Jeju is Korea's largest island and is a popular vacation spot and honeymoon destination for Koreans and Chinese. The island is crowded with tourists all-year round; 15 million visit each year an island of 600,000 and Seoul-Jeju is the most-used flight route in the world. The island offers visitors a wide range of activities including hiking on Halla-san (South Korea's highest peak), catching sunrises and sunsets over the ocean, horse riding, visiting the sets of Korean television drama or just lying around on the sandy beaches. Geographically it lies southwest of Jeollanam-do Province of which it was a part before it became a separate province in 1946. In 2006, it was granted self-government as South Korea's only Special Autonomous Province. Jeju has its own English language magazine created by foreign residents on the island - Jeju Life.
South Korean nationals were not allowed to travel internationally without government permission until the late 1980s and, therefore, Jeju island was heavily developed as a domestic vacation destination. It has also been traditional for Koreans to spend their honeymoon there (look out for couples wearing the same clothes). The island also happens to be South Korea's main location for unusual theme parks and niche commercial attractions with eccentric museums for sex, glass and teddy bears.
The name Jeju means “a huge village across the sea”, reflecting its location from Korean mainland among southern Korean tip, notably Mokpo, Kyusu of Japan and southern China. Its original and beloved nickname is Tamna (탐라) with a meaning of “island nation”, which supposedly lasted till its complete seizure in 12th century. Consisting of 8 inhabited islands and 82 uninhabited islands (as of 2010), Jeju has a sub-tropical to temperate climate, inarguably top tourist destinations in South Korea, attracting more than 8 million tourists worldwide every year. (Korea Tourism Organization) Thanks to increasing low-cost airliners, more tourists can easily have accessibility around the coast.

제주에 빠지다.
제주도는 밤바다가 정말로 아름다운 곳이다.
물론, 사면이 바다다 보니 아름답지 않은 곳이 있으랴?
그중 개인적으로 밤바다는 힐링이 제대로 되는 제주도만의 독특한 모습이 아닐까 싶다.
본 영상은 제주항의 7부두에서 새벽에 촬영한 영상이다.
가끔 머리속이 복잡하거나, 잡념이 많을때 보면 개인적으로 힐링을 많이 느끼는 영상이다.
제주도, 낮바다도 좋지만, 밤바다도 기회가 되면 구경을 해보았으면 좋겠다.
낮에는 에매랄드, 저녁에는 또다른 바다의 모습.
사람마다 취미가 다르다.
그중 제주도는
1. 낚시 - 제주해안 어느곳이든 낚시꾼이 끊이지 않는다. (낛, 밤, 바다 낛시 등 제일 많은 취미인을 가지고 있지 않을까?)
2. 자전거 - 환상 자전거길외에는 크게 메리트가 없다. (경로가 정해져 있다보니, 재미가 솔직히 덜하고, 지루하다.)
3. 등산 - 한라산 외에 오름이 대략 360개 정도가 있다. (올레길과 더불어 느린여행의 대명사는 오름탐방이 최고다.)
4. 골프 - 전국에서 골프장이 제밀 많은 단일지역이 아닐까? (렌트카와 더불어서 골프장. 개인적으로 참 아쉽다.)
5. 승마 - 몇몇곳에서 이루어진다. (제주도 말의 천국이지만, 정작 말을 볼 수 있는 곳은 드물다?)
6. 수영 및 스노쿨링 - 여름에는 그야말로 여름 스포츠의 천국이 아닐까? (서쪽은 협재, 동쪽은 함덕 해수욕장)
7. 기타 - 전국에서 작가가 제일 많은 지역이 제주도가 아닐까? 인구수 대비? (당신도 작가가 될 수 있다.)
등을 하면 좋다.
끝으로 제주도 파면 팔수록 양파같은 곳이다.
그런데, 항상 한국어와 영문 홍보책자를 보면 거의 뻔한 여행지만 소개한다.
당장 유튜브 영상을 보더라도, 거의 대부분이 획일하된 여행지이다.
바다를 보더라도, 제주 밤바다를 소개한 영상은 많이 없다.
그리고 관심도 없고....!!!
일출, 일물, 에매랄드 바다, 밤바다!!
제주도의 바다는 정말 어느곳이든 매력적이고, 특색이 다르다.
가급적이면 여행을 왔다면, 기회가 되면 밤바다 구경을 해보았으면 좋겠다.
일출, 일몰과 더불어 제주 밤바다는 반드시 구경해야 하는 3대 바다가 아닐까 싶다.
