    Would Rodman’s impact be greater or smaller if he played in todays game??
    NOTE: Just to be clear, the comparison at the end was simply intended to be a comparison in play style, for people who never got to see Rodman play. Of course Draymond is no where near Rodman's talent and greatness. If you think theres a more comparable modern player in terms of play style, let me know in the comments.

      Bruh it's weird that the pistons are the team that be having most of the underrated players. Isaiah Thomas, Dennis Rodman, Ben Wallace, Chauncey Billups, grant hill, etc.

    • @curiouschameleon7960
      @curiouschameleon7960 5 років тому +19

      As much as I hate to say it, but his impact would be smaller because the league now has gone 'soft.'
      The league will no longer allow his physical defense and the game truly has changed from a run and gun from 3. Thus affecting his rebound numbers and possibly have some minor difficulty guarding shooters especially stretch bigs. And he's also a liability on offense in a offense heavy system nowadays

    • @Terror832
      @Terror832 5 років тому +9

      I see his impact being Tony Allen/Ben Wallace-esque. His defense and hustle is always needed for any team but I feel he would a liability on offense and teams would target him and leave him on an island to make a play. Also his trolling was Joel Embiid/Pat Beverley x10000000. He could definitely be one of the league leaders in technical fouls which is a shame.

    Rodman is the best individual defender I've ever seen! He literally could guard 1-5 and did it consistently! He is also the best rebounder I've ever seen! Thank you for mentioning the 60s-70s era. They took/missed way more shots back then thus inflated rebounding numbers. Guys averaged 20+ rebounds per game but those numbers are skewed. Rodman was so athletic that if he played back then, he might have averaged 25-30 rebounds per game! Rodman would be an asset in any era. But today's game, with the emphasis on stretch 4s/5s I'm not sure teams would utilize a player like Rodman? Me personally, I'd take him on my team any day, any era. His defense and rebounding were AMAZING! Let's not forget about his hustle and heart! Dude left it all on the floor, night in and night out! Personally I think Rodman was the perfect teammate if you have other superstars. He didn't care about scoring but could if he wanted to. He was happy to do the dirty work, get an offensive board and kick it back out so his teammates could score the points. Rodman was and always will be one of my favorite players ever! If you didn't see him play, do yourself a favor and pull up some highlights!

      Rodman probably wouldn't play today. First, he's way too much of an offensive liability. Second, there's no way someone that's 6'7" 210 pounds would be able to withstand the physical punishment he'd recieve playing power forward. Even if you think he could, he'd be on the perimeter a ton (a lot of 4's are stretch these days) negating one of the very reasons you think he's valuable (rebounding.) You can quote Draymond all you want but he's already an exception to the rule at 6'7" 230, (20 pounds is a big difference) isn't an offensive liability, and is one of the best passing power forwards in the league. I doubt Rodman would make the cut.

      @NunoLima1337 5 років тому +1

      Agreed. And speculation about a 7 foot tall Rodman to compare with Shaq or Mutombo makes no sense, as his fitness and agility would change as well.
      Rodman was so focused on defense that he looked like he didn't care about the team strategy or his FT shooting. I don't know how this would be acceptable in a more competitive, even more professional league as is today's.

  • @dkiperman

    I think what should have also been mentioned was how great Rodman was at drawing fouls. He would get into his opponents heads and would frequently get them to get into foul trouble or even foul out. It's details like that that could make a big difference down the stretch in big games. Rodman was unbelievable at that.

    • @TheIcemanthomas
      @TheIcemanthomas 5 років тому

      he is. Yall gotta show dray respect. There style of play is very similar. No one said Draymond is as good as rodmans but their roles and playstyles are very similar. Undersized, long, hustle players, elite and versatile defenders, able to guard atleast 4 positions ( 5 in rodmans case. Rodmans A better rebounder, drays a better scorer. But their impacts go beyond numbers. U dont have to like Draymond but hes earned his place. He put in the work to get where he is.

      @@raylynch7412 so because I'm not completely biased like u I'm a bandwagon? First off u dont know how old I am so dont assume. Give respect and u get respect. Secondly, I'm a former college athlete and future basket coach so I know my xs and os as well as anyone. A real student of the game, not just ur average everyday fan. I live and breath this game. 3rd, I gave u a complety credible breakdown to explain the similarities and differences of two very similar styles players and all u had to offer to the conversation was disrespect and disregard. Dont come at me as if u know something with an idiotic reply like that. I'm disappointed. Try again. Come back with a real argument or vacate the premises.

      @@raylynch7412 And two eras are absolutely comparable. Styles of play translate to any era. The intangibles of those era may be different, bit the skillsets are all the same. Guys shots assisted, and rebounded back thenx and they do the same now. As long as those key components are around, ANY skillset from ANY era is comparable to another. How tough someone was has nothing to do with if his playstyle is similar to another players. Rodman and sraymond have similar skillsets. I can say the same about rodman and ben wallace. Rodman and Bill russel. Draymond and Bill Russell. Draymond and ben wallace, who he actually patterned his game after.

      I give U that
      I don’t know Ur age... Hopefully U get Ur Coach position soon.
      Green is nowhere near Rodman Skills set & U know it!
      Green is Lazy
      Plays off 2 Curry, Thompson & Durant
      Let’s not 4get Barnes 2.
      Green does not have That Motor!!
      Wallace had Rasheed & Prince
      When they left Detroit
      He hasn’t been the same
      Now The Legends of Game?
      Russell & Chamberlain
      The went through them!
      It was a big man @ that time
      Only a few Guards took on those Titans!
      Green will never make it through the 80’s or 90’s Game play
      Or maybe... like Corliss Williams or Witherspoon type
      Shit! Darwin Ham!

    Yep closest thing to the worm is draymond,but he isn't even comparable to the real thing,not even kobe-jordan close,that's what steve kerr trying to do with gsw is to build the 90s bulls 2.0
    Steph as himself
    Klay as jordan
    KD as pippen
    Draymond as rodman
    With any centre as the bulls hadn't got any remarkable centre
    He could only duplicate the 70+ wins but not as succesful as the dominating bulls lockdown championship team 🤷🏽‍♂️

    Dennis defense was scary, shutting down Shaq was a challenge no other player would think about doing but Dennis took it on and rose to the occasion I believe Dennis would average 23.4 rebounds a game in today's NBA given the fact the league isn't physical nor tough as it was in his playing days.
