Can you tell us how the adapters were made(schematic wiring) and Give links to each plug at Digikey? And is that just a regular phone cord, if not how was it made?
Yeah. Someone I know came up with a pair of these as a spare and I made the adapters to make them plug in as a remote. The buttons are often wore out on various Carrier units we work on be it a Chiller or a RTU etc and make it difficult to reset the unit or read the alarms. I keep this for such an occasion.
This is genius and a great tool to have especially when you don't wanna buy the made one for like $1000 bucks. I have a spare board and would also like to convert this into a tool that I can keep for future jobs. Can please you upload a tutorial of your wiring to adapter technique? TIA
brother i am watching this video and love it, i looking at purchasing the comfort link navigator, which carries a high price tag. would you be able to share the wiring with us, i see others have asked as well. also how did you go about installing buttons on that controller? you soldier them in? i have 6 carrier units on my building and none of the buttons work on the controllers, units just over 2 years old, sucks.
It's been a while since I made this. From what I understand Carrier has a tactile button updated interface that should be out soon if not already. I saw an image of it like 5 years ago.
Carrier sells a hand held interface. And from what I hear it has extra features. But that costs $1k This was just a DIY making one of these spare units into a remote mount for when I work on a Carrier with a bad one.
@@hackfreehvac just yesterday I commissioned a new chiller and the buttons were already hard to press and I have alot of others with dead buttons so this hack might be my life saver, clients don't care about my struggles once I get the unit up and running 🤣 so I think I much rather try your repair than buy the one from carrier
Is there a link to where you did the wiring to pone jack. I swapped out buttons and installed mine in a grassland time clock box. But trying to find wiring
I had to figure it out the hard way. I followed the traces to the LEN port in the Carrier RTU. Then I made my adapter to put them to the flat 6 pin connector on the marquee panel thing
Would you please let me know if I need to replace a new one of HMI display, can I just replace the new part on it or I have to load any firmware to the board CEPL130347-01?
Would you please let me know where you got the connection to the display the molex style 6pin? I know you said digikey but the part number would be awesome. I figured out the the wiring no problem just can't find the connector to the screen. @hackfreehvac
That is something someone would have to diagnose on site. Could be a bad MBB, but probably not if it works with everything else. COuld be a bad Scroll Protection Module. Or bad wiring etc.

Your such a HVAC nerd! Are we brothers? Lol I’m just like you! Take it home make it better and pray it’s working! Keep up the amazing work my friend!
Lol, thanks.
Did you every make a how to video or make a wiring diagram.
Is that more or less just a homemade accessory navigator display? (the handheld unit available from carrier, comes with thier screw chillers usually)

I'm trying to figure out the data format (byte by byte) of the RS232 to the controller. Tough.

Secure some magnets on it. Should be able to get a piece of scrap to make a back out of.

Where did you find the plug that connects to the marquee?
@@bago49 The new ones have the textile buttons now.
I don't know if you'll see them in stock yet but a carrier employee sent me photos of them.
@@jeremywallace4943 I bought the cable and connectors from DigiKey

If one of the controller is replaced does the new controller new to be programmed or is it just unplug the old install the new controller?
These are just a user interface so it's just plug and play.
The unit programming is in the MBB
@@hackfreehvac Thanks for the info 👍
