Jack please pick these back up!!! I was trained as a kid to play by reading music and I barely remember any of it. I've always wanted to just play freeflow like you!
I LOVE the way you've been teaching piano without using the complicated lingo, Jack! One thing I thought of is that in the key of C, all of the white notes are "safe" notes, and all of the black notes are poison. In the key of G, we discover (by using the tone, tone, semi-tone, tone, tone, tone method) that there is now one "safe" black note. But that means one of the white notes has to become poison - to keep the number of tones in the scale consistent.
Jack, massive thank you. We brought a piano last March and it’s turned out to be brilliant for my whole family. We all look forward to the next lesson video to be posted. Sadly The wife and kids are zooming ahead. My welders hands are holding me back😂😂Thanks again
Thanks Jack for this lesson. I've been following you for about a year. You are an inspiration to me and I can imagine to a lot more others. Keep it up my friend. !!!
Another brilliant lesson Jack! You're such a good teacher! A cool thing I realised over crimbo is running down the notes of the C major scale is Joy to the World so by keeping that melody in mind and starting on a different key helped me figure out the notes of each scale!
Jack you are a legend! Love all your lesson videos. One day soon I will buy a Nord Grand from Andertons and it'll all be down to you! Also next lesson ideas: 1.Jazz lesson (maybe 251 or nice go to chord shapes). 2. Stride/walking left hand patterns. 3. Your music heroes, and why you love them, lil example easy piece for each one of them. Anyway hope all you lot are doing well!
This entire series is really, really fun and brilliant! He talks about this shape in Video #4, as well. I don't know if any other comments mentioned this, but all he's doing is a Sus2 shape, with whatever key he wants to do. For instance, in the key of C major, you play C D and G (C suspended 2nd, or Csus2 for short). And then you just play the 5th of the chord (G) down an octave. And it makes for a helpful hand shape. Or, you can think of it like this: It's a Csus2 shape, AND a Gsus4 shape, combined. G C and D make up Gsus4, and C D and G make up Csus2. It's just brilliant and useful. The 2nd, aka the "2" note is such a cool note that can be added to a lot of chords. It's so lovely and works for so many styles of music (and it works with major or minor harmony, btw). Very, very awesome. Thanks again, Jack! Look forward to many more of these videos. Please make more. I'm enjoying this immensely!
The Duxbury is back! Loving the lessons, and looking forward more. Great having a very different approach to playing which contrasts well the other videos I'm learning from Big ups Jack!
I’m gonna take that advice and point at the notes before I play them ,may add 2or 3min to each song, but might make for interesting pauses throughout song, just kidding jack, good lesson, your fun to watch.
Please take this to the next level. I'm speaking about chord progressions, plus the idea of not sounding too simple (repeating over and over). Meaning implementing different creative ways of addings notes to sound like a pro.. Thank You Jack!
Could you do a video about how to set the internal EQ in your keyboard? From lows, mids, highs, filters, velocity, dB, hz, what are some key tips to help it sound best in a live setting? Thank you 🙏🏼
Nice. Couple of things - firstly just me, I found I started learning in E Minor.... Im guessing thats because Ive been guitarist for years lol. Second - not sure (as I havent watched all you vids - caught this one and will go back over the others) - the dreaded fingering...... Mozart used to "teach" in B.... the black and white notes are in the perfect place for the thumb to pass under the other fingers when doing scales. Just a thought - its by FAR the easiest key to learn that fingering. As a plus point, its mostly black notes - which gets rid of the "scariness" of those black keys.
If you guy's don't make that a tee shirt I am and go to a lot trouble to make just one for myself. Which honestly is more trouble than having you guys ship it to me from your store, or probably just the folks doing your tee's over there in the UK to me here in the South of the US. You know us, we're the problem children over here. After we became a problem to King George the 3rd. We became a problem to our other funny talking brethren up north just less than a 100 years later. Anyway, Back to Tone Tone Semi Tone Tone Tone. Have you looked into if for nothing more than for tee shirts a US manufacture/distributor? Sell from your website but make them here ship them from here. I can see Guitar Center having a snit if someone bought a Les Paul from you but, it came from here. Tee Shirts shouldn't be a problem. Yes I can in fact hook you up as I am just now thinking of it while picking up piano finally very late in life, @ 62 At least think about the tee shirt. Honestly I don't know how many shirts you sell. I'm guessing enough to keep selling them. Don't forget to put your name on it beneath Anderson's very small at the bottom. You should get a cut for your spectacular idea. Oh thanks for the lessons. If, now I could just find someone to help me with learning this Yamaha Montage 88 I just got. It's more complicated than learning Piano, but I'm hoping not as complex as a DAW, but wow so fun. At lest with piano I have a strong background in Music. Degree 40 years ago Trombone but only guitar since then but not much of that while I was chasing the corporate carrot. Hard to keep up working a hundred hours a week. Had I devoted that time to guitar WOW. Yet still I have ex wives. Yes plural wives. Everybody loves the guitar player just some can't commit to it. For everybody else; We're old, not stupid & we don't know any short stories. Also don't forget that yes everyday is Saturday I'm retired but I don't intend to waste it. Turn your TV off. It's the reason your poor and lonely. Ta.

Love your lessons and your playing Jack. From a frustrated piano player.

the black notes are brothers and the others sisters?? LOL!! good video yet again.
Luvinit
Good to hear you get "loosey-goosey" in there somewhere......
Friendly little notes next to one another like good friendly neighbors”,Mr Rogers”piano lessons.

Umm Jack, love your lessons, however, in major scales ,F Sharp is G flat?
In G it F#. F'shoosies
Sorry, I said it wrong. What I meant to say was, there is no F Sharp major scale, it’s G flat major scale.
@@paulsecomb7605 There's both but convention has its favourites.
