My father farmed for over 60 years with Ford tractors. Today we still own and operate a 1965 model 5000 with loader, a 1971 model 4000 and a 1981 model 7600. We did sell the 7710, 8630 and two other 5000's. I would like to buy a Ford 3000 and a 4630 for daily farm work. While we did have bigger and newer tractors, our most faithful tractor has always been the 1965 model 5000. Sometimes, the bigger and newer tractors couldn't get a job done, but the old 1965 model 5000 would come to the rescue and get the job done with power to spare. There's something special under the hood of that tractor and if I had to keep only one tractor, that would be the one. My father also had a 4000 diesel from 1965 that was also quite a workhorse and my father has regretted trading it for a newer 5000 diesel that did not have enough power to get out of it's own way.
This is when you bought a tractor it lasted a lifetime and didn't break down. All hand built and it stayed to gather in the field. We still have models from the 60's that have no problems they run strong awesome tractor then and now this new stuff is nothing but junk.
