This is a wonderful channel. I love your photography and you way of teaching.
Martin - suns out guns out . Love it !
Sir, thank you for your kindness and the comprehensive way of teaching.
Thank Mr Henson for sharing your passion and your know how with new "old" ablosute beginners...
Simply beautiful.
Thank you
Beautiful images you have captured, a Dali of sorts melting in black and white.
You’re an inspiration to us all Martin. Thank you 😊
I really enjoyed your video, I have a pinhole camera on order and waiting for its delivery. I am sixty seven years old and have loved photography as far back as I can remember. Like most I dropped film and transitioned to digital. I retired a couple of years and one day opened a drawer and there was my old AE1 Canon. I did some research and found that film was still available. Now the digital cameras are the ones in the drawer. Started developing my own black & white film. I have been shooting 35mm and medium format. Been wanting to try large format and pinhole looks like a good place to start. Thanks for inspiring me !
Thanks for another great video Martin. I’ve been a photographer for 50 years and shoot a lot of film but must admit I have never tried pinhole. You’ve motivated me to try it! 👍
Give it a go, nothing to lose all to gain
Thank you, Martin. I have been watching your videos for quite a while. They are very informative, honest, and inspiring. I have learned so much about film photography and pinhole photography from you. Thank you, sir. I started repairing old cameras thanks to you. I love it. It is a rewarding hobby. :)
No idea why UA-cam recommended this to me. Maybe it's because I translate for the Budapest Museum of Ethnography and lately I've been researching photography terminology for one of their new exhibitions. Anyway, whatever the Interwebs were thinking, I'm grateful, because this was immensely enjoyable. It was especially gratifying to witness the marriage of modern techology (phone apps, UA-cam content creation) with historical technology. I wonder if it would be hard to get a pinhole camera here in Italy? I made one once in elementary school out of a cardboard box and I might even still have the pictures I took with it. In any case, this has certainly got me thinking...
Great channel 👍👍👍
you've convinced me, couldn't make up my mind 6x17 or 4x5. i'll do a blend of film and paper negatives. thank you for this
incredible images by the way, put my imagination in high gear
Wonderful video by a wonderful photographer. Thank you Martin. You're a good egg!
Martin, danke Ihnen für das Video! Ich wünshe Ihnen Gesundheit.
Such fun. Thanks Martin.
You have inspired me Martin.
Nice images Martin and quite creative.
Beautiful !! Congratulations.
Martin thank you so much for putting your videos up on UA-cam, I've now bought my first film camera after seeing your videos as I feel digital is too easy even though I've always shot in manual mode, somehow putting so much technology into a camera seems to remove the fun of actually taking a photograph. I'm looking forward to learning how to develope and print using chemicals.
film photography will give you more depth in your photographs, digital is very flat and film is more fun
Martin, Your videos are a pleasure to watch and an inspiration for photographic experimentation. Thanks.
Nice pictures! As always! Thanks for all the effort you put in to let us learn from your large knowledge in analog photography. I specially like your episodes about pinhole as well as the very old cameras. In fact they arroused my interrest in this genre. Recently someone donated me an old Agfa Clack. I thought it was broken, as the lens was missing. Took me a moment to realise - its a converted pinhole camera. So cool. According to a pinhole calculator app, its focal distance is about 2mm short for optimal "sharpness", so I made a plan to extend it and as well added a holder to fit yellow filters. Eager to load my first film and take my first pinhole pictures, needless to talk about my first analog film development. :-). All this as a result of your very educational videos from which I learn a lot. Thank you!
Glad you enjoy them
Excellent definitely inspiring!
Hello Martin!! Thank you for another wonderful and inspiring presentation!!
Very cool image of the clock "suspended" in the garden...really interesting concept. I've got an ONDU 6x12 pinhole...I'm going to get that back out and try some shots similar to yours with it in interesting positions within vegetation....
Thank you and looking forward to the next one!!
CC
Do it and you will be surprised , thanks
Great video and results with the zero 45. I enjoy these shorter vids as well 😊

Thank you for watching it
Nice work as always Martin! You are certainly helping and inspiring us with B&W film photography!
Thanks very much
Such fantastic photographs!
Glad you liked them, thanks
Nice video! One of your previous videos on pinhole photography inspired me to build a pinhole camera of a similar design to the Zero 45out of some scraps of mesquite wood that I had. I opted for a 50mm focal length. It came out beautifully and I have had great time using it. Thanks!
Thats great to know
I loved the video and I love you pictures in general. Truly inspirational!
Thanks
it is beautiful
Thank you for sharing your work with us. I’m coming back to photography after a long absence and I’m looking forward to experimenting with my several Zero Image cameras. Thanks for the inspiration!

Inspiring - as alway...
Thank you
Great images Martin. Very interesting video and thanks for the inspiration.
In the first image, you can just see your reflection but I find that adds to the interest of the picture. Perfect imperfection I think they call it 😊
Yes your right I didnt see it until you pointed it out
So much to learn from you, Martin. A big thank you.
Your welcome
The first one 😍
Me too, the second is OK ishhh
Amazing
Thanks
Thanks again Martin for your expertise and insight. Love shooting film and own a few film cameras but also love the simplicity and freedom of a pinhole camera. I have a homemade one with 55mm focal length and 0.3mm PH. Works quite well. For exposure have you considered using the 'Pinhole Assist' app on the phone. It has 257 camera presets/110 film stocks loaded and calculates exposure with allowance for reciprocity all built in. Because its a phone app it only does reflective measurements but I've found it to be pretty spot-on for exposure (and I use Fomapan which is a bugger for reciprocity failure). Can't remember what it cost, if anything, but wouldn't be exorbitant. Cheers from Australia and keep up the good work.
Thanks Martin. I always enjoy watching your videos very much. They motivate me to go out and be more creative!
Glad to hear that 🙂
Your channel is a marvel and always inspiring! Pinhole has perfect geometric projection, so straight lines *always* remain straight - without expensive and heavy glass 😁. And with a range of pinholes of optimized size I can use a wide variety of "focal" lengths in a very small and lightweight package (for me it is 65 to 150 mm on 4x5 with 6 pinholes).
thanks
It’s very inspiring…. Never knew pin hole camera can produce that good pictures… thank you
There surprisingly good image makers
I have been wanting to do some pinhole so this came at a great time. Great inspiration. Gave me a great idea to try that is kind of related to what you have done. Love your channel.
Thanks for commenting
Thank you for another great video. You keep film alive.
I hope I help it
Wonderful, Martin. As always!
Thank you
Loved this video, Martin. Have you ever thought of using a pinhole with Tin type plate. 😊
Yea I have and one day hope to try it
Great work Martin. Thanks for sharing your process and knowledge.
Your welcome
Always enjoy your videos. Thanks so much for posting. They’re inspirational to say the least!
Thank s
Thank you so much! Very inspiring as usual! Looking forward to your next video.
Glad to hear
Great results as usual Martin. Did you do anything for WPP day?
Awesome results Martin, the first frame is a cracker. I'm seriously fancying a try at pinhole photography thanks for the inspiration. From what I understand, and I'm probably wrong here but even though you don't monetise your channel UA-cam does so they're making brass off your efforts, I didn't want to monetise my channel as I hate ads with a passion, but figured the coin is better in my pocket. To be fair I'd make more money selling my arse in Armley nick, but bugger that lark.
Try it I am sure you will enjoy it, thanks
@@martinhensonphotography will do mate cheers
Martin my first photo was a pinhole done with an oatmeal box at a summer art camp :) We used photo paper rather than film
Is a great way of making images
I've got one of these Zero Image cameras as well and theya are brilliant. I enjoyed much more this video because was shorter than you normally do...when you upload a 30 min+ video I have to play back at 1.75x speed because is too long
Agree, they are to long and will start to do shorter ones, thanks for your feedback
Agree, Martin. I started with experimenting pinhole photography last year and I enjoy it so much as a medium. I've used film for such a long time, but I always felt there was something visually I wasn't quite getting - pinhole photography filled that.
One question I do have is on using red filters. That's the next one I want to use. Where should I start and how will that affect my exposure times?
You will need to know the filters filter factor, red filters are around 3 stops, so If your using a 400 film speed meter at 3 stops less say 50iso , it will of cause increase exposure times
Just thinking about getting a pinhole camera. Is there a beginner option you'd recommend? Also, have you done video on developing and printing pinhole pictures. I developed/printed B&W film years ago in high school ('80), but I am a complete beginner to this pinhole camera realm. Thank you.
So, 4X5 @ 25mm - is that equivalent to 7mm on a 135 film???
