Hello! I can't believe I missed the other market bag in the book - I was just smitten with the wee one. I do love a tiny bag. The Searsport bag looks awesome and super useful. So many bags!
I'm watching this while knitting your mosaic market bag! I would ADORE a pattern for produce bags. Just small ones, ir a range of sizes!! I've been searching and there aren't many knit patterns. I'm not a fan of the look of the crocheted ones.
I think there is a requirement for market bags given the Zero Waste/Minimalist/Vegan trend which seems to be huge on YT at present , and the plastic bag free mode of shopping, but, I guess to get Vegans making them they will need to be in say a hemp or cotton yarn (anything animal free). Anyway, this may give you something to explore. I love these bags, Thanks from Australia 🐨👍🏼
The Ilene Bag (free pattern) on Ravelry starts with a rectangular base knit in stockinette, and then you pick up & knit stitches around the base in order to begin the mesh pattern. It is a good basic market bag pattern with a sturdy ribbed strap.

I love plant fiber based yarn so that is a great idea. And you are right, maybe they are coming back because of the new conscientiousness?

Market bags are actually fairly straight forward, fast projects. They typically use simple lace and are knit in the round so I would say go for it!
