When I was at high School these were my 2 rugby heroes. Jonah because he was a freak of nature and small because of the fearless way he played. Jonah was obviously very sick when this was filmed and passed away a few months later. R.I.P my heroes
The fact that this full Documentary was removed from the Internet, is a selfish sin. Rugby is a Game for everyone, and it should never have been removed.
I didn't even know this was up here. How flipping cool. Jonah fully sounds like the matures statesman of the game that he became. And despite being months from the end, he sounds so alive here. I see so much more than just the hugely talented rugby player here. And of course James was my favourite. So cool to see all the comments from kiwis here respecting James' attitude and approach to the game. 2 guys who did transcend the game
I love that these two are both so humble and have such respect for each other. Testament to their characters. They are the embodiment to the idea that sport is there to teach youngsters how to treat each other. Compete fiercely, but with respect and fairness.
Sad to think that both men passed away within a few years of this video. You can see that the respect between the players was always there. Competitors of course, but respectful.
I watched a prayed for Lomu to fail as a rugby player, against the Springboks and the Sharks. Without him, my life would have been unbearable. I’m great full, to have know this era in our great sport. 🙏
Holy sh1t this conversation is taking me back to that World Cup and how everyone for a whole week was discussing how to deal with this man and the debate between people saying James can get him vs everything in the past saying nothing can get Jonah. And now we’ve got this on record of the two of them walking us through the events and their thinking. Devastated they’ve both passed on but so happy this recording was made.
First time I ever saw James he was playing for Greenside High - at full back, lightning quick. Then would watch him a couple of years later at Ellis Park regularly- still remember the Night series that was played on Wednesday evenings - he was really good.
There is something incredibly sad about the men involved in this game. Ruben, Jonah, James, Joost, Chester, Kitch, not to mention the scandals around Japie and Hannes
It brings tears to the eyes. How could it not? Let's also not forget Joost, his rugby, his cruel tragedy...greatest half back of all time, some have said...and absolutely NO fear. One time I met him and Pieter Hendricks and Joubert on a night out at the Waterfront in CT. I'm a small man and Joost was just a touch bigger than me...but a guy with the heart of a lion on a rugby field. He was humble and friendly...what a gentleman.
Wow, how powerful is this video. Two giant of their sport talking of the golden era of rugby. How amazing is rugby? It not only brings people together, it brings nations together and brings the best out of men. Wow 🏉🏆🏆
I love Jonah he single handedly own the game of rugby and it was beautiful to watch 11 on the eyebrow legendary thank you Jonah lomu...taranakian fan 4eva
RIP James Small (February 10, 1969 - July 10, 2019), aged 50 And RIP Jonah Lomu (May 12, 1975 - November 18, 2015), aged 40 You both will be remembered as legends
A fistula is a special connection created by joining a vein onto an artery. This results in a large robust blood vessel that can be needled regularly for use in haemodialysis. As Jonah mentions in the video he has to go 4 times weekly for HD, to clear out the waste products which his kidneys are unable to clear out of his system, as well as getting rid of the water he retained on the days when he wasn't dialysing.
James Small, Joost Van Der and Jonah Lomu now reunited playing 80 mins in paradise ❤🙏🏽
Don't forget about Chester ❤️
You think there is a rugby pitch in heaven?
Wtf…really, Chester too? I love overseas so don’t hear this stuff. James small was a super hero when I was in high school.
And Ruben.@@LB-vu1ue
And Ruben Kruger.😢

How good is it that this happened when it did, capped off with that sincere handshake at the end.
The way James looks Jonah in the eyes at the end. Love rugby. I'm in tears here. Two greats.
Such an epic moment. :(

2024 and this brought a tear to my eye... The game was played on my birthday 24.06.1995. The birthday gift that I was blessed with.
Two legends. such respect. Both taken away far too young

The biggest sadness in the history of rugby is we never got to see jonah play more rugby james small remarkable comment

What's on lomus arm

Small never tackled lomu ..japie and joost did ...small was a bully and a wife beater ...wasted talent.....
Carrying a chip on your shoulder?
Unfortunately, not far from the truth....read what he said to Chester Williams etc....but still, let's just remember him for the rugby, heart of a lion.
