopw Duma is visaya. Doesa this device do opther dialects beside tagalog? Thanks and we really like your vlogs!
What I’m looking for is one that can translate tagalog voice - offline with no internet. Where my wife’s village is there is no internet and no decent mobile signal.

Thanks we got it yesterday, works great. Thanks for the 15% off code !!!!
Nifty! Good to know, thanks Gio.
That would help anyone globe trotting. It's amazing how A.I. can be both a benefit and a danger. Take care.
I could use something like that Gio it seems very helpful when learning other languages
will it work outside in screaming traffic, motorbike's, barking dogs, crowing roosters , probably not.
I wonder if it has a function where it sends the translation to an earbud where we can hear what people around us are saying in Tagalog without them knowing. ...😁
Yes, I would like to know more about the listen feature on both items.
From what Gio said, you could just put the device in listening mode and listen to the translated conversation later.
Yes, correct
Brilliant idea

oh Thank you Gio, for this video i have the same pocket translator, so it is nice knowing how to work it now ok hehe
Pretty cool device!
cool, how do you think it would be in a group setting? where I am with my wife's family, maybe 6 of them and I'm listening and occasionally speaking.
I think it would be ok
Interesting 👍🇺🇲

Much better than the earbuds in my opinion. I don't think Tagalog is one of the offline languages.
I would prefer to learn Tagalog than use a translator.

How would it work in the provence from Bisca to English and no internet in the area?
Some languages are available for offline

Can you translate from visaya to English as it would be great to talk to my girlfriend's parents
I have the ear buds and they don't do it either
Looks like a cheap Android phone with a clever program in it.
