I am delving into mindfulness meditation with some success so far. I am having trouble tolerating meds lately
(long story short), so I am doing what I can to help myself. Mindfulness and CBT it is!

Good morning Jezel: I feel that when I’m doing any type of mindfulness, im just going thru the motions without any awareness and I’m not in that “feeling or I’m just “not being” …..so I just shut down. Hard to do with multiple health issues and tolerance to benzos. Enjoy your holiday weekend❤

It is common to have this type of feeling when doing mindfulness "going through the motions", as long as you keep redirecting yourself to the present moment, feeling, breath, situation, you are creating new pathways in your brain. Mindfulness will not cure your health ailments but can help you have compassion for yourself and others who are suffering in similar circumstances.

Hi Jezel. I'm trying to address all the root causes of my depression/anxiety! I definitely need to do something else to get me through each day! Since getting off a medication every day is getting tougher and tougher. Haven't had a restful sleep in 3 wks. which makes things worse! Receiving mindfulness therapy is definitely needed!!! I pray that I can find someone!!!

Found that trying mindfulness meditation and MBCT made me so frustrated and angry at myself for not being able to make it work. I felt I was farther behind than before I started. I think you should mention the risks of trying mindfulness meditation and not only the potential benefits. My psychiatrist in the psych unit said it's not for everyone.

That is true. You may enjoy other types of mindfulness, like mindful walking, or yoga.
