hey everyone so i made a new lyrics video for one of persona 5 royal soundtrack, No More What Ifs, if you want to check it out here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/DucazTkd5Ps/v-deo.html enjoy, and stay strong during these hard times
This song reminds me of how fragile the concept of individuality really is. Everyone wants to fit in. To wear their masks of normalcy. They hide their true selves because they’re afraid of what others will think. Their true selves fleeing to the back of their mind. It’s honestly tragic. People don’t even comprehend how important ones true self is. It’s sad
I hate myself for not finding this game earlier, i tried it on a friend’s account , played 5 hours, then went ahead and bought p5 royal on my account and finished it twice in less than 2 weeks and i can proudly say that it’s one of my favorite games of all times
I love this song. This quarantine has been super boring so I got persona 5 just because i saw it and it looked interesting. Im so addicted to it at the moment and ive been playing nonstop. This song has been playing on repeat in my head since i started!😂 again i love this song and im happy to actually see what she is truly saying instead of guessing.
me too buddy. picked up P5 last week and its been helping since i got laid off, keeping me busy. but the soundtrack is so great and catchy. Cant get this song out of my head but in a good way ya know. wish i got into this series sooner
Same here im an orchestral bass player. So im trying to get the notes to the bass part so i can play it whenever i want. But i dont have the game cuz i play on xbox -_- big sad
Dude same I just picked up persona 5 and it's been helping me stay sane during quarantine, i cant begin to describe how much iv fallen in love with this game the music and everything is amazing !
This song brings tears to my eyes because I am autistic, and feel I cannot unmask safely. Funny how a song in a video game can so succinctly and beautifully express those things I experience. More than many other things.
To be your true self means to be somewhat alone and outcast. The irony is however you feel happier in your solitude because you’re authentic and those that are close to you are truly friends and family who see the real you. To wear the mask is to be among the majority but an empty shell within.
Truly a sad song. A song about how Joker is just an empty shell, made only to make friends happy during tough times. He doesn't have a personality he switches between a big brother to a friend, to a patient, to a student, to a study partner, to hero, to evrything. This song reflects jokers inner heart. Being dark on the inside. This song makes me want joker to have a palace, like a puppet show in where he constantly switches roles
This doesn't make any sense and it not what the song meant to be, if u think joker doesn't have a personality u failed to understand anything joker have plenty of personality, he is cocky and witty and just love to make jokes, he wasn't forced to do anything, he wanted to do those things it why he got falsely accused for trying to do the right thing and get still believe he wasn't wrong when he awaken to his persona, and joker can't have a palace cuz palace only works if u have a strong DISTORTED desires, u desires have to be distorted good or bad
@@john_7000 also in the game Mona tells you that if you've awakened a persona then you can't have a shadow bc in order to get a persona you have to quell your inner shadow and show complete control over your emotions, meaning you can't lose yourself enough to get distorted.
“We all wear a mask, be it on our faces, or our hearts. The few who’ve learned to not hide themselves, are the ones we know in the stories of Legends.” -Me, apparently, or maybe some random poet
To people who want to traduce the lyrics : Where have you been Been searching all along Came facing twilight on and on Without a clue Without a sign Without a grasping yet The real question to be asked Where have i been I'm a shapeshifter At Poe's masquerade Hiding both face and mind All free for you to draw I'm a shapeshifter What else should i be ? Please don't take off my mask Revealing dark Moments of calm Nothing left to be found A miror right in front of me That where i found An empty glass Reflecting the sad truth It's telling words not to be told I need the mask I'm a shapeshifter At Poe's masquerade Hiding both face and mind All free for you to draw I'm a shapeshifter Chained down to my core Please don't take off my mask My place to hide I can't tell you How to see me Just a cage off bones There's nothing inside Will it unleach me ? Burning down the walls Is there a way For me to break I'm a shapeshifter At Poe's masquerade Hiding both face and mind All free for you to draw I'm a shapeshifter Have no face to show Please don't take off my mask My disguise
I bought this game for my older (by a couple of years) sister in 2019, and gave her the receipt with it, “just in case you hate it and wanna trade it”. I knew the major plot beats of P5, but never sat down and watched someone play it from start to finish. I was sure she would get about five hours into it, hate it, and trade it out. She’s not really an “anime” person, but she likes Kingdom Hearts and Skyrim, so I knew she would at least be familiar with RPGs, and wouldn’t be too shocked by the anime aesthetics. She completed the game. Start to finish. Six times. She was starting her seventh play through when Royal finally dropped (which I pre-ordered for her). It’s one of her absolute favorite games, and it was some of the best bonding time we’ve had in years. At one point, during one of her many run throughs of Vanilla, she randomly said “thank you for buying me this game”. She currently just started up Strikers, and she likes it a ton so far. I’m so *so* glad I went with my gut and got it for her.
Here's my interpretation of the lyrics: "Where have you been? Been searching all along, came facing twilight on and on, without a clue. Without the sign, without a grasping yet. The real question to be asked, is where have I been?" I think that this isn't a person on person interaction, like a worried mother or torn lover, but rather persona user to persona. All of the party members were in a situation where they couldn't fight back against an adult with power, only to find their vengeance in the Metaverse. Thus, the persona user is asking their persona where they've been all this time, and where they were without it. "I'm a shapeshifter, at Poe's masquerade, hiding both face and mind, all free for you to draw. I'm a shapeshifter, what else could I be? Please don't take off my mask, revealing dark." This most likely is referring to Joker and Persona 5's artstyle. Joker can change personas, and wears a masquerade mask. Everything in Persona 5 looks like it's been drawn, thus "all free for you to draw." Joker also stays silent and lowkey, even at the start of the game when he's garnering attention. In the Metaverse though, he goes buck wild with Personas and a pistol and a knife. I believe that asking not to remove his mask is his desire to be unseen, without his mask he would be revealed. "Moments of calm. Nothing left to be found. A mirror right in front or me, that's where I find... An empty glass, reflecting the sad truth. Telling words not to be told, I need the mask." I think this represents the end game, when there are no more palaces and you can't explore Mementos. None of them want to realize that they'll never explore the Metaverse ever again, so they just don't think about it. However, looking in the mirror reminds them of the Metaverse them, leaving them yearning for their mask. "I'm a shapeshifter, at Poe's masquerade, hiding both face and mind, all free for you to draw. I'm a shapeshifter, chained down to my core. Please don't take off my mask, my place to hide." So what's new here. Chained down to my core represents the chains that bound everyone's Personas, and how Joker can only break them after realizing the true power of The Fool (Joker's card.) My place to hide means the Metaverse, and how they can take action in the Metaverse against people. That is their safe space. "I can't tell you how to see me. Just a cage of bones with nothing inside. Will it unleash me? Burning down the walls? Is there a way, for me to break?" Okay, this maaaay be a stretch. But I think this is a Persona talking. I can't tell you how to see me is obvious. You can't see someone's Persona unless you're in the Metaverse, and the Phantom Thieves can't say anything about the Metaverse or they'd be caught. Unleash and burning the walls is also pretty self-explanatory. You unleash personas, and they have that blue fire game going on. To break? I don't know. I do know that it is referenced in all the other songs (Rivers In The Desert, Wake Up Get Up Get Out There, Life Will Change, etc.,) as breaking. Maybe to break the chains that are at their core? I dunno. Nothing but a cage of bones though... Do Personas have ghost bones in their ghost bodies? Probably. Personas are empty without someone to use them. Finally... "I'm a shapeshifter, at Poe's masquerade. Hiding both face and mind, all free for you to draw. I'm a shapeshifter, have no face to show. Please don't take off my mask, my disguise." Ok so this is different. This is probably Akechi talking. He too has the power of the wildcard and can change Personas, and he uses a masquerade-ish red crow mask to hide Loki and his black mask. Or is it, that his face IS the mask? That his wild, psychotic form is his face that doesn't exist and his ace detective celebrity charm is a mask he wears to cover it all up? That can be interpreted both ways. ASDFGHJK That's it, thanks for reading because you have no choice you have to. TL;DR: I'm a shushublusdfghjkl, mjnhbgvfcd
As a person that feels like I'm constantly putting on masks to fit in with those around me, this song hits me deep. I don't even know if I have a "true self" anymore, or if all that's left is my masks. I'm nothing more than what I believe others wish to see in me, and the thought of not having that mask terrifies me...
You're indeed, still have it. The fact that you're still aware and concious about your mask is showing there's still the real you somewhere inside. You just stop paying attention to it and stop enjoy being yourself a little. It will still feel abstract of what your true self really is, but, the willingness to find and accept your true self is the key. You have to rediscover the reason why you wear a mask in the first place, in order to familiarized with your self pre-mask. It is scary to think that now you're so dependant with the mask, but believe me, by learning and letting yourself to be vulnerable to emotions will help you re-implanting your true self. The mask will sometimes still be around, however, you will never dependant to it anymore, you feel like you're strong enough to face any problems. Don't worry about whether or not you should be happy or sad too much! Being emotionally strong isn't equal to restrict your own emotions.
@@incogniftoar3943 The truth is, I'm absolutely terrified of people. I feel like I'm constantly being watched, and that other people are going to harm me if I don't do everything exactly right to placate them, and even then I feel there's more that I should be doing that I'm not aware of. Even in my own house, I have to keep my curtains and blinds drawn, and even then I still feel like I'm being watched through what small cracks remain. I feel like I'm not in control, like I'm just a passenger in this mind and body. I'm not in control of my thoughts, and I'm completely exhausted just forcing this body to do the bare minimum it needs to survive, relying on my caretakers to do all the heavy lifting. I can't remember the last time I actually felt... anything really. Not happy, sad, or even angry. I think I felt these things when I was a child, but now it's just... fear, exhaustion, and guilt for the things that others do for me. Even when my first cat unexpectedly died young when I was around 12 about ten years ago, I didn't feel anything at all. I knew I should've been sad and upset, but the feelings just... weren't there. I don't know who or what "I" am, or what "I" want. I don't think "I" have ever really wanted or aspired to anything... I've always just stood on the sidelines and put forth the minimum effort that I felt I could get away with without getting in too much trouble, disconnected from everyone and everything around me.
The way i see it all of us are always use mask, even when we think we are being genuine, that is just another mask from or vast or small collection, there is no "true self", because your true self is just a mask, think of it like batman: Bruce Wayne is the mask that allow's Batman's existence, but Batman himself uses a mask because he is one. We all just chose what mask to were to the ocassion.
I bought P5R for my birthday like a week ago, Platinumed the game and finally saw the true ending and I seriously regret not playing it sooner, the game was amazing and the soundtrack is still dominating what i listen to 11/10
relatable for those outcasts that hide behind a mask to always be safe and fit in with most ppl, while simultaneously looking for a way to break away from their persona

still the greatest sound piece meguro has made , and my favorite OST in all of atlus's games. Something about this song just gives me an overwhelming feeling of cozyness, relaxtion, and just content really, P5 is a very special game for me and my favorite of the 6 Persona games. Atlus, despite their bad side of executive decisions in games are masters in game development, they deserve every ounce of praise and recognition they're getting and I sure hope they never change their ways in the future
The best song ever made for a video game. Period. Persona 3 Reload i honestly like more overall as a soundtrack but this song is unmatched to this day... 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🔥
Wasnt really avid with drinking coffee until I played the game. The song really does make coffee better. I even make it so that I wake up earlier just to drink and chill to the song before going to work especially. Made my outlook more positive but theres also this bittersweet feel now that Ive finished the game. Not my first Atlus game but my first Persona. How Ive been missing! PS. When youre in that part of the game where the lyrics start playing for the first time had me in goosebumps
Neat thought experiment: Take these lyrics, and imagine how you could apply them to Joker/P5 protagonist. Imagine what these words mean for him with his personality and personal problems.
I was brought here by someone dear to me. Love the music, haunting! But I challenge those who do not know the poem "We Wear the Mask" by Paul Lawrence Dunbar, to look it up! Well done on th4e vid!
@@MyraRe yes you are right it does not fit the fast paced battles in the game and i only found out about persona because of SSBU and i was glad i got the dlc
I am absolutely amazed how long it took me to realize that this isn't an American singing. When I saw the lyrics, it finally dawned on me that she was singing with a Japanese accent. I don't know how I never noticed before. I will offer no explanation because honestly it would be too long for what it's worth, but just trust me when I say that I truly did not recognize her accent until recently. Her voice is crazy suave, and I wish that I knew more songs that sounded like this.
She does not sing in a Japanese accent. The singing/enunciation is very stylized. It's not uncommon to understand singers because many of them put their own flair into pronouncing things, often times for the sake of the song it self
Persona 5 introduced me to the entirety of Shin Megami Tensei and even though I have played quite a few other smt games (currently playing smt 4 and will play apocalypse after) persona 5 still holds a special place in my heart, it might be because it was my first but even if it wasn't I will still love it, finishing it made me feel like I was leaving behind real friends, and it sort of encouraged me to make friends. I know that probably sounds really cheesy but that's how I honestly feel about this game, from the confidants to the palace stories to the soundtrack, it's all amazing

Where Have You Been
Been Searching All Along

Without A Clue
Ah my ears are in peace
Here's my interpretation of the lyrics:
"Where have you been? Been searching all along, came facing twilight on and on, without a clue. Without the sign, without a grasping yet. The real question to be asked, is where have I been?"

Ooooooo! Looking cool Joker
Started playing Persona 5 and now I’m in love with this song
this song always puts me at ease❤️ Great work with the lyrics!
This is such a good song to listen too when you're on a long trip or during awful weather to calm your mind and put you at ease.
Such an incredible job, well done man and thanks for the lyrics
One of the greatest soundtracks I've ever heard in a video game.
I bought P5R for my birthday like a week ago, Platinumed the game and finally saw the true ending and I seriously regret not playing it sooner, the game was amazing and the soundtrack is still dominating what i listen to 11/10
it truly is an amazing experience
You didn't platinum P5R in a week mate unless you pulled multiple all nighters, if that was the case you needa get your life together mate
@@davidc. let my guy enjoy himself who are you too judge.
relatable for those outcasts that hide behind a mask to always be safe and fit in with most ppl, while simultaneously looking for a way to break away from their persona
🎉🎉😂❤
This song just brings off so much nostalgic. I watch my sister play this game and i just fell so Inlove with the story and the characters.
The song is so amazing it makes me wanna cry when I remember the game is over ;;
you can play royal
minicrit true but my wallet says *bet*
@@ursawarior4ever then you have to brace yourself to be more sad when you finished royal
They're coming out with Persona 5: scramble soon :D I think it's sequel
Ren Amamiya I s i m p *gets ready to cry*
This is one of those special games: you hear one single song on UA-cam and it's like "Welp, time for a new playthrough".
This song is sad is heck, it’s basically saying that the protagonist is just an empty shell without his mask
Where have you been?
Been searching all along
Came facing twilight on and on
Without a clue
Without a sign
Without grasping yet
The real question to be asked
Where have I been?
I'm a shape shifter
At Poe's masquerade
Hiding both face and mind
All free for you to draw
I'm a shape shifter
What else should I be?
Please don't take off my mask
Revealing dark
Moments of calm
Nothing left to be found
A mirror right in front of me
That's where I find
An empty glass
Reflecting the sad truth
It's telling words not to be told
I need the mask
I'm a shape shifter
At Poe's masquerade
Hiding both face and mind
All free for you to draw
I'm a shape shifter
Chained down to my core
Please don't take off my mask
My place to hide
I can't tell you
How to see me
Just a cage of bones
There's nothing inside
Will it unleash me?
Burning down the walls
Is there a way
For me to break?
I'm a shape shifter
At Poe's masquerade
Hiding both face and mind
All free for you to draw
I'm a shape shifter
Have no face to show
Please don't take off my mask
My disguise
I love that echo whenever she says hiding. It gives me chills.
This reminds me that life is worth living. You just gotta find the right path.
Ok I’ll see myself out so can I explore Za warudo

This is already this old, this is a actually kinda nostalgic, this song makes me happy and sad. unexplainable emotions…
Well done, really comfy video
still the greatest sound piece meguro has made , and my favorite OST in all of atlus's games.
reload’s soundtrack is a worse version of original persona 3’s
Wasnt really avid with drinking coffee until I played the game. The song really does make coffee better. I even make it so that I wake up earlier just to drink and chill to the song before going to work especially. Made my outlook more positive but theres also this bittersweet feel now that Ive finished the game. Not my first Atlus game but my first Persona. How Ive been missing!
PS. When youre in that part of the game where the lyrics start playing for the first time had me in goosebumps
that's great to hear persona 5 was my first too can't wait for 6 😇
2:05 everybody in 2020 before entering stores
Lmaooo 😂😂😂
mann 😂😭
I don't know the lyrics on my own so I just put random sentences instead of the actual lyrics and it still sounds good.thats how good this song is
God this game has one of the best soundtracks of all time. This song slaps so hard
Amazing song
Originally just wanted to test persona 5 cus i heard great things about it, i ended up playing for like 8 hours
Ahh you're back ❤
Neat thought experiment:
Take these lyrics, and imagine how you could apply them to Joker/P5 protagonist.
Imagine what these words mean for him with his personality and personal problems.
I would kill to replay this game for the first time again those were great times
I see that you're a man of culture
this is nostalgia right here
Ahh your back
Lovely song I love it 👍🏻❤️
I was brought here by someone dear to me. Love the music, haunting! But I challenge those who do not know the poem "We Wear the Mask" by Paul Lawrence Dunbar, to look it up! Well done on th4e vid!

The original version is definitely better than the sped up version in SSBU
Yeah but the original won't fit in SSBU
Raihan Ramadhana true but they should’ve at least put the original in the music section so that we could at least listen to it
@@MyraRe yes you are right it does not fit the fast paced battles in the game and i only found out about persona because of SSBU and i was glad i got the dlc
The smash bros version is good in its own way. For an action fighting game I think the smash version works very well.
"Maybe I should write something."
"Hey!"
"Mmmmhmmmm"
I am absolutely amazed how long it took me to realize that this isn't an American singing. When I saw the lyrics, it finally dawned on me that she was singing with a Japanese accent. I don't know how I never noticed before. I will offer no explanation because honestly it would be too long for what it's worth, but just trust me when I say that I truly did not recognize her accent until recently. Her voice is crazy suave, and I wish that I knew more songs that sounded like this.
You probably could find those songs if you...looked up the singer lol
She does not sing in a Japanese accent. The singing/enunciation is very stylized. It's not uncommon to understand singers because many of them put their own flair into pronouncing things, often times for the sake of the song it self
This video needs more views than it deserves
This is such a cosy song
I’m a shop shifterrrrrrr

Just discovered this game lmfao. Only got it bc of the sale, happy I did
*Ahh my old friends... I miss they...*
I listen to this when I wander around the city alone
Ah, your'e back
How I wish I can erase Persona 5 from my memories, so I can re-experience this gem!
Every time I listen to this all I can hear when it starts is “ah, your back”
As someone who plays VRC I cannot tell you how many times I heard this song but I finally found it HA
Mona: Go to sleep
Me: Ok, but ill just make a lockpick first
Mona: Lets not do that today
AWESOME!!!! THANK YOU!!
Music to my ears 😌
