    They never include Paris because the city proper is a very small area and only a fraction of the greater city. For London they always include greater London and for cities in the US they use the whole metro area. The comparison makes no sense.

    Istanbul is right in the Eurasian boarder where Europe meets Asia, and was the most significant trading spot on the silk road. It was both the trade destination for west and eastern cultures to swap, and also where people would go to cross to the other side as travelers. Istanbul is probably the culturally and geographocally significant place on earth in its history.

    I would like to point out that both London and Paris metropolitan areas has population that’s over 10 million. It’s kinda stupid that at this point they just don’t make it part of the actual city. Like take Paris for example, the whole ils-de-France region is basically a giant city, and they function as one city too, so they really have every reason to just make the whole region Paris instead of calling it metropolitan area..

    • @cisium1184
      @cisium1184 3 місяці тому +2

      Paris may just do that at some point as it has a history of growing its borders (or at least building new walls) for tariffing purposes. I don't think London will though. It's always been kind of an amorphous cluster of villages, that's part of its charm.

    • @MisterIncog
      @MisterIncog 3 місяці тому +6

      By that logic we might as well include some bigger part of Moscow, and that population would be anywhere between 15 to 25 mil. A lot of people who live behind the MKAD, Moscow Automobile Ring Road, that marks the border of Moscow, work in Moscow, go there every day through public transport and spend most of their time in Moscow. Do we count them in? Probably.
      Wait, Moscow beats them even without it, she alone has 13 mil people. But it would change placing for Paris, putting it near London.

    • @Seibanori
      @Seibanori 3 місяці тому +3

      @@MisterIncog bro, relax, I’m not even competing with Moscow or anything, I’m just stating the fact. Lol London and Paris metropolitan area are really just one city at this point, I’m surprised that whenever people talk about Tokyo, they r referring the area and population of Tokyo metropolitan area or ‘首都圏’ in Japanese, but the same doesn’t apply for both London and Paris.
      But if you have to be so aggressive over here how about take this, both London and Paris are both historically and economically significantly more important than Moscow, yes you might be bigger in terms of population at some point of the history such as right now but nobody really cares while London and Paris being two of the most important cities in the world.

    • @Seibanori
      @Seibanori 3 місяці тому

      @@cisium1184 of course, I love the amorphous in English and French villages. But I do think at some point the city must grow isn’t it. @MisterIncog 3 місяці тому +1

      @@Seibanori oh, sorry if I came out too aggressive. Didn’t mean to, my bad. Agree with you on all accounts. Tokyo is a great example. Though I think the fact that Japanese public transport is far better and more culturally important than London’s, Paris’, or basically any European public transport in general, adds to the perception of Tokyo metropolitan as part of the city. And in this sense I guess Moscow wins as well, it’s one of the best public transport systems in the world. Don’t like to suck up to russian cities, but I have to guve credit where credit is due
