Keeping jeepney sign board making alive | Common Room PH

For this Meet the Makers episode, we get to know Kuya Edwin Tayao, one of the few jeepney artists left who’s keeping jeepney sign board making alive. A skill he learned from his father, himself a jeepney signage artist, Kuya Edwin takes pride in his craft-which is not just found in jeepneys these days, but in Common Room stores as well. But it’s his deep gratitude for his father, who stuck by him, that fuels his passion for creating the sign boards, a recognizable symbol for the Philippine jeepney.
Common Room PH is a collaborative space for artists and makers in the Philippines. Our physical stores provide a venue for local creatives to showcase their handcrafted products and original artworks. Our web store and digital platform on UA-cam enable our community to reach more, not only through their products, but also through their stories.
