Best YouTube Light? The amaran COB 60x S

I recently picked up the new amaran COB 60x S and let tell you, this is the little light that could AND packs a punch above it's weight class. The amaran COB 60x and 60d came out last year but this year they have an upgrade improving its color accuracy.

Thank you bro, great video. I am thinking about this light. One thing you could have shown would be the 20-40-60-80-100% brightness levels when you use it as key light - so we could see the difference and see if it can be used as key light.

I've just got 2 60x (not realising the S version it out, but not heartbroken about it) - really excited to use them in action at weddings and for corporate work (hopefully perfect rim and background lights!).

Thanks for your review! Can you comment further on the fan noise? The previous (non-"S") model had audible noise even from a distance, so I'd be interested in knowing how the new ones are doing.

Hi thanks for the nice Video - I’m wondering if the 60 w is enough for doing inside portrait photography with continuous lighting together with a with soft box as key light. I saw a video from Peter Hurley and now I’m thinking if continuous lighting could improve my photography. I like the compact size and the fact that it is usable anywhere due to the battery option. Would this work for product photography? I tend to photograph used things like furniture/tech/toys and clothes for resale. Would this work for that despite cramped space?

I’ve tried this for product photography and it’s decent. It’s a “good enough” for a hybrid but for photography I’d recommend a dedicated flash or two.

fan noise?

Fan noise is noticeable but not really loud. If you are doing a UA-cam talking head, you might hear it in editing but if you put music and turn on voice isolation, the fan noise disappears. Its just another step in post production. Thats the downside. But the light quality is beautiful.
