Search Mantis Q Battery Adapter on Ebay to buy the adapter that comes with the compass relocation adapter and the screw location guide shown in this video.
The screw location guide is used to help you organise and keep track of the 10 screws that need to be removed to install the compass relocation adapter.
The compass relocator adapter eliminates the compass errors with the stock configured Mantis Q. I recommend you install the compass relocation adapter prior to using the alternative battery adapter that I designed and sell on Ebay.
The main issue found when first trying to use alternative batteries with the Mantis was magnetic interference warnings, because the compass is located so close to the electrical interference of the drone. The solution to the magnetic interference, is to relocate the compass module to the outside of the Mantis.
The 3D printed battery adapter is very easy to use, why only a small amount of the video describes the battery adapter.
This video is more a how to install the compass adapter. Once the compass adapter is installed alternative batteries can be used without magnetic interference warnings. As a bonus when using stock batteries the amount of magnetic interference warnings is also reduced.
Since the Mantis had been prone to this magnetic interference issue since its first release.
For anyone not interested in using the $15 higher capacity batteries and only want to reduce the magnetic interference annoying errors on there Mantis. I also have just the compass relocation kit available on Ebay for $7.

I had actually cancelled the entire adapter. Due to risky of damaging an unrelated connector during the installation of the compass relocator.
But from comments on another video, for another battery adapter that I make, I am given an idea for how to eliminate the need to use the compass adapter at all.
The thing I need to test is.....
Using aluminum tape used for duct work, called aluminum duck tape, I want to try wrapping a lipo battery with this tape to reduce electrical interference. The only thing stopping me from testing this new idea right now is.... I already have the compass adapter installed and will need to remove it, to return the mantis back to stock. Then I can tape up a battery and test without the compass adapter. First problem is I have no time and to many other projects going on. I'll get to it eventually. But until then, everyone will just need to keep using factory batteries. Also, no guarantees the test will go good?

Either way I still want one but I sure dont have 3 or 4 hundred to put into it.

Sorry answer I gave up, it will only work for the 4 drones that have installed the compass adapter. (Mine and 3 other early testers)
I bought a completely different type of printer for better detail with the smaller parts. Made a completely different type of drawing for that printer. Printed some awesome quality cartridges that I was able to line the inside with foil to prevent electrical interference. And in the end I'm at the same place. Using the battery I designed it for.... It will not get the correct compass readings for flight, unless the compass adapter adapter is installed.
Since installing the compass adapter is so difficult, and the possibility of damaging the good module. I have thrown in the towel on the project. I now have I special printer occupying space and collecting dust. Was all still a good learning experience dispite all the cost of development.

Hi. Is arm replacement fairly easy on this drone? My rear left arm has cracked and bent after crash to the ground from tree branch fall and now it looks bad and I am afraid it is not gonna fly. But I am unsure if I should break the drone into pieces so I can put it back together after all?
Arm replacement is pretty easy, if you fallow this video it gets you close to doing it. But be aware the reason I decided to quit making the battery adapter is because during this compass install it is possible to damage the connector for the GPS module.

I have been working on a redesign.
Basically ready except the test flight.
I've been busy and also forgot.
Weather was great all last week and I missed it. Now raining today. Newest version will not need to have the compass relocated. Make sure to subscribe and select to get notifications. Once ready I'll post a new video with the new battery adapter.

It's too complicated for the end user to take apart there drone to install the needed compass adapter.
There is a company selling batteries on eBay where once the battery goes bad, I believe you can open there case and replace the battery with a commonly available battery.
if you check these comments at all, are you able to send me better pictures of the adapter front? you can never see it in the video. also, do you have the updated design? the one in the video is not the same as the one on thingiverse. thanks. the compass relocator isnt needed. it gives me no problems.

Anyway, I just checked thingiverse and all needed files are there.
I even have uploaded the compass adapter in another separate upload.
But if anyone is still interested in testing the battery adapter, I believe if you shield the battery with metal tape it should work without installing a compass adapter. I have not tested this and am only doing educated guessing. For the front of the adapter, you need to use the 2 smaller pieces. The one front piece needs to have the mini dean's connectors pressed into the square holes. The other small part goes on top last and the XT60 connector goes inside it.
@@amphibiousmotorcycle what about the connection to the drone? How did you do that? And from the video, you hooked the charging port on the side. That part wasn't in the file on thingiverse. That's why I asked about an updated file. Thanks for responding

Adapter no longer available. Is to risky installing the compass adapter, and it will not fly without installing the compass adapter first.

This is the reason I discontinued the item.
There is no way to use this without first installing the compass adapter.
But the killer is, when installing the compass adapter, there is a high probability that you will damage your GPS module.
The GPS module is located on the top under the front good area.
The GPS module has a wide connector that is difficult to disconnect but even more difficult to reconnect, without accidentally bending the tiny connecting pins.
Me and another both bent out pins, though we were lucky that we both found was to strengthen and correct the damage.
This started me on a mission to solve the issue and find a way to use this adapter without the need to install a compass adapter.
Even longer story.... I'll just say me and some great minds worked on it, had some promising solutions. In the end I can say for sure there is no way to make the battery or any other version of it work, without first installing the compass adapter.
Due to the risk of damaging a $75 part I have choose to not list the adapter on eBay.
When will you be selling these???
I am setting up a new printing system now, using laser resin printing. Along with I still need to test if it's aluminum casing will actually shield the electrical interference, so adding a compass kit will not be needed.
