    You are not an idiot. If this stuff was simple, everyone would be doing it. There isn't any one of us that haven't had a case of the "stupid" working on a car. Mine was getting the third and fourth cylinder mixed up on an air cooled VW while trying to set the valve lash. I was turning the crank to the 4th cylinder and adjusting the valves for the 3rd cylinder and then moving the engine to adjust the 4th cylinder valves and wondering why in the hell the 3rd valves were so damn loose! After reading the book about 50 times, I figured it out.....and the car ran great after I adjusted the valves correctly.

    Don't be ashamed of what you discovered. It is all about keeping it real and even if it helps just one person then that can only be a good thing. You did the obvious checks and you realized there was nothing fundamentally wrong with the engine.

    I had a similar problem 7 years ago with mine. I had too much pressure on the system and was actually blowing oil out of the front seals. It turned out to be a broken nipple on the flame trap. Once I replaced the trap the problem went away and hasn't returned. You live and learn!

    • @Involvod
      @Involvod  2 роки тому +1

      That makes sense, the same as it being blocked, no vacuum to get the pressure into negative. Thanks for sharing!

    i went to check my Micra and found I had too much Oil in him and I had Oil firing out of the filler Cap ,
    Not only an overfull Engine Oil level but also .....The wrong length and markings of another Micra engine type Dipstick ,
    What a little f**ker , Been adding Oil by the dipstick level by .5 litres too much for 2nd time since purchase in 2020
    (lesson learnt ? Don't trust the things you should trust and search all possibilities ..)
    Oh and by the way , I used the actual cap , not a glove as it will suck the cap when close enough onto the hole .
    A silicone glove may become an issue if you get it sucked into the engine I would think .....

    • @Involvod
      @Involvod  2 роки тому +1

      Haha yeah, what a trap! 😅 I know what you mean about the glove, I do get worried it's going to pull it in, especially when everything is working like new!

    Thanks for this and the previous video. I have had giant puddles of oil under the car. It had many faults. The pcv box was clogged. The nibble on the intake was clogged and the vacuum line crispy. Now it finally sucks the glove instead of inflating it

    Hi, I too had the same problem. The clogged and hardened pipe and the clogged ducts. I cleaned the ducts well and put in a new tube. But now the idle has risen to around 1000/1100 rpm. Why?

    • @Gianmarco750
      @Gianmarco750 Рік тому

      I'm happy because I solved the problem of too high idle after cleaning the oil vapor filter (the small filter near the injectors). It was the TPS that was misadjusted. It was at the end of its stroke and did not close the throttle body properly. I adjusted it and now the idle is ok.

    • @Involvod
      @Involvod  2 роки тому +1

      It was leaking just before, because of all that excess pressure it blew the front crankshaft seal, so it's still leaking now even with a new box 😏

    I've just seen a couple of your video's and there really good. Leave the mistakes in there as we all learn from it.
    My 940 has a Buick/Holden V6 fitted to it and I've just spent a small fortune getting the correct rocker cover gaskets for it. Not only that it has now left a small oil deposit on the driveway.

    Saving this video in case I need to fix the PCV on my b200k. It is basic though when you think about it. Just find the PCV and clean/inspect every single tube and component.
    Also funny watching all PCV videos on youtube because there are people out there who genuinely believe that you are meant to have that excessive pressure pushing out the rubber glove. The argument is "It's called POSITIVE crankcase ventilation. There shouldn't be a vacuum!"

    On 3 of my 4 red block 2.3L Volvo's I run a 140 valve oil cap which has a center steel breather tube extension coming out of the cap center and connect a heater hose down to the frame. Any blow-by is exhausted thru the hose, and yes there's some minor oil discharge to the ground. In the states, after 25 years the car is exempt from emissions testing where I live. If needed, you can remove for smog test and use the sealed cap. Search eBay for Volvo 140 oil cap, you'll see the application. 👍
