I got Haunting Ground ,Xenosaga Episode 3 (I do have Episode 1 & 2) and others on other consoles. The one that is worth the most in my collection is the Last of Us Postpandemic Edition Complete with everything. Worth $1,207.28 according to Price Charting.
@@user-no5jz3vg3j at least one episode can be a remastered version but only if Bandai Namco willingly to remake their games like Baten Kaitos 1/2 got a remastered. I think remaking those games only happen if there's a promotion for the upcoming newer title.
Haunting ground was actually not bad. My brothers and I are huge horror fans in any form of entertainment. So that definitely was a reason we enjoyed it haha.
Xenosaga 2 killed any hopes for a longer series. It led to the devs wrapping the story up in just one more installment, and the last half feeling very rushed. Still breaks my heart, as episode 1 is an absolute joy to play.

I absolutely adored the .hack games on the PS2 back in the day. Very original concept + they came with an anime disc (per game). If you were big on MMO's back then, then these games were a must play.
@rhinox9292 yeah was zero marketing of the game that I'm aware of. I only found the game by chance, and quickly became quite obsessed with it for a good while. Be warned that getting through all 5 games requires a massive time investment.
Not really. It was hated for being a short episodic jrpg and not a MMORPG. Worked for sword art online but even the .hack anime is just cult status mostly remembered for it's amazing soundtrack. At no one said it sucked
@@chrisihrke1021 I didn't say it was a MMO. It was HEAVILY inspired by them. Totally a singleplayer only experience, but a simulation of a MMO with 100% NPCs no actual players. So if you were really into World of Warcraft or Everquest back when this series of games was released, then be right up your alley. If not though, then sure you'd not get it at all and likely not enjoy it.
I have a copy of Rule of Rose. It's weird and creepy, but it was difficult to play, not due to the gameplay itself, but it was difficult to figure out what to do next.
@@simeontrivium I would say it is, to a point. If a game is intentionally vague or misleading, that can be frustrating. When it comes to psychological thrillers, I'm more invested in how the imagery makes me feel.

Still own the original copies of Haunting Ground, Obscure and Kuon. Haunting Ground got my sister and I interested when we read the brief summary on the back of the game. When we had enough to buy it, we were surprised it was all about running away from the enemies. Needless to say, it got me hooked back in the day. I still remember that I've beaten and played through it countless of times. I could go through the game in no time and even managed to go through sections only meeting the stalker when the game forced them on me. Kuon is a game I got from the discount bin for 20,00 Euro. The German translation og the game was an absolute train wreck. At times, it was just word salad that barely made any sense. Not much stuck with me. Maybe I'll plug in my PS2 and give it another spin. Though I did like the unlckable Backgammon minigame. Rule of Rose is also a game I would have loved to play myself. Should have looked up a store that shipped to Germany, as PAL copies were only distribted in one or maybe two countries. People that did play it said it was incredible clunky. Prices for the PAL version are even worse than Kuon.

They're some other PS2 games that are still common and easy to find, like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Gran Turismo 3, Gran Turismo 4, Madden NFL 2005, Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2, Final Fantasy XII, MLB 06: The Show, God of War, God of War II, etc.
There are also a ton of more obscure PS2 games that are still very affordable. One of my favorite strategy games of all time is Dai Senryaku VII, and you can still find this game for about $10.
OMG ok we need to talk about the opening minutes of the Futurama game. One of my literal favorite moments from that show comes from the cutscene that plays after you die for the first time. The game introduces its extra lives system by having a clone of Fry pop out of a machine. The Prof explains its function and then casually admits that he’s been trying to kill you for days just to test it. “Oh my, yes.” Absolutely killed me the first time I saw it.
Playstation 2 is one of most greatest consoles ever maded and solded, I still have Ps2 today and play with that, we founded old Ps2 games from our home, there was Ape Escape, Shrek Treasure hunt, Lilo and Stitch a problem in paradise, Crash team racing and Crash Bash what really surprised me, there was much other games but I just remembered these games names. I still have my old .hack and Xenosaga games.. never played anything much beyond the first disc of either.. but have both full sets (DVD's included in .hack)... had no idea they had any value at all tho... pristine shape too (I just checked on them) and it looks like the .hack original series in general has a pretty good price tag.. I've been sitting on this all along.. lol and here I thought my rarest game was the Metroid Prime Trilogy steal book..

The over-exaggeration of some of these game values is real. It's videos like these that cause people to think what they have is worth more than what it actually is. Hint to anyone reading this...don't look at what people are trying to sell the game for...look at how much it ACTUALLY sold for. No your misprinted Mario on Wii U is not worth $10,000
I have a few of these: Samurai Western, Xenosaga 3, Haunting Ground. I have Futurama, but on the Xbox. And a few other games mentioned in other rare game videos. The thing is, a lot of rare games are that for a reason... I bought all three Xenosaga games at the same time (when GameStop actually had games on their shelves), but only ever played the first... for a couple hours. I couldn't get into it. It was more like watching a movie/show rather than playing a game as there were so many long cutscenes that it just bored me into quitting and not looking back.
I never thought that back when I bought Xenosaga 3, new, that it was going to be one of my most rare games I own. Same with Path of Radiance (though that's a Gamecube game). However, I think that Xenosaga 3 was going to be the end of that storyline regardless of how it sold. I think after the sales of Part 1 and 2, the developers were told 3 was going to be the last game in the series instead of it being a 6 part installment. However, I really liked Xenosaga 3, even if it felt rushed. It was hard for me to put down at the time when I first played it because I was always interested in what was going to happen next. If it wasn't for the positive reception I heard from fans at the time about Episode 3, I probably would not have finished Episode 2.
episode 3 really stuck the landing and was the best in the trilogy. and you are half right. episode 3 was always going to be the end of shions story arc. episode 4 5 and 6 would have had a massive time skip with a new lead character with only KOSMOS being in all 6 games and there wasnt anything wrong with episode 1s sales. it was one of the best selling games of its release year. it was episode 2s poor reception that killed the planned series but thankfully the 3 games together tell a complete story
I am just so blessed to have bet on Kuon, back to the ps2 age, when none did not do it before. Because I was actually looking for an alternative j-horror game similar to Project Zero/Fatal Frame saga myself. It is smply one of the best and grimmest feudal japanese ghosts games imho. I love the settings of it, it is as spooky as hell, and it has got 3 different endings according by the chara you choose. I am still playing it time to time and I never get bored of it though. I wish that From Software will make a remaster of it, by including a new game plus mode though someday! .🙏🏻❤

I thought Koun wasn't released in Europe back then? I played Haunting Ground, Obscure and Rule Of Rose when they came out, but I didn't like any of them and gave up on all 3 after a couple of hours .
i have Haunting ground ,rbought in 2017 all new from the largest online store in Romania but now they don't have it in stock.I watched walktrough videos about this game because i never believed i will have it.
They might be uncommon or have a low print run, but the fact remains that these games were god awful and i find it truly baffling that people would spend hundreds of dollars on trash just to have it sit on a shelf for bragging rights.
See also: Robot Alchemic Drive. It was hyped up in US Playstation Magazine, the demo was a lot of fun, and near impossible to find in stores. I've never met another person who played it, or even heard of it. If you like mech games and awful voice acting, I recommend it. Might be a bit expensive though.
Scarface was another rare gem because I didn't even know about it and when I tried to tell my friends n family about it they had no idea either I was like dayyummm ok let's play and man wad I blown away jus off the fact they have u start from where he died at but instead u shoot the guy who shoots u in the back!Tough game real tough game!
-I heard of Rule of Rose. I actually got the first title you mentioned mixed up with that thinking "Didn't this go by a different name?". -Really Garfield is on here? This wasn't released in America? Isn't he an American character? I would assume he's bigger there not that many people actually talk about him. No wonder I never heard of this. I have heard that Garfield is well known in Europe and is generally liked. Don't know if it's better than America though. -I didn't realize the PS2 had this many obscure survival horror games. -A western Samurai didn't interest people? I could definitely see myself playing this just on the premise. -Futurama had more copies in Europe? Bad move since that's not where most of the fan base is.
It is pretty rare. The reason is because to play a perfect Console port was on Dreamcast and secondly PS2. The PS2 version is harder to find. PS2 $124 - CD only $168 - Complete with box and Book $950 - New Dreamcast $93 $162 $526
I been collecting horror videos games everytime they came out, since for the ps1, ps2, ps3 and ps4. So, yes, I have a great collection of all the rarest horror games, including the Dreamcast too.
This list is missing one important rare/expensive PS2 game imo that everyone should play at least once. Blood Will Tell. It is a masterpiece. Some other notable true rarities would be FIFA 13 and 14 for PS2. The NTSC versions were only released in Mexico. Working in a retro game shop for nearly 10 years now. I’ve seen Kuon, Rule of Rose, .Hack 4, Xenosaga 3, and others from this list countless times. But only once have I ever seen ESRB versions of FIFA 13 and 14 come across the counter.
I have played and still own... Rule of Rose Xenosaga 1-3 Obscure Futurama Kuon Atlus games were limited print before Sega bought them out. So pre-Sega Atlus games were rare in general. Rule of Rose is my all time top favorite horror game. Kuon was pretty fun too. Obscure it was interesting at points and felt the horror and acting elements were cliche. Futurama was a gem, I loved seeing new humor that this game has brought. I'm shocked how much Rule of Rose and Kuon goes for nowdays. Too bad they are games i enjoy so no selling them for a quick buck. lol Xenosaga 3 I haven't finished yet. I still need to get through the first two. I bought all 3 at once during the ps2 era when i seen opportunity to get all of them. I tried the same with the .hack series but the oppurtunity never came so I own none of the .hack series.

The rarest ps2 game there is is dragon quest 7 American version. I've only seen 1 copy and Hastings had it for rent.Never seen it for sale. I can't find it to buy either.
I have 8 /10. Kuon was the cheapest one $24.99 at gamestop. The only ones that don't have are the japanese and European releases. I bought haunting ground since I liked clock tower 3. I played rule of rose for 10 minutes back in 2006. I couldn't get into the game. So I put it back on the shelf and kept to this day. The ps2 has other rarities that's not in this video. I have all 3 xenosaga games and all of the .dot hack games released in North America. The guy game and coraline are also rare. I finished samurai western years ago. The game is lame and highly repetitive. The first shadow hearts is rare. Jurassic park operation genesis is kinda rare.
WHY IS BLOOD WILL TELL NOT ON HERE!? That game is rare and cost over $100. I remember hearing about this game back in the day but never got a chance to get it since I didn't have a PS2 and the fact it was an M rated game. By the time I got a PS2 I forgot the name of the game until a decade later when I looked up the plot (should have done that before). By then it was too expensive to pick up. I got a repro for much cheaper and played it on a soft modded PS2.
If a game has received a Greatest Hits release, it is the opposite of rare. DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is in high demand and rather expensive but by no means rare.

episode 3 really stuck the landing and was the best in the trilogy. and you are half right. episode 3 was always going to be the end of shions story arc. episode 4 5 and 6 would have had a massive time skip with a new lead character with only KOSMOS being in all 6 games
and there wasnt anything wrong with episode 1s sales. it was one of the best selling games of its release year. it was episode 2s poor reception that killed the planned series but thankfully the 3 games together tell a complete story

I am just so blessed to have bet on Kuon, back to the ps2 age, when none did not do it before. Because I was actually looking for an alternative j-horror game similar to Project Zero/Fatal Frame saga myself. It is smply one of the best and grimmest feudal japanese ghosts games imho. I love the settings of it, it is as spooky as hell, and it has got 3 different endings according by the chara you choose. I am still playing it time to time and I never get bored of it though. I wish that From Software will make a remaster of it, by including a new game plus mode though someday!

I thought Koun wasn't released in Europe back then? I played Haunting Ground, Obscure and Rule Of Rose when they came out, but I didn't like any of them and gave up on all 3 after a couple of hours .
I still have the Xenosaga trilogy in my possession. All 3 are great games, in my opinion.

They might be uncommon or have a low print run, but the fact remains that these games were god awful and i find it truly baffling that people would spend hundreds of dollars on trash just to have it sit on a shelf for bragging rights.

5:36 I think the hate towards Alone In The Dark 2008 is a bit undeserved. It's far from perfect but it's really ambitious even to this day.
I have Kuon but it has no box, I actually ended having two copies after it was just dollar discs at GameStop. I'll hold on to it for memories
If I could travel through time, I would go back to the day Kuon released, buy like 3 or 4 copies, come back, and sell them and I would be rich!
Yu Yu Hakusho dark tournament is pretty rare, I’ve never seen it for sale anywhere in person.

If you like mech games and awful voice acting, I recommend it. Might be a bit expensive though.

It is pretty rare. The reason is because to play a perfect Console port was on Dreamcast and secondly PS2. The PS2 version is harder to find.

This list is missing one important rare/expensive PS2 game imo that everyone should play at least once. Blood Will Tell. It is a masterpiece.
Some other notable true rarities would be FIFA 13 and 14 for PS2. The NTSC versions were only released in Mexico. Working in a retro game shop for nearly 10 years now. I’ve seen Kuon, Rule of Rose, .Hack 4, Xenosaga 3, and others from this list countless times. But only once have I ever seen ESRB versions of FIFA 13 and 14 come across the counter.

Rule of Rose is my all time top favorite horror game. Kuon was pretty fun too.
Obscure it was interesting at points and felt the horror and acting elements were cliche.
Futurama was a gem, I loved seeing new humor that this game has brought.
I'm shocked how much Rule of Rose and Kuon goes for nowdays. Too bad they are games i enjoy so no selling them for a quick buck. lol
Xenosaga 3 I haven't finished yet. I still need to get through the first two. I bought all 3 at once during the ps2 era when i seen opportunity to get all of them. I tried the same with the .hack series but the oppurtunity never came so I own none of the .hack series.

The rarest ps2 game there is is dragon quest 7 American version. I've only seen 1 copy and Hastings had it for rent.Never seen it for sale. I can't find it to buy either.
I have 8 /10. Kuon was the cheapest one $24.99 at gamestop. The only ones that don't have are the japanese and European releases. I bought haunting ground since I liked clock tower 3. I played rule of rose for 10 minutes back in 2006. I couldn't get into the game. So I put it back on the shelf and kept to this day. The ps2 has other rarities that's not in this video. I have all 3 xenosaga games and all of the .dot hack games released in North America. The guy game and coraline are also rare. I finished samurai western years ago. The game is lame and highly repetitive. The first shadow hearts is rare. Jurassic park operation genesis is kinda rare.

That game is rare and cost over $100. I remember hearing about this game back in the day but never got a chance to get it since I didn't have a PS2 and the fact it was an M rated game. By the time I got a PS2 I forgot the name of the game until a decade later when I looked up the plot (should have done that before). By then it was too expensive to pick up. I got a repro for much cheaper and played it on a soft modded PS2.
Fr Blood will tell is the 3rd most expensive ps2 game on price charting going for almost 400. Luckily I found a copy from a thrift store in 2021
