      And the follow up. Like, dang. I wish you wanted this, too, but like- the foundation of a relationship that works is when you’re both willing to prioritize the other person’s needs over your own sometimes.
      It doesn’t have to be every time prioritizing the other person’s needs, but it’s gotta be more often than “never.”

      ​@@Fuji_9.63this is unfortunately very true. to add to that, I was also raised in that environment. sex is the dirtiest thing, but at the same time, everything is sexualized. to the point where even the word "intimacy" is basically synonymous with sex. the puritanical prudishness runs very deep.
      (not saying any of that to excuse these horny little dorks behavior, just giving an example of where this kind of awkward and suppressed conduct comes from)

    This is so interesting because it makes sense. A man knows that his wife would laugh at him if he tried to use more serious game so to save himself the embarrassment, he just cuts to the chase and tries to make it ridiculous out the gate. That way if she laughs, then that's fine. That's what you're supposed to do at ridiculous things. But, he still feels the need (and rightly so) to communicate sexual desire. This is the best middle ground he can find. It's not terribly bright or creative but it makes sense.

      Not much competition. Apart from Update and PDD it was a terribly unfunny show. The Family Video sketch probably edges this one out for me though.

      I agree, the dorky humour approach sucks. Never do that.
      Avoiding making the first move works occasionally quite well. When she wants a back rub, you do just that without escalating. Withholding intimacy will force her to make the first move, which is good for your self-esteem

    The best SNL sketches don’t just make fun of one group for some absurd trend or dynamic, they usually point out that both groups contribute to it in some way. Like when Dakota Johnson says “I would laugh at him of course” or with Jason Mamoa and the Rome sketch where the women starting rapping about astrology.

      This sketch went totally over your head…I guess not everyone is fortunate to know what it’s like to be in a happy, healthy relationship to see the humor and lightness of the annoyance this sketch portrays. It’s not dark, it’s not a sign that women don’t want to sleep with their partners, it’s the fact that grown ass, intelligent men sexualize the most mundane thing like taking a shower and turn into horny children when they see a little bit of boob and we’re laughing at it.
      You can tell the men who are happy and get it because they’re not defensive at all…
