My heart hurts, my eyes cry, but I can't take the smile off while I'm listening this beautiful and gracious chant. Viva Cristo Rei, eterna seja sua glória
No, we haven't abandoned FBIV. Yesterday's song wasn't even posted by the same admin who speaks to you. I'm currently getting back on my feet from a huge storm of disgraces that haven't yet ended. I beg your understanding. I, Nero, the main admin and the mind behind both communities will never forsake the ideal or the men who died for it as they have given much more than I could ask for, their will gives me strenght and I swore I would walk on their path as long as I lived. I have many many great plans for 2019, and my new project is already in a pdf I sent to a few selected people. In time I will find a way to broadcast it and wait for the Community's verdict. All I ask you is patience, and to trust ONLY in news coming from this channel, or FBIV. Until then, I have my own battle, and it's taking the best of me. Please pray for us all, and God bless us. So long, space cowboys.
Playing the video, I immediately noticed that this chant is also being used here in S. Korea, as the name “임하소서 임마누엘이여(Come, o Immanuel)”. Being very far from the old Christendom, I was amused that how universal, catholic, and eternal the Catholic Church is… Love from a Catholic person of Korea, land where many people embraced Catholicism themselves, not by missionaries, and died trying to save it from the heathen Confucian government in 18-19c.
Korean catholic* saying catholic person is just so non-specific and broad term used to refer only to a catholic in third person in a undetermined manner
That was the idea when, hundreds of years ago, those first christians unified all ancient texts under latin language. Now, I can attend the Holy Mass in Latin, here in Brazil, or in Seoul, South Korea, or Praetoria, South Africa... It was and will always be this way, as Our Lord promised.
I am not a Catholic but I appreciate the reverence and beauty of this song. Thank you for uploading it. Merry Christmas to my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ!
When i hear this song its like i hear violins and cellos from heaven playing. For our lord jesus is born! Rejoice fellow christians and believers now you can. We might be the last of our kind
Always liked this Christmas Carol for its chanting. Didn't know it was catholic until now and i grew up pentacostal. The voices alone make the song without instruments, family doesnt understand how I am attracted to this kind music.
I'm atheist but I love many of the songs from this channel. I once went to see a performance in a catholic church, and the bishop said that "only certain types of music can be played in this church". God bless him!
If you allow me to lend you a bit of advice, begin by reading the Summa Theologica. Thomism isn't the only way of explaining God, and the eastern church seems to abhor Saint Thomas' way of showing God as something explainable, but this work alone was able to provide a very strong basis against many doubts and heresies for at least 800 years. If you're down to talk we're also willing to amicably and logically discuss it.
@@juliuscaesar5397 Attraction to the things of God, and love of what is True, Good and Beautiful is already a prayer. Seconding Ex Cathedra's endorsement of Aquinas' "Summa," I would point out that St. Thomas presented his proofs of God's existence to a world in which Atheism hardly existed; purely out of respect for human Reason. Also, he distinguished between "knowing" the rational proposition that there is a Creator (First Cause, First Mover) and "knowing" the personal God of Scripture. One is accessible through unaided human reason, the other requires Divine revelation and our faith. Lastly, you may be interested in the column of this American Catholic Socialist: theweek.com/authors/matthew-walther
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's noticed that the traditional English so called "translation" of the last verse is an utter fabrication. Beautiful singing + accurate translation makes this video perfection; well done and thank you.
Ex Cathedra, I recently discovered your channel from the post on FBIV and I have loved all your videos. I suggest you upload a song called Palastinalied (might be hard to translate because it’s in Middle High German).
He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, He gave them power to become the sons of God: to them that believe in His Name, who are born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. *AND THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH,* and dwelt among us; and we saw His glory, the glory as it were of the only-begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth
Jews need Christ too. Pray for them and be patient with them fellow Catholics. As Christ was patient with us while we learned. Jesus is Jewish after all.... If the Jewish people are special to God, then why would we not love them too?
It is a latinized version of the hebrew Imanu'El, which means "God with us". It was first used by the prophet Isaiah, in a prophecy that said a virgin would bear a son, and this son would be called Imanu'El, and would symbolize the presence of God Himself and His protection to the House of David (here intended as the representatives of the people of God), casting away the enemies of the kingdom of Judah. The evangelist Matthew later comes to expand the descent of the Christ, and shows how the prophecy is fulfilled on Him.
"Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel."
My heart hurts, my eyes cry, but I can't take the smile off while I'm listening this beautiful and gracious chant.
