Connect the laser detector to a system that'll detonate something like a firecracker when triggered...blow a wing off when you get hit lol
I was just coming to the comments to suggest that! They could use a model rocket igniter to light the fuse to the firecracker.
You need an arming switch between the firework and the system. The last thing you want is for it to go off in your hand. Take off, hit the arm switch and then battle.
Or a quick connect that disconnects wings, rudder, elevator and motor... It would be recoverable

... that's exactly what they were talking about doing at the end. Both the P-51 and the ME-262 will have a small amount of explosives onboard that will detonate if it is "shot down".

There was a little tank kit that my mom got me and my brother for Christmas one year, and they had lasers that had a reload time, the tank would light up and make an explosion noise when it was hit, and the first one hit 3 times would become inoperable. It was a lot of fun, we got creative with it and set up our living room and the adjoining dining room like battle fields, and I would go into enemy territory the first game, then he invade my base the next round, and so on.. it was a lot of fun, I actually wouldn't mind buying a new and improved version of that toy to use today, with my now not child brain, I could come up with some really cool base designs..
What would happen if you outfitted a couple monster planes with guns like what Stefan was firing- and having each plane have a dedicated pilot and a dedicated gunner? If the guns could swivel 360 degrees in addition to what it did in this video, then you could have some epic dogfights!

I think it would be so cool if you put 3 or 4 of these turrets on the battle ship and have a completely rc battle between the ship and the fighter plane
Mount a bunch... Put one at each of the anti aircraft gun locations
And turrets at the land
A company I used to work for did Jeff Dunham’s concert tour. He flew little light planes at the venues during his downtime.
You should do a version where instead of charges firing and destroying the plane, deploy a parachute, so that the plane can be shut off and mission killed, but not destroyed! @FliteTest

I remember when you did this years ago with that test product you were trying out. It is awesome to see that you guys have been able to optimise this so much since then.
Actually, this isn't that product. In fact, the development Flite Test did was completely independent of the ACE system. Neither of us were aware of the other's development. I must admit that I am a bit disappointed that the other system never made it. I always like to bounce ideas off of other developers to make things even better.
@@CAGreve1231 does it actually work in sun light reliably? I know ir systems for remote camera strobes don't work reliably in sunlight.

@@MeshJedi - Yes. There is a day mode specifically for daylight use.
@@ezrarichardson279 To be honest, I don't know what happened to the FT product. The ACE system took a little over 2 years to develop and patent.
i want to see an aimable laser cannon mounted on the side of an RC AC130 and have remote gunners shoot ground targets. maybe tanks or AA vehicles? now that would be some SICK FPV footage!

Oh yes but with a real gun as the 105 howitzer shooting blanks, laser as the 40mm beowulf, & the bb minigun as the 25mm gatling gun that needs a large powerful plane with a preety delicate weight balancing system

Fantastic! I ordered my very first Tx last week just so I could turn a Power Wheels Jeep Hurricane into an RC truck and eventually design a turret mounted Nerf Blaster to it. I have been watching FT vids for a year or so and finally decided to grab a Tx/Rx so I could build some cool projects. (BTW I picked up the TS16S Max, from Buddy RC after watching your reviews! Should be here in a few days then onto the project!) Great fun, FT team!

Unfortunately, even with the license, we are still second priority to licensed products, so we would have to transmit away from the wifi spectrum when flying on 5.8Ghz.

Wow, this is incredible. Looks like such a blast and yeah the battle settings are virtually limitless! One thing that you might wanna do is put the ground to air rotation on a "lazy Susan" type of base, the way you had it configured on the 1st gen model looks like it would be difficult to track evenly, parallel to the horizon. But man, well done! When it threw the plane out of trim, it kinda blew my mind, haha.
-Put the "hit" LED in visual sight of the fpv camera so you can see when you are hit.
-Put several systems on the battleship and have a bunch of people attacking it at the pond!

Another way to do a hit on the plane is a metal object that whacks into another metal object via a BIG spring on trigger.
The impact visually jolts the plane on trigger and also makes a loud crack sound. A motor pulls the spring back and releases it a few times a second.
It will only work on larger planes, since the system will need to have some weight to it.
You should build a plane that has a tail gunner for air to air combat. I was also thinking you should get a tiny smoke emitter or smoke bomb that goes off when you get hit.

I just built a huge RC plane. I’m only 13 and it flies amazing. You guys inspire me 🤩
That gun was on the edge of a second kill. Trim is taken half-way through the damage cycle. Another 2 seconds and you'd have seen that second LED light up. Mind you that controls return back to normal after a damage cycle, so if this happened your trim would return to normal.
The system is meant to simulate WWII dog fighting. The plane takes damage and you know you are flying a wounded bird. Since all planes are different, the handicap (hit time) and trim adjust (rate) are adjustable. For the big birds, you will want the trim (rate) almost all the way up. For small planes, you want it between 1/4 and 1/2 way turned up.
Such an awesome system dude.
Kinda want to say to you need to make a RC AA half track with that system. And keep that plane set up with it so when people stop by for events or w/e they can play with it.
There is a ground option in the works that works with this from Video Aerial Systems. They will have a tank that is automated!

Another great video. I play a lot of flight simulator xbox games. Like the idea of laser tag, but I think it would be cool if you could simulate damage. Smoke could be cool and light weight, but what if you used streamers that would release when hit via the laser. You could add enough streamers to increase drag so the planes wall out of the sky. Could be cool and mimic fire effects... Cool stuff guys. Flyte on.

My favorite toy was the RC airhog mini helicopters. They shot lasers as each other. When one would get hit it would spinn out of control and drop altitude. Youd get control after a short while but if you crash during that time you lose. Best thing ever
Ham radio excellent. I have been a ham for years. I have never used my privileges in RC. t I did build a dish antenna to extend my range so I could use the oscar satellite. I am considering coming to the Edgewater area for an RC Vacation. I don't know what airplane to bring maybe Timber x.
You should, it makes the experience even greater. Also look into the Part 107 license from the FAA for more access to higher altitudes, further distance, flying around sunset and more!

Add a bomb rack and re-enact a bombing run with interceptors, bombers escorts, and ground AA. That would be awesome
I feel like they should have switched the rotation axes for the turret. Horizontal/rotational should be the base rather than the vertical so you don't get those drastic diagonal movements.
Awesome...create a scenario where you have a battle ship with the laser gun and simulate an attack on the ship, have the ship's gun fire back see who gets more hits. And make the ship's gun follow the plane.
Great idea but not sure if this is the right time in our world to be mounting anything that shoots on RC vehicles. But the idea of making a ground course with gates that you have to shoot your way thru to win sounds pretty fun. But need some mounted on RC trucks to. Make it an all out war.

please help encourage more ham tech into the hobby to encourage companies to produce them. In “Old Flite Test,” you made videos about EZOSD and EZUHF, but they no longer in production for long range flights. You also talked about comparisons for different ham bands for range and different antennas in “old FliteTest” that was awesome.

This is awesome. I love to see new combat physics, but there’s one thing I miss: I need to see the tracers, the bullet holes in the tail and the wings being ripped off by some 20mm... the fuselage catching fire and the pilot ejecting, and parachuting into a tree where the Vietcong find him and take him prisoner in a POW, and after escaping he returns to an America that spits on the veterans. He goes mad in a little town where he is unrightfully arrested and basically massacres the entire states police force, while his ex-commander is trying to get to his head...
Consider a laser tag system to keep track of a life bar of some sort say 4 hits and the plane breaks in two unveiling a small but capable parachute to bring the plane safely down and ultimately ending the dog fight 😎👍🏽
Its cool you guys are doing the ham radio stuff.
They need to bring it up more often to help bring more awareness so people won’t be breaking the law without realizing. They didn’t even mention about getting the license for FPV.
Yeah. I got my license after seeing a disclaimer on fpv gear. Also it has added a really good rainy day hobbie I can do in the winter. I upgrade my ham license and do both hobbies

Take the battleship and mount those fpv laser guns to it. And then build a B-17/24/25/52 (something with gunports) the same scale as the ME262 or P51 and mount a bunch of the lasers in the gun ports. Then get everyone together for an EPIC battle!!! Everyone with theyre own gun (laser) with fpv... 1 pilot for the boat and 1 for the plane, 5 or 10 friends to have fun with at the same time🙂👍 #teamairplane
