Respect both ways, dealing with the people, helping them along the way. Today, well that's another story. The driver has so much more traffic and human misbehaviours to cope with, never mind the company of today who seem to forget the frontline pressure on operators. 99 % of your day can go well, and just as it comes the end of a shift, it can go sideways, resulting in the "driver complaint"...speaking from experience behind the wheel, this job is multi faceted, great one moment, and living hell the next. Bus drivers are there to help, to get you from a to b safely. Respect that person who gets you there and back day after day.

As a fellow driver I have come to realize that it's up to me to keep the stresses of the job to a minimum. Making sure that I manage myself in a balanced way. I too get sick of the job as this driver said. However, the environment is not going to change to please me. It's my attitude that will allow me to operate with a lower stress level. All people should receive equal respect regardless of their appearance or social economic status. No not all deserve the ride. Perhaps they're broke, rude, or incoherent. However, displaying equal kindness and respect will be observed by all who ride the bus and regardless of the treatment the driver receives, she or he will be graded by the other passengers on how they respond. From experience I have been backed by others when treatment at the firebox has been abusive from riders. However, if I am rude back then passengers will not back or respect me when I have failed to hold my composure. As for external things like traffic and pedestrians, well one will continue to grow thicker skin with each incident. This will help as you grow in this career. You never stop growing in this job and you never have it figured out. Stay safe 😎✌️

This is awesome. Everyone back then made the effort to look sharp when they left the house. Vancouver now is full grubby people. You can walk into an office and the men look like they just got back from a skateboard park.
