She was a domestic helper who didn't get paid. They didn't adopt her because they wanted a new child to nurture and love. They wanted free labor from a minor and in return, her adopted parents would just give her some food and shelter.

My neighbors shouts at their kids all the time and really wanted to talk to them about how they treat the kids but no one does that and no one would encourage that here. On the internet they even glamorize like how typical asian or filipino mom does. How their flying off their slippers on their kids as part of discipline. I have the same problem with my mom and dad as a kid. As the youngest in the family i have to give respect to my sister no matter what even though she’s clearly physically abusive.

Same I literally grew up hearing very young children next door being beaten and its so heartbreaking to hear them scream "enough" or "just kill me mom" most parents here have anger issues and are abusive. And then after the beating they will guilt trip these babies and would talk them down about how they're beaten because they're loved. I mean if you can sit and talk to your child in the first place why the need for beating? Bella was from the province but here in the slums of Metro Manila its so common to hear kids being abused and old parents being attacked by their adult children. So many times I told my mom how its heartbreaking but of course no one would interfere the most they can do is treat this as a juicy gossip. Most moms wont meddle with other moms because almost all of them do the same so they cant really talk.

Some people ask why she acts like a child sometimes. And the answer is: she never had a childhood. It’s a thing called Age Regression. It’s when you have been traumatized at a young age, and use your inner child to try an cope. Not everyone uses it, some are just awful, or view themselves as grown adults even if they aren’t. I personally do what she does, and majority of the time I don’t even mean to do it. And sometimes she’s just doing a anime thing, gotta know the difference!

my uncle got transfered to another city and we all had to follow him they told our relatives they would send me to good school, but when we reach the new city I was abused and used as their maid and no school for me. I would wake up before them and prepare their breakfast and uniforms, and then drop them to school and when i get back I had to clean the house and cook lunch and do laundry and then pick them up from school. Bella, you were abused in the exact same ways as me, it was shocking to hear it coming from someone else and also kind of a relief that someone else knows/understands what that is like. Although I wish nobody ever understood, because it just shouldn't happen...
I was annoyed that the interviewer kept thinking her situation was *because* of being in the Philippines. Like no dude, it was *because* someone decided to be abusive.
The thing I will say about international differences is that after being active duty military fir 10 years and serving worldwide, I would regularly see men do *exactly* what her step dad did. They specifically choose places with cultural differences where women are less supported to speak up or have financial options. So the women are in a situation where silence=survival from having food, shelter, etc. And the man in power will abuse and prevent her from helping herself or her kids, so her way to cope is to let it happen. Not that that's an excuse, just saying that abusers look for people (in thier own country or abroad) where a woman is in a severe disadvantage to stand up to him.

I really relate to this. My situation wasn't as bad because I wasn't forced to do manual labor like that but I was singled out by my father and step mother. I have no contact with them now and they aren't allowed around my children.

No this is abuse, period. That man is a white American man and even though he didn't raise his kids there, he knew that treating your kids that way is bad because he stopped being as harsh when they had to move back to America. There is o such thing as mind your own business in the Philippines unless the subject is a strong, terrible family or an American (which seemed awkward to approach). Everyone is so chismosa and pakeelamera, but they really do care. Also if you're living in a farmland, a neighbor will just appear on your yard with a bowl of their viand (just a normal sharing thing). We moved may 4x times already and that's true to every place we moved to.
I lived alone in our house in 2019 to mid 2020. My neighbors who are not my family nor close friend sometimes approach me and say if I'm short with money, I can tell them. A lady said whenever I feel anything strange at night, call her right away and she would be sleeping nearthe sala of their house. An old granda also put their grocery store store barriers on our gate, adding extra hight to my fence.
Now I lived in an apartmend and working on a graveyard shift. Neighbors, who I really don't know sometimes give small talks with 'take care' whenever I leave the apartment.
Bella's Amercan step dad is an exceptional case.

This reminds me of Jordan Turpin. The horrors and abuse she and her siblings endured. They also had to save themselves, and nobody spoke up or did anything to help them. I hope they are OK and can overcome their abuse.

This is literally NOWHERE near that. Jordan Turpin and her siblings were starved, not allowed to shower, chained to their beds, etc. Bella was making this shit on the spot and it’s so obvious. Don’t disrespect jordans story like this.

    • @11cylynt11

@cmitch5598 I'm aware of what happened to Jordan Turpin and her siblings. I also know that abuse is abuse. I'm not going to discredit or downplay someone else's abuse because they didn't suffer as bad as others.
What kind of heartless person would say such things. That's like telling someone who was tortured for 30 days straight, "Hey, you were only tortured for 30 days. This other person was tortured for 90 days straight. So suck it up and stop making things up!"
What proof do you have that Bella is faking this? I, unlike you, believe victims of abuse when they've told me they've been abused. It's people like you, who discredit people who've been abused, that allow victims to continue to be abused. Because, if a victim were to trust you enough to tell you they've been abused, you may reply, "well that's not as bad as what Jordan Turpin went through, stop lying."😑
I find it hard to believe that you are that heartless. Do better, and believe victims of abuse. Do better, to stop abuse in any and all forms. Regardless of whether you think their abuse is severe enough. You should still care and stop it no matter the degree of abuse that person has endured. No one deserves to be abused in any way, for any amount of time. Abuse is abuse and we should stop all types of abuse.

@@11cylynt11 Jordan Turpins case was one of the worst cases of all time. You cannot compare her situation to Bella’s. Bella’s is trivial in comparison. Jordan turpins parents are locked away for a very, very long time. Bella didn’t have to make a legitimate escape where the cops had to go in and save her to where she was on the brink of dying from starvation. Also Bella’s parents aren’t locked away for a long long time. Look at the obvious differences and think about what you just said. It’s disgusting that you would even compare the two situations. Again Jordan Turpin and her siblings were chained to their beds on the brink of starvation, couldn’t shower for a years length at a time, weren’t allowed to go to school, etc. Jordan Turpin literally had to escape her room and ran out onto the street with a phone to call 911. She couldn’t even read the street signs because she wasn’t developed enough at her age, due to the no school and no leaving the house, no actual education thing. Bella didn’t call 911, wasn’t on the brink of death, she went to school, had friends, could shower it just had to be at night, her parents weren’t even arrested, the list goes on and the fuck on and on. So please think before you say something so outlandishly stupid and incorrect. Now Bella sounded like a textbook pathological liar. Ethan basically gave her a story line and she just agreed with whatever he spewed out and ran with. Even IF she was telling the truth, don’t ever compare Jordan turpins sitaution to Bella’s. I’m not saying that because her abuse (if true) is okay, but what I am saying is that you can’t even compare the two. There is validity in every abuse case, HOWEVER, there is also different levels of severity. So let’s take that into consideration before saying something so extremely ignorant.

    • @11cylynt11
      @11cylynt11 5 місяців тому

@cmitch5598 So you think it's ok to discredit and downplay a victim of abuse because they weren't as abused as Jordin Turpin and her siblings? Abuse is abuse. The point is that they were abused and need help.
I know of all the things you mentioned about Jordin Turpin. I also follow her social media account. She is a kind and caring person. Based on what I've seen in her social media posts, I think Jordan would show sympathy toward Bella and do whatever she can to help any victim of abuse, regardless of the severity of the abuse.
I said, "Stop abuse in any and all forms."
I said, "believe victims of abuse when they've told you they've been abused."
I said, "No one deserves to be abused in any way, for any amount of time. Abuse is abuse, and we should stop all types of abuse."
If you think these statements are "stupid" and "ignorant," then you are the problem.
Also, you gave no proof that Bella is lying. You are simply a heartless troll. And I will not be feeding the trolls anymore. I've said what I had to say. And I'm done interacting with heartless trolls like you. Grow up and learn to have sympathy for any and all victims of abuse.

I’m Filipino and it’s true that people here “respect” how other families raise their kids unless they see actual abuse in front of them, then they’ll step in. Oftentimes, people will help in subtle ways like giving the kids food / clothes. My mom and I do it for the kids next door who have an alcoholic father as their solo parent. Bella’s case is just an American taking advantage of a Filipino woman’s and children’s vulnerability. Period.

@@martinaasta since she said she lives in a farm, there will not be alot of action if the teacher reported it to local authorities, unless the teacher is wiling to file a case at the court of appeals, after she reported it to local authorities and the white father acts like everything's fine... It would only get worse for Bella.
The Teacher is probably poor aswell a court case is pretty expensive, and when your enemy is a white foreigner who has lots of money you'd be scared.
Bella said her house had 7 rooms with an AC on his father's room. That would mean they're considered rich there during that time especially in a farm village.
People would assume the people and children living there would be well off.
I live in a wooden house in the center of our municipality we have 2 rooms 1 room for my uncle and 1 room for me, my sister and my mother, my father sleeps in the living room, and we have AC so we're considered as middle class.
I just like to say that try to look at it in the perspective of a teacher whose not paid alot, and has to work extra jobs... My mother during that time in the country same timeline as Bella's time collects coins from each test paper she gives during exam and uses that to buy me milk as a baby. do you think a teacher would do something that can probably cost her something when she's already quite distraught by her situation?

In my experience this is not just in the Philippines, it's also happening in other asian countries, asian women are usually quiet when the man of the house decides because they're the one who makes money and the wife is afraid of making him upset because she doesn't know how to support the family if he won't provide you $bucks but it's different now and thank God for that!!
